NEW YORK - It looks as though Rosie O'Donnell won't be facing off with Larry King after all. The acid-tongued talk-show host, who famously clashed with Elisabeth Hasselbeck on "The View," announced on her blog Wednesday that talks to give her a prime-time show on MSNBC had fallen apart.

Saying the development was "just as well," O'Donnell wrote in her usual shorthand style: "poof/my career as a pundit is over/b4 it began."

The deal would have placed O'Donnell in the 9 p.m. slot, she said, opposite CNN's "Larry King Live" and Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes." Fox News dominates prime-time ratings for cable news channels, according to Nielsen data; CNN is second, and MSNBC is a distant third.

A day earlier, an NBC executive had cautioned the sides were far from a done deal.

An MSNBC spokesman had no comment Wednesday night, and a call to O'Donnell's spokeswoman went unanswered.

O'Donnell hosted her own daytime talk show from 1996 to 2002. She also produced a Broadway musical and founded a short-lived namesake magazine before her tempestuous run on ABC's "The View."

Although she was at "The View" for less than a year before leaving in May, her boisterous, opinionated style and tangles with Hasselbeck, a former "Survivor" contestant, were credited with boosting the talk show's ratings.

I was hoping the show would happen. Hopefully another network gives her an offer.

It probably had to do with a bunch of demands from Rosie. It wouldn't surprise me if she does end up with her own show, though.

I am not really a fan of hers but I think people are way too passionate in hating her. She's just an entertainer who speaks what she feels and it rubs those who disagree the wrong way, she's no politician. Stand up comics are generally supposed to be outspoken and offensive, they just don't usually get a platform like The View to speak.

I don't care for her but Bill O'Reiley does make me sick with his two-faced attitude towards her. Five years ago he pretended like they were friends and scored the rights to her big coming out interview and was all pro-Rosie, but the minute she became every conservative's favorite whipping post, he changed his mind and was first in line to throw stones at her. Yet nobody has seemed to point out that in 2002, he was the person who interviewed her when she came out as a lesbian and pretended he was on her side and respected her, when all he does now is bash her.

Many liberals can't stand Rosie either. I saw it on CC time and time again. Her problem is that she can dish it out but has trouble when people voice their opinion on what she did or said. She's a bigmouth bully who is sensitive, which is a weird combination.

I'm a Democrat and I can't stand Rosie. I hate her. I just wish she would keep her mouth shut for once. She doesn't realize she does much more harm than good.
Very well said. I've always said that there isn't a muzzle big enough in this world to fit over Rosie's trap.

Rosie is a hypocrite and a liar and a very prejudiced person.

Her latest controversy is regarding the Dog Chapman thing. Now granted, Dog Chapman's remarks were certainly disgraceful, but she turns right around and says something discriminatory herself, saying something to the effect of "he lives in a trailer park and has a mullet"

The feud with Trump. Granted, Trump's remarks about her weight and appearance were uncalled for, but she makes fun of his hair, which is the same thing

at let's not forget about her offending Asian-American people.

i could go on, but I think you get the point.

The last thing she needs is a show where she can say stupid stuff like this all the time.

her career ought to have been over and finished a long time ago. why can't she just give up and give up being a a-hole?
