When I listen to the commentaries, Stephen Root comes off as kind of a dork. And I mean that in the best way. He seems like an average guy. He also seems very sweet. Which is so funny, because as an actor he's brilliant. But he's so down to earth on the DVD commentaries. Also, he tends to try and finish people's sentences.

In fact everybody in the cast and crew that did the commentaries, I could picture myself being friends with. They really seem like my group of friends, which as a result lead to my favorite sitcom ever. I love Dave in the commentaries.

The only person I wouldn't want to hang out with is Andy Dick. He's hilarious on the show and even on the commentaries. But I think I'd be too nervous to actually spend time with him. When I watched that bonus feature of Andy in his trailer, he reminded me of this guy I work with. He even asks me to help him write a script for a movie, much like Andy was asking Paul for help.

I can agree to all of those statements; except different reasons for not wishing to be around Andy Dick. :cool:

Stephen is a brilliant actor, and I assume he'd assumed the fatherly role of the cast when Phil departed; and everyone just tended to look towards him for guidance.

Dave, well, was always the funny straightman, and is likely just as funny as he ever was.

I can't really say about Maura - She was brilliant in the cast, but seemed incredibly detached in the commentaries; she's the one with a career after NewsRadio.

Phil, as we all know, is "Uncle Phil." There will never be another Phil; it's a shame he couldn't join everyone on the 5th season.

I can't really say much for the rest of the supporting cast; they were lovable, but incredibly one-dimensional. Poor Kandi never got any airtime; our beloved spunky secretary who never developed a personality beyond zany+gum, and, well, Joe, who was good, but not really horribly funny - except with the abused "Your name is Garelli?" joke. I still love the heck out of 'em all!

The thing that really made me smile in the post-Phil era is when Joe Rogan had food stuck in his teeth in the fifth season gag real. There they were, in front of hundreds of people, and they were all staring at Joe, trying to help him get rid of the speck of food.. for like three minutes. To me, that means family. :crazy:
