View Full Version : Did I do the right thing?
MonarC 10-27-2007, 11:07 PM OK here's the deal my next door neighbor is a jerk. For some reason he doesn't take care of his pets. I don't know what his problem is but this is the second time this has happened. No water no food and the dog is always hungry. I don't know what happened to his last dog he just disappeared. I always end up feeling sorry for them and feeding them. Well now I feel that he has gone too far. He has a small puppy. Id say it's not even 2 months old. It looks really skinny and you can see it's ribs and it's back bone. It gets really cold at night and he doesn't have any shelter a blanket nothing not even any water. My hubby and I gave it food and water today. Then a while ago I heard the puppy whimpering and it really broke my heart so I called the police. I hate to call the cops on someone but this is really getting to me and I feel like if I don't do something this little puppy might die. Do you guys think I went to far? Or did I do the right thing? I didn't give the police my name or anything I just told them what was going on and he said he would check it out.
Ireneparalegal 10-27-2007, 11:11 PM Oh hell no. Do you have an ASPCA in your area? Or animal control? Someone needs to intervene and you did the right thing. I would be giving those animals food and water too until someone came and did something. Continue doing what you are doing but get those animals help!!!!!!!!
Mr. Television 10-27-2007, 11:15 PM You absolutely did the right thing. Your neighbor really does sound like a jerk.
MonarC 10-27-2007, 11:17 PM Thank you. I already called the local humane society a few days ago but they didn't do anything yet. I hope someone does something or I might just have to do it myself. I hate people who are cruel to animals.
Ireneparalegal 10-27-2007, 11:18 PM A few days ago??? Man, why are they lagging? How humane is that? I PRAY THOSE ANIMALS GET THE HELL OUTTA THAT JERK'S HOUSE!!!!
Max Whittaker 10-27-2007, 11:18 PM By law, an animal must have shelter if it's left outside. If you can see it's ribs, it's lacking nutrition/food/sick, whatever. It should be reported.
You don't need to doubt yourself here. Animal cruelty is very real. And very serious.
Call the ASPCA again.
MonarC 10-27-2007, 11:21 PM Good idea I will call tomorrow.
bingbangbaby 10-27-2007, 11:29 PM Thank you for not being afraid to take action, and thank you for seeing it through until those animals are safe. This kind of thing breaks my heart.
MonarC 10-27-2007, 11:33 PM Yes it really breaks my heart too. :( The fact that its a small puppy really hurts even more.
catlover79 10-27-2007, 11:34 PM Thank you, MonarC, for having the guts to report this inhumane jerk. Call the ASPCA again, or the police, the local animal control or even PETA if you have to!! Don't give up!! Good for you!! :clap

Courtnee 10-28-2007, 12:07 AM You absolutely did the right thing. Your neighbor really does sound like a jerk.
Yeah, that.
OH Nuts! 10-28-2007, 02:25 AM Thank you, MonarC, for having the guts to report this inhumane jerk. Call the ASPCA again, or the police, the local animal control or even PETA if you have to!! Don't give up!! Good for you!! :clap
Yes PETA sounds good. When it comes to animals being mistreated, they don't put up with any sh*t! They may have some good advice or send help. Bless you MonarC for taking action!
dawsongirl 10-28-2007, 02:39 AM On Animal Cops: Houston on Animal Planet, the Houston SPCA is always taking dogs and cats and horses away from people like your neighbor, and someone obviously called them and tipped them off. So don't doubt your decision.
Chocoholic 10-29-2007, 03:07 PM You did the right thing. That creep doesn't deserve to be taking care of animals. Or children.
If anyone knows of any children or animals being mistreated, CALL THE POLICE!!!
