View Full Version : Is Family Matters Still Coming To Nick @ Nite In 2008! thetornado 10-29-2007, 03:21 AM I thought I saw something about Family matters coming to N@N next year or was this just a rumor? Buffyboy323 10-29-2007, 03:38 AM It wasn't a rumor. Family Matters will begin on Nick at Nite this coming March. Only 5 months to go! fullhousefan91619 10-29-2007, 04:10 PM It wasn't a rumor. Family Matters will begin on Nick at Nite this coming March. Only 5 months to go! Really? YAY! I'm sure they'll have the syndicated theme song, but hopefully we'll get to see the end credits! Unless they get rid of end credits in five months. Daffyfan2004 10-30-2007, 12:39 PM I guess Peter Griffin was being serious when he mentioned Urkel as being part of the Nick at Nite line-up. :D Anyway, I think N@N would be a big improvement over other networks that air the show. After all, ABCFamily cuts out a lot of scenes and puts commercial breaks in odd spots. Also, as we've seen ION has done that to 'Perfect Strangers.' I think N@N did a good job with their airings of 'Full House.' (Ex: One commercial break per show; Not too many cut scenes) I'm guessing it should be the same way with 'Family Matters.' Anyway, this would be so cool if I had access to Nick @ Nite. fullhousefan91619 10-30-2007, 05:27 PM I guess Peter Griffin was being serious when he mentioned Urkel as being part of the Nick at Nite line-up. :D Anyway, I think N@N would be a big improvement over other networks that air the show. There's all pluses though: ABC Family- Airs full theme song, shows regularly cut scenes. N@N- Should show end theme song. Only one normal commercial break (there will probably be commercials before the end theme song.) GSU2004 10-31-2007, 01:54 PM Really? YAY! I'm sure they'll have the syndicated theme song, but hopefully we'll get to see the end credits! Unless they get rid of end credits in five months. We'll them squashed however. N@N is notorious for smashing the credits to allow them to run promos for the network just like TVLand does. I hate when they do it to shows that show bloopers or a final scene during the end credits. fullhousefan91619 10-31-2007, 03:34 PM We'll them squashed however. N@N is notorious for smashing the credits to allow them to run promos for the network just like TVLand does. I hate when they do it to shows that show bloopers or a final scene during the end credits. They usually only do that to the Fresh Prince. Home Improvement and George Lopez don't get it, even when it's a standard end theme song. Daffyfan2004 10-31-2007, 04:38 PM They've done that with 'Full House' as well. Usually, that show just has generic end credits, but there have been a few eps with tags, particularly in later seasons. Buffyboy323 10-31-2007, 05:33 PM But N@N will cut scenes we see on abcfamily 7 use the shortened themesong. There's all pluses though: ABC Family- Airs full theme song, shows regularly cut scenes. N@N- Should show end theme song. Only one normal commercial break (there will probably be commercials before the end theme song.) Yep. ABCFAMILY shows scenes from their former ABC shows, that other networks don't show. But they do have those annoying cuts in the middle of scenes, no ending credits, and the horrible advertisements at the bottom of the screen. Nick at Nite probably won't air the full theme song, but we will see the ending credits, and only get 1 commercial break in the middle of the episode, then later before the ending credits. They will make a split screen with the closing credits, but that won't be all the time. Remember, in the middle/later years of the show, there's always tag scenes, while the credits roll. Nick at Nite will definitely air those. I'm going to try to record the entire series from Nick at Nite. I started to record the show from ABCFAMILY, but I hate the editing, and I knew it was coming to Nick at Nite. I can't wait! tanquant 11-02-2007, 08:54 AM Is FM still going to air an ABC Family? I hope so because I don't trust N@N. They will air a show for a couple of months if it does not do well as FP they may cancel it. ABC Family has been loyal to FM and if N@N screws it over then where will we be? At least ABC Family does air their episodes in order. And I have a feeling Family Matters will be the biggest thing to hit Nick at Nite since The Fresh Prince in 2004! tanquant 11-03-2007, 01:14 PM Yes, Family Matters will still be on ABCFAMILY, come March. Thank God!:D I am tired of looking at FP! I'll be glad when it's gone. hughpuppies 11-26-2007, 04:35 AM Maybe they won't show Fresh Prince so much if they bring Family Matters to Nick@Nite. Who needs to see that show and Full House 15 times a day anyway? Buffyboy323 11-26-2007, 05:17 AM Maybe they won't show Fresh Prince so much if they bring Family Matters to Nick@Nite. I'm sure once it comes, Family Matters will be the new show Nick at Nite airs 15 times a night. :) Scoobiedoo30 12-19-2007, 02:27 PM Family Matters is coming in March of 2008 GSU2004 12-24-2007, 05:47 AM With the N going 24/7, there will be plenty of room for Fresh Prince to dominate over there. I can really see Family Matters being the new smash hit for the network. Lets hope they treat it right and launch it right. I can also see this being aired on Noggin for the kids. ryan423 01-30-2008, 10:25 PM Earlier, Someone said ABC Family will still air on ABC Family however this isn't the case. FM ends it's long run on ABC Family February 29th. The permiere date for N@N will be up tomorrow! Pavan 01-31-2008, 03:09 PM Family Matters launches in June: http://www.sitcomsonline.com/blog/2008/01/day-88-wgas-strike-even-more-natpe.html tanquant 02-03-2008, 10:22 AM All of this long time that they have known about Family Matters comming to the network they could have advertised it then. I was wondering why ABC Family hasn't been showing their episodes in order. All Nick at Nite cares about is FP and I am sick of it. Pavan 03-18-2008, 03:20 PM Family Matters is now launching in April instead: http://www.sitcomsonline.com/blog/2008/03/family-matters-now-coming-to-nick-at.html TVFactFan 03-18-2008, 03:59 PM Family Matters is now launching in April instead: http://www.sitcomsonline.com/blog/2008/03/family-matters-now-coming-to-nick-at.html Pav you been on point delevering good programming news in 2008, just continue to do what you DO-lol FrankCostanza 03-18-2008, 05:18 PM This is incredible news! I was having trouble waiting until June because the old tapes I found ran out recently. Plus, torrents don't work too well. Now I can further delay the watching of "House, M.D." that my friend, who hates FM, has been begging me to watch. Sounds like its time to get another VCR and a bunch of tapes and begin my adventure of archiving my final sitcom. All the rest of my shows are on DVD luckily. Pavan 05-06-2008, 10:53 AM It is now official! The show launches June 29! Press release follows, with more info on our blog later today! DO THE URKEL DANCE AGAIN! NICK AT NITE PICKS UP LAUGH-PACKED SERIES FAMILY MATTERS AND KICKS IT OFF WITH A SEVEN-HOUR MARATHON ON SUNDAY, JUNE 29 AT 9:00 PM (ET/PT) Santa Monica, Calif. – May 6, 2008 – Nick at Nite will add Family Matters, a laugh-out-loud hit series for the whole family, to its sitcom line-up this summer, launching the show with a seven–hour marathon on Sunday, June 29 at 9:00 p.m., before it lands in its regular time period, Sunday through Thursday at 8:30 p.m. & 11:00 p.m.; and Friday & Saturday at 12 a.m. (all times ET/PT). Family Matters, which ran for nine seasons (1989-98) on broadcast networks ABC and CBS, catapulted Jaleel White’s archetypal nerd-next-door, Steve Urkel, into the pop culture, and the actor captured three Image Awards for his portrayal. Having aired for 215 episodes, Family Matters is the second-longest running U.S. comedy with a predominantly African-American cast, surpassed only by The Jeffersons. “Family Matters is a really funny, terrific show filled with life lessons about the value of friends and family,” said Pete Danielsen, Executive Vice President, Programming, Nickelodeon & MTVN Kids and Family Group. ”It’s the kind of show that connects with people of all ages and has special appeal for families, which makes it a perfect addition to the Nick at Nite schedule.” In this long-running comedy – a spinoff of Perfect Strangers via wisecracking elevator operator Harriette Winslow – nosy, good-hearted Steve Urkel pesters and wreaks havoc on his neighbors, the Winslows of suburban Chicago. Ultra-smart and socially clueless, the bespectacled, irksome nerd always arrives full of good intentions and inventions that backfire. Dressed in high-rise pants held up by suspenders, he clumsily barges into the Winslows’ home – and into their hearts. His shenanigans particularly annoy Harriette’s (Jo Marie Payton) husband Carl (Reginald VelJohnson). The gruff cop is a loving father to rebellious Eddie (Darius McCrary), cute little Judy (Jaimee Foxworth) and smart aleck Laura (Kelly Shanygne Williams) – with whom Urkel is utterly in (unrequited) love. Harriette and Carl also open their home to Carl's feisty mother Estelle (Rosetta LeNoire) and Harriette's sister, aspiring writer Rachel (Telma Hopkins) and her rambunctious son Richie (Bryton McClure). Eventually, when Urkel's parents move to Russia without him, he, too, moves in with the Winslows, as does Richie’s tough, streetwise pal 3J. As the series progresses, Urkel invents a multitude of incredible gadgets with which he breaks windows, furniture and Carl’s patience. And just when Urkel’s ever-annoying mishaps seem unbearable, the Winslows and friends are ever-endeared by his good intentions and upbeat disposition. Family Matters was part of ABC’s TGIF from 1989 until 1997 before it became part of the CBS “Block Party” lineup from 1997-98. The series was produced by Miller-Boyett Productions in association with Lorimar Television in the first two seasons. In seasons 3-9, it was produced by Bickley-Warren Productions & Miller-Boyett Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Executive producers are Thomas L. Miller and Robert L. Boyett, who developed the show; creators William Bickley and Michael Warren (seasons 2-7) and David W. Duclon (seasons 3-8). Scoobiedoo30 05-06-2008, 11:58 AM I cant wait to watch Family Matters on Nick@Nite GeorgiaboyJeff! 05-06-2008, 01:16 PM I'm excited about it coming on! Finally something interesting to watch when I get off of work at night. I just hope Nick@Nite don't overdo it with showing the show too much and smothering us with marathons almost everyday. Seinfeld reruns again? Shame on you N@N for your delaying ways. You're almost as bad as Nintendo! Has anyone noticed anything cut out of a episode? I was watching Robo-nerd and they cut the best part of the episode out, where Steve builds an laura-bot  Lorimar Television 06-30-2008, 06:07 PM I thought that was the second Urkel bot episode where he builds the robot as a cop. Pavan 06-30-2008, 06:32 PM floyd2006, I think you're thinking of Robo-Nerd II (episode #70)? Last night they aired Robo-Nerd (#54). floyd2006 06-30-2008, 06:53 PM Oops, your completely right. Brent88 06-30-2008, 07:06 PM Oops, your completely right. Yeah, that episode airs on Saturday July 12th at 12:30 and 2:30am ET. That's the one where the women all lose their hair after trying that new shampoo. Pavan 07-03-2008, 11:39 AM Starting next week we are getting TWO episodes Mon-Thurs now. 8:30pm will not be a repeat anymore of the previous day's 11pm airing. See http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showpost.php?p=3948053&postcount=31 (the post on top of page 3 on this thread) for further updates. Nick at Nite has not released updated episodes yet, but I did get the first two nights... keep checking that post for up to date changes. Also, Mon-Wed 4-5am encores are added. They will be encores of 8:30 and 11pm. Family Matters is doing well! Lorimar Television 07-03-2008, 04:40 PM That's great! Pavan 07-08-2008, 11:05 AM OK post updated with episode info for Wednesday and Thursday. Friday is probably already right. Another skipped episode will now air. The show will air Mon-Thurs 4-5am now, instead of just Mon-Wed. Brent88 07-09-2008, 02:42 AM OK post updated with episode info for Wednesday and Thursday. Friday is probably already right. Another skipped episode will now air. The show will air Mon-Thurs 4-5am now, instead of just Mon-Wed. I think Friday is correct too but Saturday is messed up now. I doubt The Urkel Who Came to Dinner will air again. Maybe another skipped episode will replace it. and next week will be a real mess with only one episode listed per night(minus the stunt on Monday) and Nick not skipping any. Pavan 07-09-2008, 11:12 AM See http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showpost.php?p=3948053&postcount=31 for updated episodes through the end of this week (the rest of the month is still under construction). When is FM going to replace Home Improvement? Pavan 07-10-2008, 09:28 PM I don't think it will replace it 9-10pm, as Family Matters is doing very well 11pm. TVFactFan 07-10-2008, 09:35 PM I don't think it will replace it 9-10pm, as Family Matters is doing very well 11pm. Well hopefully 12am to 1am Brent88 07-10-2008, 11:01 PM WTF... the same episode that aired at 11 last night is airing again right now. So they skip Brown Bombshell but air this episode again?! I guess that explains why The Urkel Who Came to Dinner is listed on Saturday at Midnight still. Pavan 07-10-2008, 11:17 PM Their official grids listed this, but I was hoping it would be a mistake...idiots. Oh well. But yeah, they could have easily aired #63 Blonde Bombshell instead of skipping it (unless they are saving it for a stunt...but even if they were, they just wasted 2 plays on #67 Love & Kisses since it aired 24 hours later). TVFactFan 07-11-2008, 12:52 AM N@N now fumbling around with FM floyd2006 07-11-2008, 04:34 AM Isn't Fresh Prince already on three other channels? I think N@N needs to replace it. TVJunkie101 07-13-2008, 07:55 AM Fresh Prince is still doing well on N@N so they aren't going to get rid of it anytime soon but I *agree* with you about it. I can't believe it's Family Matters, HI, GL and then it's repeated again. LOL. Reminds me of the old days of constant Cosby Show and Roseanne. They must be saving the Myrtle and Stefan episodes for a stunt, which hopefully airs soon. That episode guide appears to be original air date order(from ABC/CBS), and the order ABC Family aired the episodes. TVFactFan 08-01-2008, 07:15 PM The Mrytle eps are the WORST Brent88 08-01-2008, 09:47 PM The Mrytle eps are the WORST WOW, and I thought I was the only one. They are among my least favorite episodes. Pavan 08-07-2008, 01:58 PM They are going in order at 8:30pm now (and not going in the same rotation as 11p-12a)...probably because now these newer episodes fit the Nickelodeon audience. Oh okay, that makes sense. I still like this schedule a lot better than the wild random skippings they were doing earlier(and last week going from Season 5 back to Season 2). Pavan 08-11-2008, 06:10 PM Very Last Minute Change: Effective tonight (Monday, August 11), Drake & Josh has replaced Family Matters Mon-Thurs at 8:30pm. Damn, we will miss the new episode at 8:30pm tonight, but all other nights 8:30 is an encore anyway from the previous night. Brent88 08-13-2008, 12:44 PM Next week's listings are updated on Nick-at-Nite website. Actually goes in order.  and no surprising skippings. Pavan 08-13-2008, 01:22 PM Yeah no surprises, though they are skipping the Paris 3-parter and the Stevil Halloween episode. I just updated the upcoming episodes: http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showpost.php?p=3948053&postcount=31 The skipped episode list is also updated: http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showpost.php?p=3948322&postcount=32 Pavan 08-20-2008, 04:32 PM Nick at Nite is airing the movie The American Mall this Saturday (August 23) from 10pm-12am, so the Saturday schedule has been shifted a bit for this Saturday only with George Lopez airing 12-1am instead of Family Matters. No other slots will be affected on this night. Also a switcharoo, Fresh Prince 3-5am on Friday night this week has been replaced by Roseanne. Likewise, Roseanne 3-6am on Sunday night has been replaced by Fresh Prince. Pavan 08-20-2008, 05:55 PM OK, it is confirmed, switcharoo for Roseanne/Fresh on Fri and Sun nights. Brent88 08-27-2008, 11:09 AM Schedule for next week is out and they are going BACK to Season TWO?! So... they'll skip most of Season 9 and once again skip Season 1? Pavan 08-27-2008, 11:34 AM Schedule for next week is out and they are going BACK to Season TWO?! So... they'll skip most of Season 9 and once again skip Season 1? I'll ask what is going on...but they are airing two skipped episodes from season two that first week #25 "Marriage 101" and #30 "Cousin Urkel." Scoobiedoo30 08-27-2008, 12:15 PM I cant belive that they are doing season 2 again. Brent88 08-27-2008, 12:27 PM I'll ask what is going on...but they are airing two skipped episodes from season two that first week #25 "Marriage 101" and #30 "Cousin Urkel." Yeah that is one good thing but otherwise it makes no sense. Thanks for inquiring. Pavan 08-27-2008, 12:35 PM If I were to guess, they want to start the fall off with the series all over again with strong Urkel episodes. I think this time they will air all skipped episodes, (but holiday episodes will be skipped) and go through each season then come back to season one after that. Pavan 08-27-2008, 04:49 PM I got an explanation from Nick at Nite. They haven't made edits on them yet: Season one and most of season nine has not been edited yet and must go through our standards department in order to be cleared on our air. Once we do that, we will begin to air those episodes. I do not know when that will be yet. JulieSomoski 08-27-2008, 05:38 PM That really sucks - I was looking forward to seeing season 1 again. Season 9, I could care less about, but I haven't seen season 1 episodes in a long time. And how did they get through the first cycle of seasons 2-8 that quickly? The show just premiered 2 months ago, and they're already into their second cycle? Brieannas21 08-27-2008, 06:54 PM Why aren't they starting from the beginning????? Do they have season 1 at all? What's with the skipping around and skipping episodes? Brent88 08-27-2008, 07:30 PM I got an explanation from Nick at Nite. They haven't made edits on them yet: Season one and most of season nine has not been edited yet and must go through our standards department in order to be cleared on our air. Once we do that, we will begin to air those episodes. I do not know when that will be yet. That sounds like a lazy excuse. So Seasons 2-8(all but 45 episodes of the series) are edited but they aren't? WTF? They acquired the show 2 years ago also, it's not like they haven't had time. Pavan 09-04-2008, 09:52 AM Week of Sept. 8 episodes are now posted. MikeLutton 09-04-2008, 03:07 PM cool where they listed at Pavan 09-24-2008, 08:52 PM http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showpost.php?p=3948053&postcount=31 still being up to date, if anyone is taking score. Pavan 10-09-2008, 11:35 AM #149 Teacher's Pet (Stefan transformation episode) will air on October 18/19. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showpost.php?p=3948053&postcount=31 Pavan 11-08-2008, 06:54 PM Episode info thru 11/21 has been posted: http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showpost.php?p=3948053&postcount=31 3 new episodes this coming week, 198, 199 and 200! #200 is Stevil Part II! That is what I want to know. Was is during the first marathon for the show? I know ep 21 aired during the men vs. women marathon. Scoobiedoo30 12-18-2008, 03:05 PM This is very good News that Family Matters is coming to BET. Pavan 12-18-2008, 03:27 PM It is NOT coming to BET, Aaron. Read the blog story! It is a one time marathon. ThomasE: I think they aired during Urkel week hosted by Jaleel White. Scoobiedoo30 12-18-2008, 03:50 PM I Must have missed read I just Reread The Blog my friend. Lorimar Television 12-19-2008, 08:13 PM I think they aired during Urkel week hosted by Jaleel White. Only episode 17 was during that Urkel week.
