I finally saw The Godfather last night! :lol: Woohoo! What a movie! So I'm getting offline now so I can get started on The Godfather Part II.

THAT IS GREAT!!!!! I AM GLAD YOU ENJOYED IT. It is one of those movies you must see several times to understand many things. I would love to discuss the movie with you on the boards when you have a chance and obviously have seen both parts. :wave:

I've heard it said that "The Godfather, Part II" is the best sequel ever filmed. It was the Oscar two years after the original. Enjoy!

Novr Rick & Irene: Yes, the two Godfather movies are great, but IMO, there was nothing like Mr. Puzo's novel. Happy viewing....now you've got me thinking it's getting time for a re-watch too.

Yes, the books are always better than the movies. And in the case of the Godfather, depending which version you watch, it may leave you scratching your head wondering how such and such occurred or if you are left feeling like there is something missing. For example, we never see on screen who put the horse's head in that man's bed, but in the book, we get all the details.

Yes, that's what I'm finding out! I've had to rewind many times already to try to keep up with all the details. There is sooo much going on in these movies. Obviously, I didn't get through all of part two last night; these movies are sooo long. I will resume tonight.

Novr Rick & Irene: Yes, the two Godfather movies are great, but IMO, there was nothing like Mr. Puzo's novel.

I have no doubt the novel is awesome. But it's obviously missing that fabulous cinemaphotography and unforgettable musical score.

I love the Godfather.. all of them. I have the collector's series which is nice. Being Italian having these movies is kind of like.. well, a must :lol:. I remember skipping three days of school to watch the 'Godfather marathon'.. watched the movies over and over and still never got tired of it. My fave is the Godfather III.

Oh wow, you're the first person I've heard say they like III the best. I usually hear people say they like II the best and III the least. I haven't gotten to III yet, so I can't comment.

The tone of it is a little different then I and II but there were more dramatic moments (won't spoil it for you) where Al Pacino truly showed what an amazing actor he is (not that he didn't in I and II but these scenes where a little different.. required different emotions) and I enjoyed that. I think you'll like it. :)

Since we all seem to have a love for The Godfather, when Rick has finished watching the movies, we should make a thread here on the Lucy board and discuss it in detail. Ask questions, post thoughts, just chat abt the movies. As a matter of fact, yesterday I was in the bookstore and I seen two fabulous books on the Godfather movies. I have one already, but these two would be awesome to have. I may just add those to my Christmas wish list.

I have always loved the Godfather, but never really understood certain messages or things that were occurring in the movie until I took a film class in high school. We seen the movie and the teacher taught us the many aspects of the film. I learned so much abt that movie during that class. A lot of things finally made sense even though I had seen the movie at least 6 times.

That sounds good to me, too! I just finished II last night. I'm going to start on III maybe tonight, but probably won't finish until Sunday or Monday because it's late now, and I'm meeting a friend tomorrow night and have company in this weekend.
