Dose Anyone Remember When NBC Tried To Put Frasier Up Against Roseanne Then ABC Panic And Stuck Home Improvement Up Against Frasier?

I was too young to remember that, but I'm glad ABC was once protective of Roseanne. :)

I remember that. Wasn't that when NBC moved both Wings and Frasier on Tuesday nights? I know I chose NBC over ABC.

In a way, that was the beginning of the end for Roseanne IMO. From 88-94, the show was massive and then ratings began to slide big time in the 94-95 season. Even though Home Improvement won the time-slot in 94-95, I think Frasier won out in the long run because it went on until 2004, while Home Improvement wrapped in 1999

I think Home Improvement and Frasier both appealed to different audiences too. Home Improvement was more family-oriented while Frasier and Roseanee were both geared more towards adults.

You'd think that Frasier and Wings would appeal to a different audience than Roseanne, mainly because Roseanne is more female-oriented, and Frasier/Wings are more male oriented (yet they chose Home Improvement to go up against them, and it actually did better-LOL)

that and Home Improvement was peaking while Frasier was still in it's infancy. Granted, it got great ratings from the get-go, but it was still a show on the rise and didn't peak for a few more seasons.

One ratings analogy I saw in the past and hated was when people compared the fall of 92 when Home Improvement and Seinfeld went up against each other, and Home Improvement won, a lot of people use that against Seinfeld. Ummmmmmm, Seinfeld didn't really "break out" to a larger audience until it moved to Thursday nights, Home Improvement was a huge hit from the get-go. I bet if ABC decided a "rematch" in 95 or 96 with Seinfeld and Home Improvement, Seinfeld would've vaporized Home Improvement.

But still, you'd think Frasier and Home Improvement would both be geared more towards men, while Roseanne would be geared more towards women, which is why I'd think it would have done better against Frasier.

No matter what, it was a good move for Home Improvement, but a bad one for Roseanne.
