Rowdy/drunk Bubba fan, maybe? I thought it might have been a canned laugh track but it's far too isolated to be that.

Really, it sounds like the same high-pitched, puppy-dog-whine kind of laugh you hear during Card Sharps-- especially when Lamont is looking at the cards through the special glasses.

I'll have to watch Card Sharps again to see if I can hear it there too.

Yeah, that episode was a classic

I myself have heard that same laugh during many of the episodes. Watch a few random ones and listen. It's very distinctive. My theory is it was 1) a regular in the studio audience; 2) a member of the crew who thought these shows were as funny as we all do or 3) a family member of one of the cast who thought the same thing. It's kind of like a war whoop more than a laugh and can get on your nerves if you concentrate on it. Oh well, no telling how annoying my laugh would've been if I'd have been lucky enough to be there in person. I'd have been hee-hawing from start to finish. On a side note, I don't know if any of you watch "I Love Lucy" but Desi Arnaz can be heard offstage laughing his butt off during scenes when Lucy is her funniest.
