ER and Easy Rider fans should both be happy on Dec. 6. That’s the night that the medical drama airs its 300th episode, and Peter Fonda is making an appearance for the occasion. Jane’s younger brother plays a man who had given up his child with Down’s syndrome almost two decades before, and is given a chance to reunite with the teenager, thanks to the efforts of several of the docs.

The young actor, Nicholas Weiland, who has Down’s syndrome, “broke everybody’s heart” at the episode’s run-through, reports executive producer David Zabel: “He was fantastic.” The episode also features scenes from a few of the show’s more major cases of recent vintage. No former actors show up, but some are expected later in the season — especially if the ER finally closes it doors this season. So far, as TV Guide has reported, Noah Wyle and Gloria Reuben are signed up for duty after the new year. —
