Does anybody remember the case of the guy that hitched a ride on the back of an airplane?
(if this has been discussed, I didn't know what search terms to use)

The guy showed up at an airport, trying to sell his coat for a ride on a plane, begging desperately for a ride on the plane.
The workers told him they were sorry, but couldn't help him.
Then as the plane took off, he ran and jumped on the back of the plane. He held on until he was dropped from it.

I know he was eventually identified by family members, but I never heard why he would do such a thing
Were there any theories on why he needed a ride that desperately?

Yes, he has been identified. A really sad case :(. Here's an old thread:

Hmm, those links seem dead. I found another article though:

Im glad someone brought up this segment, I had forgotten about it until now. What intrigued me was the unusual manner of death ( I mean, how many people die each year hitching rides on the landing gear of an airplane?) I also wonder, like Nick_at_Nite, about the victims state of mind.

Was he mentally ill or did something or someone drive him to make such a desperate decision? Id like to hear what his family has to say about him. Maybe we can get more info from a newspaper.
