View Full Version : Vicki and Burke? TheLadyRed 11-14-2007, 06:22 PM Am I the only one who wishes they could have lived happily ever after together? Fallon97 12-13-2007, 04:46 PM Am I the only one who wishes they could have lived happily ever after together? I agree. I liked Vicki and the second Burke. TheLadyRed 01-15-2008, 12:20 AM Really? I like the first one better. Bonniegirl 08-11-2026, 01:37 AM I liked Burke, but he seemed a little old for Vicky . But than she was a nature, serious girl. I would have wanted Joe Haskell ( Maggie's guy) as my boyfriend. stevea 08-11-2026, 01:54 PM I don't remember Joe Haskell very well, but I think it's the same actor who plays Nathan Forbes in 1795. That character may not have appeared yet. Also, I think 1795 is the introduction of the original Rev. Trask. Evil man, that Barnabas eventually bricks up in the basement of the old house. Played by Jerry Lacy, who I think is still alive. He, Alexandra Moltke, Kathryn Leigh Scott, David Selby, and Nancy Barrett are still alive. Oh, and Kate Jackson, too.. ThisLittlePiggy 08-11-2026, 02:08 PM I loved Maggie with Joe and Vicki with Burke, maybe the 2nd one more. Willbo 08-11-2026, 02:23 PM I liked the first Burke better. Both were too old for Vicki though. Bonniegirl 08-11-2026, 02:23 PM I don't remember Joe Haskell very well, but I think it's the same actor who plays Nathan Forbes in 1795. Joe Haskell was Maggie's boyfriend in the the beginning story, than he was Nathan Forbes in 1795. Same actor , Joel Crothers. He passed away very young . 1985. Very sad cause of death. :( Bonniegirl 08-11-2026, 02:26 PM I loved Maggie with Joe and Vicki with Burke, maybe the 2nd one more. It was so sad when Burke was killed in.the plane crash in Brazil. Poor Vicky , and than for her to go back to 1795 and see Jeremiah who looked just like him ! Bonniegirl 08-11-2026, 02:30 PM I liked the first Burke better. Both were too old for Vicki though. I don't remember the first Burke at all. When I started watching again recently , Burke was already the second actor, Anthony George. Willbo 08-11-2026, 02:55 PM Actually, in the very beginning, Joe Haskell was Carolyn's boyfriend. If you have not watched the beginning episodes, I highly recommend them. They are a bit slower but give you so much of the history of the show and characters. It really picks up when Laura shows up. The Phoenix story is excellent. David Hennessy is such a good actor and really shines in this story especially the climax. I also appreciate that all the original characters get a lot of airtime. You will not be disappointed and will also see why the first Burke is better. Bonniegirl 08-11-2026, 05:08 PM Actually, in the very beginning, Joe Haskell was Carolyn's boyfriend. Or maybe I was just to young to remember before Barnabas ? Wow. I didn't know Joe was Carolyn's boyfriend first ! Why did she let that hotty go ? stevea 08-11-2026, 08:53 PM I don't remember the first Burke at all. When I started watching again recently , Burke was already the second actor, Anthony George. The storylines in the black and white episodes weren't overly memorable, and quite honestly, I don't remember an original Burke. I remember the later one. Probably the first supernatural storyline, pre-Barnabas, in the black and white era was Laura the Phoenix, played by Diana Millay (1934 - 2021). The Phoenix, which recurs every few generations, died in a dramatic boathouse fire; she also appeared later in Dark Shadows, in what would now be called a prequel storyline, in 1897 (Barnabas even remembers her from the 18th century). I remember reading that years after the show ended. ThisLittlePiggy 08-11-2026, 10:20 PM I have only seen DS when Barnabas shows up. I think that is when my Mom started watching too. I think Carolyn didn't want to get married and Joe did so.... Bonniegirl 08-11-2026, 11:08 PM The first Burke was fired for his alcoholism. I remember reading that years after the show ended. Yes. I recently read that too. Bonniegirl 08-11-2026, 11:09 PM I think Carolyn didn't want to get married and Joe did so.... Oh. Wow. I really need to see the very early episodes. Willbo 08-12-2026, 08:36 AM I also think Carolyn had a crush on Burke. Burke was shady in the beginning and had a vendetta against the Collins family. Early Carolyn is so much fun and carefree. She enjoys dancing at The Blue Whale. ThisLittlePiggy 08-12-2026, 01:06 PM I also think Carolyn had a crush on Burke. Burke was shady in the beginning and had a vendetta against the Collins family. I'd love to go there right now, have a few beers and dance to the jukebox. :) Bonniegirl 08-12-2026, 06:05 PM Yes, she did like Burke too. She wasn't ready to settle down. I cannot picture Carolyn with Burke. He seems way to L7 , Square for her. He was good for Vicki , she wasn't a party type girl. Remember when Carolyn was kind of dating Tony Peterson , the lawyer who ended up being Trask. She was just using him to get back the notebook for Barnabas Julia entrusted to him . The actor Jerry Lacy was an older guy ,( he was really sexy ) and he seemed more hip than Burke. LOL Remember L7 for square back in the 60's? |
