Episode Description: The Keatons' best friends fight over the custody of their little boy with the father eventually kidnapping his son.

I just watched this episode recently and thought it was pretty good. It was a little heavy on the drama with the father kidnapping his son but one of the great things about Family Ties is no matter how dramatic the show could get, they'd always have great jokes or one liners that made you remember that this was still a sitcom. One of the best examples comes from this episode in the scene at the resturant where Steven is talking to Richard about returning his son to his ex-wife:

Richard: How the hell do you know so much about this, Keaton?
Steven: I know you're making a big mistake, buster.
Richard: Don't call me buster, Keaton.
Steven: I didn't call you Buster Keaton.
Richard: Well I didn't say you called me Buster Keaton.
Steven: CAN WE STOP THIS BUSTER KEATON BUSINESS?

Definitely one of the funniest moments ever on the show(IMO). :)

What are your thoughts on this episode?

That was a great episode and powerful showing child abduction when divorce is in play. That is a serious issue and can be damaging to the child. Another thing about the episode is how Steven and Elyse began examining their own relationship and have such an appreciation for each other. I love the chemistry between Michael Gross and Meredith Baxter Birney. They were the Rob and Laura Petrie of the 80s. Too bad there weren't more stories dealing with their relationship. Their love scenes are real and genuine. Meredith is a hot kisser.

I thought it was a good episode. They did a good job at handling a serious issue. And it was interesting seeing David Faustino before Married... with Children.

Me too. Steven and Elyse were my favorite sitcom couple and I agree with you about their love scenes. Michael Gross was one lucky guy.

Yeah, I'd even forgotten that he appeared on FT until I saw this episode recently.

I too recently watched it. It was a very powerful episode like many of the Family Ties epp's. It was cool how they were also able to mix the comedy like that whole buster keaton line mixed in there. In a way most people could relate to this episode Parent or not.

I admit that I watch Family Ties mostly for Alex - but I do like the chemistry between Steven and Elyse, too. I think we've had quite a few episodes in Season two that causes Steven and Elyse to reflect of their relationship with each other.
