For me, there was Debra Messing on Will and Grace, the two Lucy leads in the Lucy movies came very close. Who do you like cuirrently, someone that has Lucy type qualities of timing or you laugh out loud when you see her perform?

Oh yeah, i agree, i think Reba's very Lucyish in her acting.

Nobody living right now. The comedienne who came closest to Lucy was Gilda Radner, God rest her soul. Gilda was just amazing and, by the way, did a great Lucy imitation. It was ironic they both passed away so near each other.

Gilda Radner is one of my favorite comediennes, ever. But I don't think of her as being Lucy-like. Gilda (like Carol Burnett) was a sketch comedienne, which is very different (and broader) than doing sitcom work. When Gilda imitated Lucy Ricardo, it was pure satire, which is an exaggeration, and not a geniune attempt to play Lucy. But she was brilliant, always hilarious, and left us all too soon. As for people who did Lucy-like schtick that I actually liked, I can only think of two: Mary Tyler Moore on The Dick Van Dyke Show and Ellen Degeneres on her old sitcom. But their comedy only delved into the Lucy genre on occasion. They really have their own style and, in my opinion, are at their best when they stick to their own thing. A couple other Lucy imitators, Eve Arden and Kaye Ballard on The Mothers-in-Law, but still don't light a candle to Lucy. I love them both, but like them most when they stick to what they do best. For Eve Arden, it was a sort of sarcastic, ironic comedy that she displayed best on Our Miss Brooks.

True, Cara had her red hair and beauty, Burnett had her talent, Gilda made us laugh the same way, Eve was close too, Marjorie Lord had her class, Betty WEhite could play dumb but lovable like her, Bea Arthur had her power but Lucy had it ALL. Yes, it is quite ironic that gilda and Lucy died within a week of each other and in the same hospital too.

Now that I rethink it, Carol Burnett would be in second place: her antics, physical schtick, facial expressions, laughing and crying, dramatic roles and the fact that she could sing and dance seperated her from all the others respectfully mentioned.

Carol claims that Lucy was her mentor. Lucy admired Carol and took her under her wing. To me that says a lot about a possible second Lucy.

Oh, and red hair?... :) I LOVE Carol, but she's missing Lucy's beauty and her class but she did better than Lucy in dramatic roles in movies later on, and she lost the longevity title because her shows aren't aired all over the place like Lucy's are.

Yes Lucy was absolutely the best, but Gilda was very very good--a plausible comparison.

Carol Burnett comes close to matching Lucy's wit and physical comedy, but just like Lucy, Carol stands alone in her work. They each have their place in television history.

Yeah, you probably read that in my post, LOL! I used to watch that show and she even made appearances on other shows much later and she looked exactly the same,she never changed, a real beauty, however, the people that worked on her show said she was a real beeatch who treated everybody badly, i couldn't believe it when i read that.
