I Ask This Question Because When Roseanne Came On The Air in 1988 It Was A Huge Hit Ranking Number 2 In It First Season Then Number 1 In It Second Season And Was ABC Top Rated Show From 1988-1993 Before Being Surpassed By Home Improvement In The Ratings,Home Improvement Came On The Air In 1991 And Ranked Number 1 And Number 3 In The 1992-1993 Season Just Berhind Roseanne Then Ranked First Place In It Third Season And Surpassing Roseanne And Was ABC Top Rated Show From 1992-1998,So Do You Think Home Improvement Took Roseanne Viewers Away?

I think HI and Roseanne largely appealed to different audiences. I think Roseanne slowly declined in the 93-94 season because while people liked the show, people were progressively becoming turned off by Roseanne's off-stage antics (for those of you too young to remember, Roseanne was once a tabloid icon similar to Paris and Lindsay are nowadays. Every single night there'd be something about her on Hard Copy, etc...), but then when the quality of the show dipped in the 94-95 season, that was when all but the die-hard gave up.

I'd argue that Seinfeld and Friends probably took away more of Roseanne's audience than Home Improvement did, since they were decidedly more "adult" shows while Home Improvement was more of a family program (yea, Roseanne was about a family, but it wasn't geared to the kids)

I don't think so. They were on the same network at different times so viewers could choose to watch both if they wanted to.
