Last Saturday night I just happened to stumble upon a special one-hour edition of ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT devoted to Donny & Marie and the rest
of the Osmond family. I happened to tune in at the very beginning (completely by accident) and watched the whole show. It was pretty interesting, esp. since I remembered watching the four Osmond Brothers
(Alan, Wayne, Merrill & Jay) on Andy Williams' show way back in the early '60s
(and later THE OSMONDS cartoon show--by then they had left barbershop
harmony for rock & roll and added youngest brother Jimmy to the act; and, still later, the DONNY & MARIE show every Friday night on ABC). What a talented family. They have certainly had their
share of hardships (Tom and Virl, the oldest brothers, were born with a serious
hearing loss). They have lost both their parents (their father only this year).
You could tell that the siblings share a very close bond. I have always been
a fan of The Osmond Brothers, and today Marie (at 48) is still a beauty.
