View Full Version : Kevin Costner: 'I Don't Care About Box Office Success'
Brian Damage 10-24-2007, 10:28 PM Hollywood actor Kevin Costner is unfazed by how badly his films fare at the box office - because he's "fearless". The Dances with Wolves star hasn't made a hit film in years, but he insists he prefers to take risks than be a big-screen hit.
He tells British film magazine Little White Lies, "It's about being fearless, I've never been afraid of whether of not I'm number one at the box office. I like to do cowboy movies. They play into my sensibility of going alone, with all the possessions you own on the back of your horse. I know that I'm kind of suited to that kind of film.''
catlover79 10-24-2007, 10:29 PM I guess not - when was the last time he starred in a bona-fide hit??
Ireneparalegal 10-24-2007, 10:32 PM Ohhhhh, the old "I don't care abt a hit movie...I just want to make movies" excuse.

We all know his high quality films like For Love of the Game, Waterworld, 3000 Miles to Graceland, and Rumor Has It.
Ireneparalegal 10-24-2007, 10:41 PM Waterworld...:brent How much money went down the tubes for that pile of feces?

I don't know - PLENTY. The media started calling it "Kevin's Gate" after another legendary bomb, Heaven's Gate. They also called it "Fishtar" after the vaunted Hoffman/Beatty dud, Ishtar.

Those were horrible. :puke:
That should be a crime to waste so much money on sh*t movies like that.

Never saw any of them - and I'm not starting now!! :seeya:
Dean Winchester 10-25-2007, 12:01 AM it's funny how important the "good guy" image was for his career. As soon as it turned out he was cheating on his wife in the mid-90's, out went his career for the most part

didn't know he had a career to begin with but anyway those movies bombed in the box office didn't they? no offence but as an actor, costner comes across as kinda dull. look at the types of movies he has starred in. waterworld was lame as **** though wasn't it?

i hadn't known that he'd cheated on his wife, but still the majority of his movies have a grade C- , straight-to-dvd feel to it
LuLu Rogers 10-25-2007, 01:36 PM The only movie I really think Kevin Costner performed well in is JFK. I LOVE this movie and I think he got his character down to a tea.
Dean Winchester 10-25-2007, 03:31 PM I think his comments about box office success would be more realistic if he was doing movies he felt were important and trying to make a stand or whatever. Instead he's just taking bad B-movies because that's all he can get these days.
Considering the movies he's done in the past decade, he can't exactly play the Leonardo DiCaprio "I'm a huge star, but I only take roles I find important" route. 3000 Miles To Graceland is hardly Blood Diamond.
isiahthomas 10-29-2007, 05:18 PM His last movie he did, Mr Brooks i liked. That was his 2nd time playing a bad guy. Kevin Costner is a good actor. LOL@him getting his ass beat badly in Revenge movie with Anthony Quinn and Madeleine Stowe. Madeleine is hot but if i was Kevin, i wouldn't have had a affair with her since Anthony was her husband and a mob boss.
catlover79 10-29-2007, 06:00 PM Maybe he should just stick to villain roles for awhile.

or even better yet, call it quits
