Remember these two? The "fun girls" who always caused trouble for Andy and Barney? Skippy was the shorter one who liked Barney and Daphne was the taller one with the deep, raspy smoker's voice and always said "Hello Doll" to Andy. I can't understand these two women at all! They crack me up at the same time that I find them revolting! What is the deal with these ladies?? Are they just supposed to be "fun girls" (for the 60's) or was there some other implication there? I can't make sense of those two characters at all. Maybe I'm making it more difficult than it is. I wish Bernie was around to answer for me.

I always thought of them as big city girls who have been around the block a time or two. They've had several boyfriends and liked to have a good time. And they got a kick out of dating cops. (lol!) They would be totally opposite of the small town girls in Mayberry. At least thats my take on them.

This one was on the other day and I recorded it but haven't watched it yet. I have seen it a bunch before but it is one of my favorites so I recorded it. I think they were so out of character for the Mayberry-types - that's what made it so funny. Andy was too much of a gentleman to tell them to get lost, and I think Barney kinda liked them. They were a pefect match for Gomer and Goober.
