Last night I watched the episode Gomer gets a date. In that episode Barney frequently refers to Mary Grace as a dog because she was not attractive. I am suprised that the network censors would allow for him to call her a dog (which is a B****)and they would not even allow a toilet to be shown on tv. I wonder did they receive any letters from angry women. Mary Grace was nice, kind, a bit neurotic but just because she was not pretty enough Barney constantly called her a B****. Did I take him calling her a dog the wrong way?

I think you may have taken this wrongly. Unattractive women are sometimes referred to as dogs...even old rough battered cars, etc., are also referred to as dogs. Another episode, there is a room full of women and Barney remarks that if a quail flew through "they'd all point." Again, referring to the women as (hunting/pointing) dogs.

Maybe I have taken it wrongly. You make a valid point. It was just like Helen getting mad at Andy when he called her the third party instead of saying her name. I thought that was uncalled for. :) Anyway, Barney is still my favorite character.:)
