Pavan 10-25-2007, 12:24 AM Terry Pratchett’s “Hogfather” Makes Its U.S. Television Debut
New RHI Entertainment Production to Premiere on ION Television November 25
NEW YORK -- Enter into the world of fantasy and imagination with Hogfather, a humorous and satirical miniseries based on the best-selling novel by Terry Pratchett. RHI Entertainment, a leading television production and distribution entity, announced today that Hogfather will make its U.S. television debut during the RHI Movie Weekend on ION Television, Sunday, November 25 (7/6c).
Terry Pratchett’s Hogfather is part of the best-selling fantasy book series that has sold over 41 million copies worldwide. The series takes place in Discworld, a flat world, perched on top of four elephants standing on the shell of a giant turtle that is drifting in space. Here, reality is stretched to its limit, but it’s still populated by humans, just like you and me…almost. Hogfather marks the first novel of the series to be adapted as a live action film.
It’s the night before Hogswatch (Christmas) in the parallel universe of Discworld. The Hogfather (Santa Claus) has gone missing in a plot by the evil Auditors to destroy human belief and make Discworld their own. With the Hogfather nowhere in sight, the character called Death takes his place to deliver presents to all the good girls and boys at the mid-winter festival. Will the presents be delivered? Will hope be restored so that the sun can rise tomorrow? Who will be able to save Discworld?
“Terry Pratchett is among the most prominent authors of our time,” said Robert Halmi, Jr., President and CEO of RHI Entertainment. “We are honored to work with him and are pleased to be the first to unveil Hogfather to a U.S. audience.”
The four-hour holiday miniseries event—which will air in its entirety on November 25, stars David Warner (Titanic), Marc Warren (Band of Brothers), Michelle Dockery (Fingersmith), Joss Ackland (K19 –The Widowmaker), and the voice of Ian Richardson (Bleak House). Hogfather was directed and screen-written by Vadim Jean, and produced by Rod Brown and Ian Sharples. Robert Halmi, Sr., Robert Halmi, Jr. and Elaine Pyke served as executive producers on the project.
“We are thrilled to continue fulfilling our brand promise to our audience with this latest quality original film for RHI Movie Weekend on ION Television,” said Brandon Burgess, CEO of ION Media Networks. “Through the addition of this kind of great content, ION Television can continue to accelerate its recent gains in viewership and attract a wide variety of consumers to our programming.”
RHI is currently filming Terry Pratchett’s, The Color of Magic, which follows the story of inept wizard Ricewind, and is slated to make its U.S. television debut in 2008. Pratchett’s Hogfather will also hit DVD shelves this winter at local Borders retailers.
Scoobiedoo30 10-25-2007, 12:55 AM I take it Perfect Strangers did not do that well in the ratings
Classicshowsgurl15 10-25-2007, 02:24 AM That sucks that Perfect Strangers is gone. I would want Mama's Family to only be on once and Perfect Strangers on at 8 and 8:30pm. There schedule still says that its the Halloween episodes of Perfect Strangers on the 29th and 30th. When do they change their schedule?
Buffyboy323 10-25-2007, 07:35 AM I say recreate the old school ABC lineup by bringing back Growing Pains, and putting it on after Who's The Boss? ;)
TVJunkie101 10-25-2007, 08:39 AM Wow. Why is PS gone already? :(
Perfect Strangers must have really been horrible for them, it was pulled faster than anything else that I can recall on there. Which is a shame, because it's a good show. I guess it just hasn't held up well.
Surprised Designing Women has lasted so. I'm also surprised Diagnosis Murder isn't back, I was thinking maybe they would have put it on at 7 and given DW the shaft.

Perfect Strangers Halloween episodes are Oct. 24 and 25 now.
Perfect Strangers must have really been horrible for them, it was pulled faster than anything else that I can recall on there. Which is a shame, because it's a good show. I guess it just hasn't held up well.
I'm not sure. It might have been ratings obviously, but it could have been something else. I will find out.
It is a great show. It must have a lot of fans because the Seasons 1 and 2 DVD which is not coming until Feb. 5, is like in top 50 on Amazon right now. It is selling like hotcakes!
thebloodyscot 10-25-2007, 01:03 PM Yeah, every show before was at least given two months. This is unfair to the show and the fans. They gave us what we wanted, then yanked it off. Strange how the ratings were bad, the show is already popular on dvd. I'll be sure to get that when it's released. And the show lasted at least a year every other time it was in syndication. I can't believe Doc and Sue Thomas do better in the ratings. I got every episode on tape that they showed though, as well as some from before and the dvd episode, so I'll be sure to watch those and the online episodes until the dvd's released.

chris31989 10-25-2007, 01:40 PM How can they judge PS's performance based on the first few seasons? I heard the Chronicle days were better anyway. I wanted to see Harriette from Family Matters. Ugh.
I LOVE Mama's Family, but isn't it about time it gives up the 8PM slot. ION should move it to 7PM.
Pavan 10-25-2007, 01:42 PM In my opinion, they should do this:
6:00PM Growing Pains
6:30PM Perfect Strangers
7:00PM The Wonder Years
7:30PM Designing Women
8:00PM Mama's Family
8:30PM Mama's Family
9:00PM Who's the Boss?
9:30PM Who's the Boss?
10:00PM 48 Hours / Sue Thomas / Doc
Scoobiedoo30 10-25-2007, 01:51 PM I am with you Pavan put all Tinmes Central Time
Growings Pains at 5:00 pm
Perfect Strangers at 5:30 pm
at 6:00 pm Alice
at 6:30 pm Designing Women
at 7:00 pm Mama's Family
at 7:30 pm Mama's Family
at 8:00 pm Who's The Boss
at 8:30 pm Who's The Boss
at 9:00 pm 48 Hours Monday and Thursday
and Sue Thomas Tuesday and Wednesday
clarkkent 10-25-2007, 03:33 PM OMG, I cannot believe that the show has been pulled already, after only 4 weeks! They didn't even give it a chance to earn any ratings. Now they're going back to have two EXTREMELY unfunny episodes of Designing Women. PLEASE!!!! I can only hope that the people at ION read these blogs and give it another shot. Maybe change the time slot or something. Now I guess I'll have to get the DVD, though I didn't really plan on it because I thought I'd get to see them on ION. For a show that lasted over 7 seasons in its initial run, I would have assumed there would be huge interest in watching them again. Oh well.
JulieSomoski 10-25-2007, 03:36 PM In my opinion, they should do this:
6:00PM Growing Pains
6:30PM Perfect Strangers
7:00PM The Wonder Years
7:30PM Designing Women
8:00PM Mama's Family
8:30PM Mama's Family
9:00PM Who's the Boss?
9:30PM Who's the Boss?
10:00PM 48 Hours / Sue Thomas / Doc
That's a nice schedule pavan. Only exception is PS at 7pm, ad TWy at 6:30 would be better for me.
It's too bad PS didn't last too long. I was looking forward to the post-season 2 episodes, too. I really hope they bring it back soon. Now I'm sorry I didn't watch it when it was on.
Pavan 10-25-2007, 03:37 PM Watch tonight, especially 9pm, both episodes are post S2.
JulieSomoski 10-25-2007, 03:55 PM Watch tonight, especially 9pm, both episodes are post S2.
I'll watch, no doubt about it. I should probably tape them, too, since their post season 2.
Whatever happened to them expanding? I guess that's pretty much out of the question now...
Rezny@gmail.com 10-25-2007, 04:34 PM But remember one thing:And this is 100%true.ION,like TVLand,Hallmark(which is in need of an overhaul, too),and all the other cable outlets, local stations, all have programming directors and THEY have the FINAL SAY as to what is aired and hat isn't.I wish they'd change, too,at ION,and bring back shows "The Partridge Family","Green Acres","Alice",Amen","Growing Pains" and "The Monkees",ALL shows ION USED to carry, but don't now.
GolfDude 10-25-2007, 05:56 PM are you sure about the PS stuff pavan?
b/c the ion website says PS will be back Nov 5th.. with mama only covering next week's PS Shows...
with PS getting 830 again the following week
Pavan 10-25-2007, 06:10 PM The ION website is wrong. I have their official grids through Nov. 30, and there is no PS. And the interview I'm supposed to do for them is on hold. They told me: "...we are in the midst of making some decisions concerning programming changes and will get back to you when we are prepared to discuss."
jayman75 10-25-2007, 06:27 PM Well, I guess that solves the other riddle (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showpost.php?p=3692387&postcount=42)...
Why can't I link to the post and show what comes after it?
ION has such potential to be a retro-TV network. If they'd just give it time, it might work out for them!
Scoobiedoo30 10-25-2007, 08:06 PM what is The Riddle
VisualSensation 10-25-2007, 09:13 PM It's weird that they haven't advertised the stunt at all. They are just showing the episodes as if they didn't have a common theme. Wow, they must reall want to get rid of it.
tazz765 10-25-2007, 09:38 PM Funny how they are still advertising a show that they plan on dropping. You would think they would be promoting something else. Then again I guess ION doesn't have the smartest people in the world working for them since they drop a good show like PS.

10:00PM Diagnosis Murder (replaces Sue Thomas)
Scoobiedoo30 10-26-2007, 06:07 PM This is Great News
rodwayne 10-29-2007, 03:25 PM Everone should know that it's too good to be true that a network would show anything classic. That because, they don't know the meaning of the word!More of this rant on my thread.
ClassicTVGal 10-30-2007, 11:11 PM That *is* ashame. ION doesn't give shows that much a chance! And isn't Designing Women on TVLand now too?
I do still wish ION would bring Silver Spoons to their line-up.
LeeBlue 10-30-2007, 11:49 PM Silver Spoons was a good show -- fans are trying to get it onto TVLand's schedule. If you go over to the TVLand Message Boards and hit Programming Suggestions, there's a thread started for Webster, Silver Spoons... Every signature would help.

Too bad they couldn't have replaced it with like TWY, for example.
Scoobiedoo30 11-02-2007, 12:29 PM Or Growings Pains and Alice
JulieSomoski 11-02-2007, 12:35 PM Or Growings Pains and Alice
I would have loved to see Growing Pains back as well.
If anyone cares, Bogdog Fight is gone Tues & Sat, replaced by Time Life Music.LOL, I'm surprised it lasted this long.
I'm no expert, but I see very little future in this network if they keep operating it this way.... this has been going on nearly 10 years and the network has hardly gotten anywhere. It's a wonder they've made it this far.
Does anyone know if they are doing better now or when they were at their height (producing new Doc/STFBE episodes, had Dr. Quinn, Eight is Enough, Bonanza, Diagnosis Murder, AFV, game shows, etc) as PAX?

Personally, I've never liked Perfect Strangers. I always felt they contained too much slapstick and the plotlines were too outlandish. Now, if it was more cerebral, a la Mr. Belvedere, I think it would've been a better show.
icecream 11-03-2007, 12:31 PM If anyone cares, Bogdog Fight is gone Tues & Sat, replaced by Time Life Music.good riddance
Using ION's logic, I'd expect something like this for December:
6:00PM Holiday episodes
7:00PM Doc (Mon, Thurs) Sue Thomas (Tues, Wed)
8:00PM Mama's Family
8:30PM Who's the Boss?
9:00PM Diagnosis Murder
10:00PM 48 Hours
And the movies and other stuff on weekends.
JulieSomoski 11-03-2007, 10:00 PM Pavan, is ION even allowed to air 48 Hours more than 2 times a week, or is that their choice?
Classicshowsgurl15 11-04-2007, 05:35 AM If anyone cares, Bogdog Fight is gone Tues & Sat, replaced by Time Life Music.

Small world -- I'm also a fan of Mr. Belvedere. I wish ION or TVLand would bring this show back.
Jude The Obscure 11-06-2007, 06:23 PM Well, it looks like the alternative to TV Land is more looking likely to be RTN. Here's hoping they keep expanding to more and more affiliates (which hopefully means more cable carriage). I'm in disbelief that I can see Love, American Style again everyday! :)
thebloodyscot 11-07-2007, 03:50 AM Small world -- I'm also a fan of Mr. Belvedere. I wish ION or TVLand would bring this show back.
I like and miss Mr. Belvedere too. I've only seen two episodes recently on the internet and wish that was on dvd or tv. RTN seems good from what I've seen.
Pavan 11-08-2007, 04:10 PM ION Television Network to Move to High Definition DTV Quality
Company to Migrate its Flagship Broadcast Network, ION Television, to High Definition Digital Quality in the First Quarter of 2008
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- ION Media Networks, Inc. (AMEX:ION) today announced the launch of ION Television HD, the high definition television (HDTV) version of the company's flagship network, ION Television. ION Television HD will air ION Television's full lineup of programming in high definition beginning in the first quarter of next year.
ION Television HD will be transmitted in 720p HD, and will be delivered over-the-air via DTV broadcast, cable, telco-TV and satellite. The network will feature native and up-converted HD programming, and will be carried on all 60 of ION Media Network's television stations around the country.
"Launching ION HD is the next step in our multi-platform digital strategy," said Brandon Burgess, CEO, ION Media Networks. "The transformation of our network to digital from analog, and the conversion of ION Television to HD, will allow us to deliver to our distribution partners and television audience HD-quality content and additional special-interest digital networks, and uniquely positions us for new distribution models and platforms."
ION Television HD will dramatically enhance viewers' experience with the breathtaking visual clarity and rich, lifelike color characteristic of high definition. Viewers will discover a new level of enjoyment with the flagship network's daily programming lineup, which includes popular family shows, like "Mama's Family" and "Who's the Boss?," and sports and reality programs, such as "NFL Game of the Week" and "48 Hours." ION Television HD will also enable audiences to experience, as never before, the network's exciting RHI Entertainment award-winning movies and original miniseries, such as "Lonesome Dove" and "Journey to the Center of the Earth."
Scoobiedoo30 11-08-2007, 04:31 PM This may be a Stupid Question but what does P stan for in 720p
JulieSomoski 11-08-2007, 04:53 PM it's about time they went HD. Hopefully this means a picture that most of us can see from now on-LOL. God, they have to have the worst video of any network ever.
Roseanne, do you watch ION on a local affiliate or one of the national feeds? I've heard horrible things about some of the affiliates (poor sound, video, signal quality, etc). When I watched it on DirecTV it looked what I'd consider marginal.
At least they're making some sort of improvement in some area. I still say they should make themselves available for digital subchannels to improve their coverage.

You know, now that I think about, I'm pretty sure it is a local affilate now. I'll have to check it out. Anyways, the video is horrible. Lines come across the picture, you can see tons of dust (but that's probably just from the actual episode), the screen goes black for a few seconds once in awhile, the editing is the worst I've ever seen. I've just never seen such bad quality on television before.
It's really hard to tell these days, because they don't use ANY local branding anymore, do they? I know they used to be branded like "PAX47", "PAX51", etc, but I don't think they're localized anymore. None of the affiliates have websites anymore. That's the funny thing about ION's affiliates - they apparently don't let them program the non-ION times on their own, requiring them to carry all of those infomercials.
Pavanbadal, a question - I know you can't be sure, but do you think we'll ever see any more out of this network? An expansion or anything? Here we are over a year later and it's basically the same as it was.
Pavan 11-08-2007, 08:09 PM ION is not ready to discuss their future programming, as that quote they gave us indicated.
Jude The Obscure 11-09-2007, 03:19 PM Wow--ION is really just....okay, let's just say I'm glad to have a RTN station now in my area!

It is hard to tell. They're is nothing at all to tell me if it is local or not. No matter what, it isn't hard to tell how badly done the video is. It's almost embarrassing.

Wow, I'm surprised their returning it. I would have thought they would returned like Alice or TWY before Amen. Anyways, its better than Doc.
And has anyone noticed that they're making quite sudden schedule changes lately? Usually, they come up with one scheudle, then don't change it for 2 months. IMO, they shouldn't air they're originals . . . they just keep getting replaced.

Yeah, this is what...Amen's third run on the network? Doc and Sue Thomas...but both had around 60-70 episodes each, didn't they? That's not a whole lot. They seem to be wanting to squeeze every little drop out of the PAX days that they possibly can.
Doc, Sue Thomas, and Diagnosis Murder are the three shows on this network that if they're removed, you can be pretty confident they'll be back at some point.

JulieSomoski 11-11-2007, 12:59 PM what happend to the A team rumors it was going be on 1on several months ago
I didn't even know there was a rumor A-Team was coming to ION.
Pavan 11-11-2007, 01:00 PM Because there wasn't a rumor. It is a show they have access to, but it doesn't mean they will air it.

That explains it then-LOL. I think it would be a risky move to air it, anyways, just because it would take up an hour of their programming, whereas the only hour drama they've aired (besides their originals) before was DM.
48 Hours is sort of a drama....more of a newsmagazine-type, but it's an hour.

I should have said drama, then. Diagnosis Murder was a drama, but I don't know a thing about that show. A-Team was one of the most popular shows of the eighties, but I'm not sure if it would fit in best with the other shows on the lineup.
Jude The Obscure 11-14-2007, 03:27 AM ION also aired Charlie's Angels for a few months.
Buffyboy323 11-14-2007, 08:42 AM It is hard to tell. They're is nothing at all to tell me if it is local or not. No matter what, it isn't hard to tell how badly done the video is. It's almost embarrassing.
LOL!
When I used to watch Growing Pains and The Wonder Years, and now The occasional Who's The Boss?, I feel like my head hurts afterwards from squinting. The picture is all blurry. It's kind of sad, since all 3 of these shows were on in the early 1990's. That's one thing I have to give Nick at Nite credit for; Their picture quality is very clear. The Cosby Show is the oldest show they have, and it looks great.
friendsfan77 11-14-2007, 10:54 AM Yeah, you'd think they'd try to get clearer prints of the shows they have before even trying to go HD. Like that's gonna help any.

I know! That had me scratching my head too.
chris31989 11-14-2007, 11:44 AM On my DISH Network program guide and possibly TVguide.com, it lists the Mama's Family Thanksgiving marathon for Wednesday the 21st, not the 22nd. Is this a mistake, or are they really doing it on Wednesday this year.
Pavan 11-14-2007, 01:03 PM I'm checking on that...they might have moved it Wednesday. I don't think listings have caught the Amen move yet.
JulieSomoski 11-14-2007, 04:28 PM LOL!

Yeah . . . The Wonder Years was terrible. Growing Pains was the same way . . . the picture was so blurry you could barely make it out. Who's the Boss? is better though.

Who's The Boss? does look better...But it's still not clear as it was on other channels.
Poor Wonder Years; The picture quality was horrible. The editing was the worse I've ever seen. And now it's gone.
chris31989 11-14-2007, 10:05 PM UPDATE:
The Mama's Family Thanksgiving marathon will in fact be on Wednesday the 21st from 7-11PM instead of the 22nd. I just saw an ad for the marathon on ION.
The regular schedule (which includes Amen at 6PM) will air on Thanksgiving Day.

I saw the same ad during WTB tonight. Wonder why they're not airing a Thanksgiving stunt on Thanksgiving?
Pavan 11-15-2007, 06:38 PM ION December is coming soon, but I'm holding off on it because 7-8pm Mon-Thurs is TBD all month long starting Dec. 3 (or could be Nov. 26 now...). Probably some holiday episodes. Kung Fu is returning in December on Saturdays, more to come in the Dec. thread.
Not surprised - I figured Designing Women would be leaving (or at least off the schedule) soon.
My bets are that Amen is gone in 2 months.

I'm surprised DW lasted as long as it has. I watched when it first came on, but I haven't watched it in months. I got bored of it really fast.
So will the 7pm hour most likely be a new show or hilday episodes all month?
Pavan 11-16-2007, 05:12 PM 7-8pm is TBD. Details when announced.
Scoobiedoo30 11-16-2007, 05:56 PM I hope that The To Be Announced is Growings Pains and Alice from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm Central Time
Pavan 11-17-2007, 05:49 PM Schedule change!
Mon-Thurs, effect. Nov. 26, 2007
7:30PM Alice (replaces Designing Women)
Scoobiedoo30 11-17-2007, 05:50 PM all I can say is Welcome Back to The Ion Schedule Alice I wonder what going to air at 6:00 pm.
Pavan 11-17-2007, 05:52 PM I didn't say anything for 7pm ET, which obviously means Designing Women is staying and airing in that slot.
Scoobiedoo30 11-17-2007, 05:54 PM I was hoping Growings Pains would aired at 6:00 pm Central Time
JulieSomoski 11-17-2007, 06:25 PM Good to hear Alice is back! Looking forward to watching it again!
Too bad Amen is airing 2 episodes a night. I don't really care for that show, and would have much rathered Growing Pains, The Wonder Years, or more Alice in that slot.
Ireneparalegal 11-17-2007, 08:02 PM I am soooo glad for Alice's return. Absolutely great news.
Scoobiedoo30 11-17-2007, 08:04 PM How long has Alice been off of The Ion line up
Ireneparalegal 11-17-2007, 08:08 PM Since June.
Scoobiedoo30 11-17-2007, 08:49 PM thanks
Pavan 11-21-2007, 01:49 AM Alice will air 7 and 7:30pm starting Dec. 3. So 7:30pm is just for the week of Nov. 26, then a week later it will air for a full hour from 7-8pm Mon-Thurs starting Dec. 3.
See December thread for details.
Pavan 11-21-2007, 03:53 PM Firebrand TV is finally launching. Mon-Thurs at 11pm starting Monday.
MikeLutton 11-21-2007, 03:58 PM cool what is firebrand tv
JulieSomoski 11-21-2007, 04:06 PM Firebrand TV is finally launching. Mon-Thurs at 11pm starting Monday.
Wow, what a big launch.
chris31989 11-22-2007, 08:12 PM During the Mama's Family marathon, ION was advertising a New-year's eve marathon of The Drew Carey Show. Is Drew Carey going to air regularly in January or just a one time event?
Going by their past history, Id be willing to bet it's coming in January. They have done marathons before shows come before.
I bet Drew C. will come in January and air 9-10. It's about time they pulled WTB?, seeing how they've done their other shows.

I doubt they'd pull WTB. It's been doing well for them since it launched back in July. They'll probably replace it with an airing of Amen of Alice most likely. I'd like to see them put it at 10pm, because I usually have nothing good to watch then :D
Besides that, I couldn't be happier Drew Carey is coming. Definitely an unexpected move I'd say, because that show seems really new for their lineup, but who cares? WB has most likely abandoned it on DVD, and TBS didn't renew it's contract this fall, so it's good to see the show come back!
I'd really like to see ION air holiday episodes from all their shows. Airing only episoes from 3 shows is very boring. Last year they aired episodes from tons of different shows. Growing Pains and The Wonder Years had some great Christmas episodes, plus the others like Alice, Amen, and Designing Women.
Scoobiedoo30 11-23-2007, 03:34 PM maybe Ion will add an Hour and Put Drew Cary at 4:00 pm and 4:30 pm Central Time
JulieSomoski 11-23-2007, 03:37 PM maybe Ion will add an Hour and Put Drew Cary at 4:00 pm and 4:30 pm Central Time
Like that'll happen
I'd love to see Drew Carey at either 10pm or 6pm, because those 2 are the best hours for me. 9 is also good, but I'd hate to see them replace WTB. Maybe an episode of WTB at 9 and Drew Carey at 9:30?
Scoobiedoo30 11-23-2007, 03:42 PM well 9:00 pm and 9:30 pm Central Time would make a great Time show for Drew Carey Show
Pavan 11-26-2007, 10:15 AM Firebrand Makes Its Debut as the First Multi-Platform Network Dedicated to Commercial Culture
ION Television and Firebrand.com Feature Best Spots from Around the World, Playlists, Favorite Brands, Special Promotions Commercial Celebrities Make Guest Appearances
NEW YORK, Nov. 26 -- Firebrand, a revolutionary new network that programs only the best television commercials, makes its multi-platform debut tonight on the ION Television Network at 11 pm ET, and simultaneously 24/7 with streaming video on http://www.firebrand.com. In addition, Firebrand will be available for mobile on demand and via iTunes' free downloads.
Firebrand features the most creative advertising, best video game trailers and special promotions, providing a unique destination for commercial culture. Firebrand programs TV commercials the way music networks have programmed music videos. "Viewers are encouraged to 'Opt-in, Search, Download and Share' their favorite spots on TV, the web and mobile," says John A. Lack, Chief Executive Officer/Co-Founder.
As Firebrand premieres on ION Television, consumers will see a line-up of the familiar, funny, sexy, controversial, edgy, poignant, and downright ridiculous. In the first hour on Firebrand, viewers will see spots from renowned directors like David Fincher, catch commercials that feature great actors like Clive Owen, and view a new twist on a Madonna video in a spot all the way from Egypt. Viewers will also be able to enjoy some of the best ads from past Super Bowls.
"As a consumer, I had wondered why great commercials didn't have a channel of their own," says Roman Vinoly, Chief Creative Officer/Co-Founder. "What marginalizes commercials is the programming that interrupts it, not the other way around."
Firebrand will enlist the aid of "Commercial Jockeys" or "CJs" who will guide the viewing audience through award-winning ads, exclusives, director's cuts and never-before-seen-on-TV commercials. In its first month, Firebrand will feature commercial celebrities like the Dell Dude, Ben Curtis, Capitol One's angel, Jay Klaitz, and the young star of Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, Zach Mills. Each will make a guest appearance on Firebrand, talking about their favorite commercials, setting up spots and sharing their playlists.
"Firebrand is the best of commercial culture dished up in a way to appeal best to the group most likely to 'get it' -- the Gen Y Millennials -- who are already checking out this stuff online, on TV and on their mobile devices," says Shari F. Leventhal, Chief Marketing Officer.
To kick off the holidays in style, Firebrand will launch its "Twelve Days of Firebrand," with a daily prize giveaway that gets better each day. Prizes will include Xbox, video iPod Nanos and a grand prize that includes VIP tickets to professional football's biggest game.
Major investors in Firebrand include Microsoft, NBC Universal and GE's Peacock Equity Fund. Firebrand can always be found at http://www.firebrand.com, http://www.itunes.com, weeknights on ION television network from 11 PM -12 AM ET, and coming soon on http://www.adweek.com. If you love a good commercial, you're going to love Firebrand.
