View Full Version : is Stoney Jackson kryptonite to Marla Gibbs?
Dean Winchester 11-16-2007, 08:37 PM I watch the 2:20-ish AM showings every night and last night was the episode where Florence goes to the prom with the nerdy guy interning for George, and just who happened to be the bully at the prom? Stoney Jackson. The same Stoney Jackson who moved into 227 when Jackee moved out. Is it any coincidence that two Marla Gibbs shows ended their runs shortly after Stoney showed his face onto the set?

Well the Jeffersons wasn't Marla Gibbs show

yes, but his scenes were with Marla, and The Jeffersons was cancelled months afterwards. Fast forward five years, he moves into 227 and the show gets cancelled shortly afterwards as well. Makes me wonder if he appeared on Passions in the past year or two, since that soap was recently cancelled and Marla was recurring there as well.
OH Nuts! 11-17-2007, 10:12 AM Well the Jeffersons wasn't Marla Gibbs show
What was nice about the Jeffersons (and it's a long list) is that it wasn't anybody's show. Yes, George and Louise were the main characters, and so figured a little more heavily than the others, but there were so many great characters that got to shine: Mr. Bentley, Mother Jefferson, Florence, Ralph, each of the Willises & more. But Florence was a hoot and is probably my fav supporting character.
Compare this to shows were one character dominates. Now, this is not necessarily a bad thing, WHEN IT WORKS. But it's risky, and when it flops the whole show goes down. So.... I like The Jefferson's approach better.

exactly, what I disliked was that I'm wrong for stating an observation (and I am fully aware that Stoney didn't kill either Jeffersons or 227), but since Marla was on both shows, I used Marla's name. Now if Stoney had appeared on Amen's last season, I would've used Sherman's name instead. Just because I've only been watching the show for about two months compared to those of you who've watched for 15-20 years doesn't mean I'm not entitled to point an observation. For crying out loud Solomon, you post observations on a daily basis.
