There's no accounting for taste, or smell, in this case. Here are six intriguing, strange odors that some people love.

Everyone has their own unique smell preferences, some of which are stranger than others. Why do some people seem to prefer odors that others find to be strange or downright offensive? Some of these odor preferences are based on memories or experiences from childhood.

My children love the smell of gasoline. Everytime I pump gas they get out and say that gas smells sooooo good! I remember on Charm school w/ Monique when the ladies had to come up with a scent for a perfume one of the ladies suggested gasoline.

I'm a fan of the smell of gasoline, too.

Another weird one I love - the smell of my clothes after I pull it out of storage. No, not mothballs or anything like that (they're always safely stored in Rubbermaid boxes). My clothes always has this pleasantly musty smell. My mom thinks I'm crazy, but it's true. I do like that smell.

You're going to think I'm crazy, but I love the smell of Christmas. When we take the ornaments and the tree down from the attic, I swear they have a unique smell and I love it!

Gasoline. I don't go sniffing it, but at the gas station, that aroma....ahhhhhh.

The smell of my late father's shoe repair business. Acetone, thinner, leather, rubber...I kept one of his apron's after he passed away and I have it in a box. When I desire, I open that box, take out the apron and just smell it. After 4 years it still smells like my father's place of business.

ok heres a weird one, back in the days when i played hockey, I loved the smell of the changeroom....the wet floor and towels, the smell of the hockey pucks, the tape on the sticks, the cold cement floor and the wooden benches all came together to make a regular conglomeration of smells that were unique to that one place.

Mmm, add me to the gasoline lovers!

I also love the scent of a match after it has been lit. Very nice smell :) It reminds me of when I used to smoke (thank god I don't any more, but still!) and I'd light one up after a big dinner out on the porch.

Burning leaves is another intoxicating smell.

don't none ya'll tell me you don't like the smell of your own farts http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/4906/toofpl2.jpg

but for real, I like gasoline too...but at the same time it gives me a headache. Other than that I just like normal smells. I agree with the after rain smell, but I don't think that's so weird of a thing to like. Lots of people I know do.

Um.. I really love the smell of the laundry detergent or fabric softener our neighbors use. Sometimes (usually in the summer) when I'm upstairs on the computer and the balcony door or window is open I can smell it really well and it just feels cozy to me. I once bought a perfume that smelled exactly like it and I loved it because it reminded me of like, summer days! It's really nice. I also love the way it smells after it rains outside. There are also alot of random scents that remind me of days passed that are kind of unexplainable. Like, I might walk outside and smell something that reminds me of the way it smelled in our house when we were getting our kitchen and bathroom remodeled and I'll think back to the days when I was sitting in front of the TV eating a sandwich watching Happy Days, then coming on here and talking about it with my HD board pals. Or even like, OFF! insect repellant reminds me of sitting on the swing in my backyard in the summer of '03, probably daydreaming about Richard Dean Anderson. And so many more that I can't think of at the moment!

Daydreaming of Richard Dean Anderson. And I completely get you on the scents that remind you of things from the past, a lot of times I'll smell something and it'll send my mind back to like, years and years ago but I can't really figure out what it is that I'm smelling.

I was so in ~love~. Yeah, that's exactly how I am. It's an odd feeling but it's usually nice because it brings back pleasant memories.

I can't think of anything in particular, but some of us at work have an issue with one instructor's strong Patchouli oil. She leaves a trail around the building, and it's sooooo strong and nasty! Blah! It smells like poison to me. Why do people still wear that? *cringes*

Hitting the floor? I think I told him to put it in 2nd (gear) and floor it. Maybe that's what you mean. Anyway, John ("Dukes of Hazzard") Schneider liked the photo.
