The disc for The Loving Cup was already in the DVD, and this ep looked intriguing...so what the hell...out of sequence one more time. Then back to #11 I promise.

The gang's all going to Havana on a Pam Am Clipper and Lucy's nervous abt meeting Ricky's family -esp. Uncle Albert--the head of the family. Pobrecita Lucy! She makes a mess out of things--a shock I know. She ruins Uncle Albert's hat, calls him a fat pig accidentally in Spanish, spills punch on him and ruins his expensive Cuban cigars. (Pienso que Lucy tiene mal suerte. Claro que si, ella es una mujer muy loca! Verdad?) A funny thing abt the ep--the mother speaks practically no English, the shows in Cuba where Spanish is the native language--yet the show's in English and Ricky's mother seems to understand it all. Little Ricky is charming on the drums (Como se dice drums en espanol? Timbres???) Also Lucy makes a mess in the Cigar Store. Talk about being a walking disaster area. But it all ends well w the show. Uncle Albert says Lucy is A OK in his book to have produced the awesome Little Ricky. Babalou, adelante & buenas noches a todo!!!!!!

Muy bien!!!

Ok, poor Lucy, she didn't even call him Uncle Albert that name (I mentioned this on another thread). She was falsely accused...pobre Lucy.

Yes, it seemed Lucy just had bad luck on this trip. She set herself up for a fall and it happened. I didn't like when Uncle Albert told Ricky he should have married a Cuban girl. What a jerk!

Little Ricky playing the drums, in my opinion, is the highlight of this episode. ONE AWESOME KID!!!

She didn't call him a "big fat pig?" The phrase she uttered seems to mean literally greasy male, and I thought I had read or heard that this 'graso' [greasy; fatty] is used as a euphamism for pig. Is that incorrect?

True, it's not a fave of mine either, the only thing i remember about it is her rolling cigars. And little Ricky making a nice impression and saving the day.

The episode has it's moments I like when Lucy ask Ethel if she was scared to meet Fred's family and Ethel answered "After marrying Fred nothing could scare me" The cigar rolling scene is good too it's just that uncle theat messes up the episode for me.

Hi Katya. Yes we all have our own takes on the characters, but I have to admit I don't see him quite as harshy as you. But he is, however, IMO, quite bossy and myopic (also wrong) in his opinion that only a Cuban wife would do for Ricky.
