Vivian mentioned in her biography that she considered her shouders to be her best asset. Looking at her glamour shots, I can see why.

I take that statement more literally, though. One of the best things I like about Viv/Ethel was when she got in a snit. Her nose went in the air, eyebrows up, voice dripping in sarcasm and those shoulders! They bounced up and down, emphasizing her disgust and made the scene absolutely hilarious!

A great example is in "Never Do Business With Friends," season two. She and Lucy are out on the balcony, trying to unload the washing machine on each other. When Ethel tells her side of the story to Mrs. Trumbull, we see Ethel at her best!

Ethel could really lay it out when she had to. After being married to Fred, I am sure all that aggravation was let out in that washing machine scene.

Her shoulders definitely were gorgeous. And I always seemed to notice they were in fact so beautiful. Like in that pic you posted for me in the other thread where we see Ethel in that gorgeous dress in that scene at the Tropicana where Lucy is pregnant. Take a look at that pic again and just see how beautiful she is from the chest up. Her bosoms flaunt out of that dress, just enough to convey sexiness without raunchiness. Definitely she was not meant to be with Fred.
