When Jerry Mathers (a.k.a. the "Beaver") was in high school, he teamed up with former cast member Richard Correll (who played Richard Rickover) to form a rock and roll band. They called themselves "Beaver and the Trappers" and recorded the single "Happiness Is Havin'" (White Cliff Records). Jerry Mathers also recorded "Wind Up Toy" (Atlantic Records).

I did not know that. I sure wouldn't mind hearing it. Can Beaver even sing?

Also Jerry played a little kid coming up to the door for Halloween in one of the very first Adv. of O & H episodes. (The Halloween Party Ep #5 '52-'53 Season 1)

Just found out sometime back that Jerry also appeared in I Love Lucy. He was not credited though. I was really shocked to know that was him in the episode.

I always thought that kid on Lucy's lap was Jerry but wasn't really sure. I thought Jerry would have been much younger than the kid but that episode was 1953 so it could have been Jerry at 6. Sure looked like him. They didn't credit many people on Lucy except in the voice over or Father Knows Best. That's on Antenna TV and they show very few people in the cast.

I think I read it was the kid in the high chair in the living room, playing little Ricky.

Jerry Mathers never played Little Ricky. Several children played Ricky like two sets of twins. Keith Thibodeaux played Ricky at 5. He said on Phil Donahue he had a stuttering problem and they hypnotized him. Jerry played the kid sitting on Lucy's lap begging money from Ricky Ricardo in a dream sequence in Ricky's Girl Friend.

this page says it was 1951 but elsewhere did say 53 as well.
Yeah, it looks more like him, in the theater front scene.

Is that Jerry singing?

Are you sure that's Jerry Mathers on I Love Lucy? I would think Beaver would be much younger looking in 53 than that boy. That boy is much older looking than Jerry was in the pilot of Beaver in 1956 a few years later. Beaver was in The Trouble With Harry in 1955 and he was very little so how could he look older in 53.

I know this is an old post but just ran across this. I was watching ILL this morning and thought it was Jerry. This was on his FB page from 2019.

I know that many of you have wondered whether or not I appeared in the I Love Lucy episode, “Ricky’s Old Girlfriend.” Although the young boy with Lucy in the dream sequence may resemble me, I never appeared in an I Love Lucy episode. I enjoy your discussions about the topics that you find interesting about LITB, as well as other facets of my life!

Thanks for straightening out the mis-information about Jerry Mathers.

Also re Keith Thibodeaux from Lucy, in an earlier post--it was evident he didn't speak clearly, probably not all that uncommon for a five-year-old. They probably got viewer comments, because after a few of his episodes, the main characters began repeating his lines. I don't really remember, but as he grew up in the Lucy-Desi hour long shows, he probably grew out of it and his lines were OK.
