View Full Version : Is anyone else thinkin... "Here comes the holiday season"
MonarC 10-31-2007, 11:50 PM It seems like every year after Halloween the next thing on everyones mind is Thanksgiving. Then right after that Christmas, then New Years. The last part of the year always goes by so fast for me. But I really do love this time of year.:)
Ireneparalegal 10-31-2007, 11:58 PM I heard a Christmas song on the radio today!!!!!!
Mikado 11-01-2007, 12:02 AM Im thinking :"I cant AFFORD the Holiday season this year!" =_=
MonarC 11-01-2007, 12:06 AM Yeah that sounds like my hubby. I was like ok so how much are we gonna spend this year? And he was like how about nothing. I said yeah in your dreams.
Ireneparalegal 11-01-2007, 12:11 AM I already told my girls "Email me your Christmas lists."

That's not it at all, I enjoy carefully showing those important to me how i feel and I dont worry about the price, so long as I can find JUST the right gift. My problem is 6 months of unemployment, thus a lack of hard funds. :(
MonarC 11-01-2007, 12:19 AM Yeah. See my hubby is the saver and I am a spender. So we try to meet in the middle. I really don't want a lot maybe a couple hundred to spend on friends and family and a hundred for my son. Then maybe one good gift for each of us and I'll be happy. :)
dawsongirl 11-01-2007, 12:53 AM I love the season because there are many things to anticipate, so it does go fast. And I've always liked the pre-Christmas atmosphere.

Oh god...every year it gets harder and harder. My dad never wants anything, my mom already has every kitchen appliance known to man...I love buying gifts, but I hate having no clue. I don't like disappointing people.
Max Whittaker 11-01-2007, 01:39 AM I'm going to be working non-stop over thanksgiving. I'll have plenty of money, but I probably won't spend much of it, as I've never really been good with gift giving.
I have no idea what December will look like as far as my working schedule. If my mom comes, I'll probably only work my main job, and apologize to my second job, saying she's only here for a short time an I can't take off my main job.
This will be the first holiday season I've ever spent like this. But whatever. It'll keep my mind off the empty seat.

:( But whatever works, do it.
GoldenGirlsFan92 11-01-2007, 09:48 PM I'm looking foward to the Holidays! Thanksgiving,Christmas,New Years, & then my birthday! I love this time of year.
MonarC 11-01-2007, 11:54 PM I love it too. I hope it snows this year. It did last year the day before my son was born.

Yeah, I get that. I don't live where my family is (six states away) and last year I sat by myself on Thanksgiving and about 5pm I decided I'd try to find myself a Thanksgiving dinner. I also lived out in the middle of nowhere, so it wasn't easy. I finally found one at a restaurant that was about an hour and a half away. It cost $30 but I carried it out and brought it home and ate it on a TV tray in front of TVLand. It was delicious...but...:(
Looks like a repeat this year, except I'm not in the same state as last year and now I'm 8 states away from home, but at least there's lots of restaurants nearby so maybe I won't have to go so far this time.
Penny Lane 11-02-2007, 09:51 AM Our local Oldies station started playing Christmas music non- stop today. I love the music but couldn't they have waited until AFTER Thanksgiving?! To me this just cheapens the holiday.
MonarC 11-02-2007, 11:47 AM They should only play X-mas music in December.
DLevine2 11-03-2007, 08:38 AM The holiday season is nice. It comes and go too fast. Hard to believe its that time of the year since we already had Halloween. I'm looking for Thanksgiving in two more weeks. The week before Thanksgiving I'm going to South Boston, VA to see my grandparents. Two weeks before Christmas I'm going to San Francisco to see my brother. I'm looking forward to going to SF in December.
They should only play X-mas music in December.
I totally agree with that! And they shouldn't play it so loud either.
This year we decided to draw names on my side of the family plus get the kids under 18 a gift. So hopefully that won't kill the budget.
