(That's a genre that includes Henry Mancini, Nilsson, Herb Alpert, and the Carpenters to name a few.) Ireneparalegal 11-12-2007, 11:13 PM I love me THE CARPENTERS. Love Karen's angelic voice. That lady could sing. Herb Alpert, I love his single RISE. Remember his duet with Janet Jackson called DIAMONDS? I like that one too. I also like his older song, "This Guy's In Love With You." Nilsson, "Without You"...what a tearjerker song. I also love his song "Me and My Arrow." He also wrote and sang the theme to COURTSHIP OF EDDIE'S FATHER. He died young didn't he? I know there are more artists that you are talking abt that I enjoy. catlover79 11-13-2007, 12:56 AM I've always been a big Carpenters fan. Does Roberta Flack count in this category? I like her, too. Nilsson is a good one, so is Bread, and I think Barry Manilow would have to be in this category, too. Then again, too much MOR music at once can be torture. Case in point: earlier this year I was in the doctor's waiting room when I went to get a checkup. They had a CD playing the slowest tunes imaginable by the likes of Bobby Vinton, Captain & Tennille, and Helen Reddy, among others. No one changed the CD so it kept playing over and over again. The place was crowded, so I had a long wait. It got so bad I was seriously considering yanking the CD player out of the wall if I had to hear "Red Roses for a Blue Lady" one more time. AAAAAAAUGGGHHH!! AB 11-21-2007, 07:25 PM I like this type of music too, but I have to be in the mood for it. Cactus Jack 11-21-2007, 07:35 PM Makes me think of Tommy Boy when Farley and Spade are singing The Carpenters in the car LOL OH Nuts! 11-21-2007, 07:51 PM [QUOTE=Ireneparalegal]I love me THE CARPENTERS. Love Karen's angelic voice. That lady could sing. Me too. There was something magical about her voice. And also Karen played a mean set of skins--I think I saw it on YouTube. What a shame she was taken so young. catlover79 11-21-2007, 11:45 PM Makes me think of Tommy Boy when Farley and Spade are singing The Carpenters in the car LOL Yes! That's when the deer wrecks the car..."that...was...AWESOME!!" catlover79 11-21-2007, 11:47 PM [QUOTE=Ireneparalegal]I love me THE CARPENTERS. Love Karen's angelic voice. That lady could sing. We all know how fantastic a singer Karen was, but her drumming is underrated. She took lessons from many pros when she was a teen - including Buddy Rich! How awesome is that?? :D Dean Winchester 11-22-2007, 02:42 AM soft rock is good in moderation, but too much of it is overkill. Gotta love the late night infomercial for the Soft Rock collection hosted by Air Supply catlover79 11-22-2007, 12:24 PM soft rock is good in moderation, but too much of it is overkill. Gotta love the late night infomercial for the Soft Rock collection hosted by Air Supply :yeahthat  There's also using an Air Supply song in a Denny's commercial. I think the song is "All Out of Love". I've only seen the ad a couple of times, so I'm not sure. There was a phone company ad a few years ago that used "The One That You Love". |
