View Full Version : Season 7
storrs19 11-04-2007, 10:15 AM Any new anywhere on Season 7 yet? I hope Sony is not going to drag their a** on this. We got Season 6 February 13th and it seemed like an eternity between it and Season 5. I really wish they would speed up the release rate for older shows.
HelloLarry 11-04-2007, 11:56 AM From what I've heard, AITF hasn't sold the monster numbers that we fans hope it would. However, Sony hasn't given up on the series and their release strategy appears to be once a year, usually in the first quarter. I would expect an announcement sometime in the next few weeks (I 'think' that these things are normally announced a few months out).

There is a pretty good sign that it will. I saw a listing for it on Amazon, but no release date, yet. It just allows you to sign up to be notified when item becomes available. That also applies to seasons 8 & 9.

I'd like to see it come out soon too, there are some great episodes from that season.
Robert 13 05-22-2008, 03:13 PM I hope we see Season 7 come out soon. I was hoping to have the whole series by now. Does Sony know that Season 2 of Archie Bunker's Place is also much sought-after from tv fans because of the opening episode which explains the death of Edith? It has been requested by fans all over the world. Surely, this must be planned for a future release. They probably need to complete the original series first. But then again, why such a long wait? Get on with it already.
rc.uk 07-21-2008, 09:45 AM Does anyone have any news on a release of Season 7? It's been well over a year since Season 6 was released and I'm desperate to finish off the series! So many popular sitcoms have been fully released now - surely Sony has the money to finish off AITF? They must be running out of sitcoms to release...

I was thinking the same thing. But still nothing. They really dropped the ball on a lot of their series which they could now be completing and releasing in "Complete Series" sets.
Scoobiedoo30 07-24-2008, 10:45 AM How long has it been since season 6 came out on DVD

It was released on February 13, 2007.

Scoobiedoo30 07-24-2008, 10:50 AM so it has been a year since All in The Family season 7 has came out.
CTLucyfan 07-28-2008, 08:28 PM Doesn't AITF belong to the same company as Cheers? Cheers went well over a year between the release of Season 8 and 9. Now seasons 9 and 10 have come out a few months apart. Maybe when the 11th and final Cheers season comes out they'll pick up releasing AITF.
rc.uk 11-16-2008, 01:26 PM Sorry if I've missed some discussion of this but has anyone heard anything about future releases of All In The Family? I discovered the show on DVD so I'm very keen to finish it off and living in the UK, there is no way to see it on television.
HelloLarry 11-20-2008, 06:22 PM From what I understand it isn't a strong seller but it doesn't mean that the rest of the seasons aren't going to come out. Look at the Partridge Family (another Sony product). It was a long time (2 years?) between seasons 2 and 3. Season 3 came out last month and it looks like season 4 is going to be out early next year. Maybe if season 7 comes out, we would expect 8 and 9 in short order too. I hope they do come out as well.

As for Patridge Family, to be exact, it took almost 3 years between Seasons 2 & 3, and as for Season 4, a release date of 2/3/09 has been set.
As for All in the Family, you might be right, about them following that pattern with the remaining seasons.

Scoobiedoo30 11-20-2008, 08:25 PM they only have season 7 season 8 and season 9 remaining of All in The Family.
HelloLarry 11-30-2008, 04:42 AM What might be a neat idea to explore is to just release a complete series of AITF at this point. They've already repackaged Sanford and Son, Good Times, What's Happening, and Soap. While I'm not too thrilled with the packaging (they are basically on a spindle I believe similar to how you buy blank DVDs/CDs) it might be a good idea to just clear everything out in one shot.
Dusty's Fan 12-01-2008, 05:45 PM I remember watching all the way through "Archie Bunker's Place" as first run episodes, especially enjoying Season 9 of AITF which introduced Stephanie (Danielle Brisebois). And of course I watched them again in syndication. Trust me, for those who haven't seen the eps, there was still quality work being done and I believe we'll see more DVD releases.
TV DVD Fan 12-03-2008, 02:41 PM To the person who asked if CHEERS was owned by the same company as AITF, the answer is no. AITF is a Sony property while CHEERS belongs to Paramount. Sony just sucks at releasing TV DVDs at a good clip. While I don't think that AITF is destined to never see another DVD release, I think we still have a pretty long wait until we hear any more news. You can't predict anything with Sony (or any DVD company for that matter).
simons97 01-09-2009, 11:19 AM Give me season 7 now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Robert 13 01-09-2009, 01:28 PM I'm still waiting too. I can't believe Sony hasn't taken advantage of more of their properties. They could easily have milked AITF with a complete set by now.
HelloLarry 02-01-2009, 05:39 AM Well we are fast approaching the TWO YEAR anniversary since season 6 was released to the stores.
I have nothing to go by on this except a ray of hope.
Fox announced, according to TVshowsondvd.com, that the complete series of the Mary Tyler Moore Show is coming out. Now they never released all of the seasons individually so 'maybe' Sony will follow suit (and other studios with other stalled series) if it performs well enough. That seems to be how things are handled in the business. It would make sense for Sony just to put everything together in one set at this point. Maybe even bundle it and Archie Bunkers Place together as the 'legacy' collection or something like that.
Who knows...just my thoughts.
Johnny be good! 12-22-2009, 12:52 PM I am looking forward to the cover art of Season 9, that has Stephanie, instead of Mike and Gloria.
Dr. Thong 12-27-2009, 12:51 PM It is weird how they jumped ahead and did season 1 of ABP. Although it's a separate series, it's also a continuation of AITF. I have been renting all of the seasons of AITF and it's weird to jump from season six to the first year of ABP.
No Meathead and Gloria leaving, no arrival of Stephanie.
Hopefully they'll resume releasing AITF and complete the series' run. Ditto for ABP.
