Did anyone else find Maurice and Endora's attitudes towards each other rather strange? They didn't seem very 'married', if you might say - more like old friends being re-acquainted. Do we ever hear reference if they see each other very often, live together, anything? They seemed very distant and when they saw each other on the show, hadn't seen eachother in a long time.

OH Nuts!

Yes now that you mention it. They acted like a very civilized divorced couple...yet they were still married.

For some reason I thought they were divorced.

nope, they were married, but, lived, for the most part, apart.........yet they were still very much "attached" (There were a few times Endora made it clear that he belonged to HER )

They seemed to have an "open" marriage - probably the first of its kind on TV!

yeah, that would be closest technical term to the kind of relationship they had, but, i do distinctly remember a couple of times when he strayed a bit TOO far, and she reeled him back in.

It seems like the freedom that they would have through witchcraft would change the rules a lot, particularly for a couple that under normal circumstances as mortals would have divorced. When you can go anywhere like that, do anything, have anything you wanted, it's not like you had to be "caught" in a bad marriage. Unlike mortal marriage where people need the dual income or all their belongings are co-owned, there probably wasn't much that marriage offered Endora and Maurice, so there probably was no reason for them to divorce either when they could just pop themselves somewhere else (or someone else ) and when they did want to see each other, they could, and be happy to see each other too.

That would have been a great arrangement for Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, wouldn't it?? Still deeply in love but just couldn't be together all the time anymore...

I never thought much about it, but now that you mention it, I always assumed they were separated.

Same here, I did notice it but just figured they were probably "separated". As someone else said, they still had an attraction and love for each other, but just couldn't live under the same roof (or in their cases, cloud) together. ;)

There really never was a relationship/marriage like Endora & Maurice's on TV again. It truly was one of a kind.

That's what I've always thought too. I liked how Endora could keep Maurice in line by threatening to move back in with him, LOL.

Endora to Maurice: "I'll make your life miserable and you know I can. I'll move in with you!" ("Just One Happy Family", Season 1)
