In its current issue, Billboard lists the Top 10 Best-Selling Christmas Albums of the Soundscan era (March 1991 to date), and they are:

My favorite one is Merry Christmas - Mariah Carey. Like Duh! :lol:

OMG I own all of those. :eek: Of course I own about 150 cd's (and cassettes) of Christmas music, but I peeked into this topic hoping to find something new and great to buy. :) I like all of those okay, but there are others not listed that I like better. Here's my favorites:

1. Merry Axemas (A Guitar Christmas)
2. Vanessa Williams, Star Bright
3. Any of the Trans Siberian Orchestra Christmas rock operas
4. Any of the Christmas albums by the acapella group Rockapella
5. Any of the Christmas albums by Gary Hoey (more guitars and stuff)

There's a lot more great stuff out there, but those are some of my favorites.

OMG I own all of those. :eek: Of course I own about 150 cd's (and cassettes) of Christmas music, but I peeked into this topic hoping to find something new and great to buy. :) I like all of those okay, but there are others not listed that I like better. Here's my favorites:

Yeah, that's the thing that bugs me about those radio stations that play 24 hours of Christmas music up until Christmas Day is that there is so much great Christmas music out there yet these stations play the same crap songs over & over again, and you never hear the other great Christmas music!!(sorry for the run-on sentence, too!!). Thank God for CDS!!

Mariah's Christmas album is soooooooo good. One of my first CD's and I still listen to it sometimes...especially around the Thanksgiving/Christmas season.

And I'm surprised The Jackson 5 Christmas album didn't make the list. I still see that selling every year.

Guess it's an age thing but I like CDs by the older stars like Nat King Cole, Rosemary Clooney . In contemporary singers, Natalie Cole put out an XMAS CD sponsored thru Hallmark that I just love and ALWAYS listen to at XMAS. The Carpenters XMAS CD is another fav I always listen to.

I LOVE the Carpenters Collection - a 2-CD set of Christmas music. Karen sounds her ALL-TIME best singing Christmas songs - and that's saying a lot!!

Another favorite of mine is the Spector album - A Christmas Gift for You, with vocals by the Ronettes, Crystals, Darlene Love and others. That's one I listen to even when it's not Christmas! The Supremes' Merry Christmas is another one I listen to a lot this time of year.

Back when a station here did it, they had SO much variety. I wish that they didn't change formats. That was something I looked forward to every year.
