Jennifer Lopez is facing the axe from her record label after disappointing sales of her latest album Brave.

The seventh studio effort from the Get Right hitmaker was released last month and sold a mere 53,000 copies in its first week, prompting reports the Latina would be dropped by Epic Records, a subsidiary of Sony BMG.

The label is reportedly fed up with Lopez's poor record sales and the extravagant costs to maintain the artist, including an album cover that cost GBP30,000 and a make-up fee of nearly GBP4,000 for each promotional appearance.

An source at Epic Records says, "(Lopez) costs too much money and doesn't sell enough. The woman requires everything short of flying monkeys to get on a stage."

i could only imagine our very own irene cheering in the background

with the baby on the way and with 40 creeping up on her, I have a feeling she doesn't really care either way. She had her moment and it passed, not every female artist is built for a long-lasting career like Madonna or Mariah or Cher

in that case then, she should call time on her pop career. personally, i've never been a fan of her records and she doesn't have that great of a singing voice anyway

she probably is going to take a long break now. With the baby on the way I doubt she is really heartbroken that Brave isn't doing so well, even tho I do think it's good that she has her priorities in place unlike some other pop singing mothers
