They did all the standard tests. Turns out I'm fine; it's just anxiety.

So if you could please keep me in your prayers, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,
-Brad

And I bet that just made the anxiety worse. :( I know panic attacks (though not that bad); I feel for you. Keep your chin up. :)

I'll say a prayer for you tonight, Brad. I promise. Wow, that must have been a terrifying ordeal, and pretty bad to make you go to the ER. I'm so glad it was a false alarm. Maybe you need to take something for the days when you have anxiety.

Are you overweight by any chance?

Anyhow, I'm glad you're fine.

Wow... that sounds scary.
That happens to people who have angina. Fortunately, you don't seem to have that.

Sometimes I get one or two quick pains in that area after exercising. Probably a brief shortage of oxygen. (I had an EKG done during a physical two weeks ago so I know it's not a heart problem.)

Anxiety can cause so many problems... I'm confident you can get treatment for it and not have any more symptoms... :)

That's scary, but at least you had the good sense to get it checked out.
Now that you know it wasn't something wrong with your heart, it might even help alleviate some of the anxiety.

Yes, I am overweight, but I've lost over fifty lbs. since I've been living in California, and the weight is still dropping. I've been quite the hypochondriac since I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, though. So I think that's the culprit.

And thanks.

Yikes, I'm glad everything's okay. I get chest pains too from anxiety, but nothing so severe that it made me go to the hospital. My mom took me to the doctor's for it when I was about 8 but the doctor said it was all in my head. 10 years later I'm on medication for it. Douche.

I've known people who've had anxiety related pains after the passing of a loved one.

How are you feeling today, Brad? Also, I wouldn't consider yourself a hypochondriac. You have been diagnosed with RA. If you were imagining you had it, or thought every little ache was cancer, then that might be the case. That's great you lost all that weight. I could see it in the last picture you posted. That will help your RA, less stress on your joints, but you knew that. :)

Take Care Brad

Keep an eye on this though, it is actually very common for people to mistake a severe panic attack with heart attack symptoms. Having had to deal with severe anxiety several years ago I know how absolutely terrifying the attacks can be/feel. If it happens again I would certainly see your family Dr. as for me and a few others I know the episodes often get longer and more frequent.

Make sure to take some time everyday to destress, what ever is relaxing for you (reading, walk, breathing exercises) Even on days you aren't stressed take 10 mins of destress time.

Cheers

Thanks, everyone. I appreciate all of your kind words and your prayers. Your advice will not go unheeded.

I've been doing better. The doctor gave me Ativan at the hospital, and he prescribed me a bottle. I haven't taken any yet, and I don't plan to unless I have a bad attack. I will keep them handy, though, especially next week when I hop on a really small airplane.

God bless you all.

Great to hear Brad - I'm so glad everything's cool. I know I've been having some bad chest pains with my heart pounding lately too, but I do know what it's from and knew it was probably anxiety (same thing happened when my dad died and I tried to sleep that night). You can even hear the blood pulsing and you hyperventilate. It's horrible. I would only worry if I felt numbness or pain in my left arm with it. Still, it's a big sign to take things easier.
And great news about your weight. I really admire anyone who can drop that much - it's very tough to do! Good for you! :bighug:

I had no idea. I'm sorry that you went through that. Rhumetroid arthritis is painful too.

Sending you a prayer.......
