And I'm sure all of those shows also hindered someone's career by typecasting them and/or totally disillusioning them and/or...;)

Mary Tyler Moore - The Dick Van Dyke Show and his reunion special with Dick Van Dyke, Dick Van Dyke and the Other Woman, elevated her TV stardom to her own series.

Meredith Baxter Birney - Family and if it had not been for her on that show we would not had the pleasure of seeing her on Family Ties.

Beatrice Arthur - Her guest shot on All in the Family gave us Maude and the Golden Girls.

Well, Melrose Place resparked Heather Locklear's career, after Dynasty she had terrible luck with a failed sitcom, a terrible movie (the swamp thing or something like that) and it was MP that saved her career and allowed her to go onto Spin City, which netted her several Golden Globe nominations...

after 90210 Shannen Doherty was pretty much unemployable until Aaron Spelling gave her a second chance with Charmed. but she ruined that too...

Cybill Shepherd hadn't done much work after Moonlighting but Cybill saved her career.

Private Practice seems to have helped launch Tim Dayl's career again; post-wings he's had several failed series (the fugitive, the nine) and only a few unremarkable guest spots- although his role on The Sopranos got him an Emmy nomination.

and it seems that Pushing Daisies has launched Kristin Chenoworth's previously terrible TV career to the place it should be at...

Without Scott Baio, you would not have Charles In Charge if it was not for Happy Days.

I Dream of Jeannie helped get Larry Hagman noticed. If it wasn't for IDOJ, there never would have been a JR Ewing. I saw a little of JR in Tony Nelson from time to time on IDOJ. ;)
I Dream of Jeannie also helped Barbara Eden get noticed. After she did the show, she was doing everything!
