Hi all you Lucy fans!

I believe we have the best board on the site: the most activity, the most fun, and definitely the most savvy contributors anywhere.

It would be interesting to find out where we rank on SOL; who could rival us?

Anyway, I am proud to be a member of the ILL discussions. We can hold our heads high in regard to the quality product we all admire.

There are hundreds of shows that come and go, but there are many reasons why "I Love Lucy" endures and appeals to many generations.

Thanks for your interest, and have fun!

Funny you made this thread. I had thought of doing this. I am glad it was you though who finally did it. I had been thinking the other day when we were really going at it here as far as posting on the ILL board. I realized that we have a small clique here, but a HUGE ADMIRATION FOR ILL and the information we share and learn from each other. We don't argue with one another. We don't get upset over things, we seem to genuinely have a great friendship here with our group. I know we have had some jerks come in here and stir the pot, but we held our heads up high and we pushed them out as a team. You knock one of us, YOU KNOCK US ALL. I would defend anyone of you from any tryant or troll who seeks to put their worthless posts here. :patriot:

WE ARE AWESOME!!!!!!

it was a brand new car in 1955 though....also the first year of the big Pontiac V8, and the second to LAST year of the famous Pontiac "Silver Streaks" hood decoration.

Anyone got a pic of the "Big Four" in the car?

This one is hard to tell, but this is where Ricky turns into the hotel in L.A. and cuts off another car. Look how close the other car is at the rear of the Pontiac.

Funny you should say that because, back in 1955, Pontiac was considered GM's popular MIDSIZE car
ps. I notice the TV car looks nearly identical to the one i posted, except it seems to have the extra cost "spoke" wheels and bumper guards

hmm, I just noticed something, they used more than one car here...the car in the second pic doesnt have the extra charge bumper guards , but, the car in the 4th pic (that appears to be stuck in the mud ) DOES!!!
(unless its a resolution thing and the 2nd pic just isnt clear enough to see them???)

You can't really see this in the pictures, but when you watch the episode when they leave on the trip you can plainly see that there's no windshield on the Pontiac!

Irene, I don't watch ILL on TV Land, but that scene is on the DVD.

Yes, Girlfriend! If you blink or sneeze, then God bless you! It is a real fast clip, because most of the episode is based on the Brown Derby and the William Holden thing, so their arrival becomes trivial.

It's funny how they travelled thousands of miles in that car, and then when they get to Hollywood, they had to depend on public transportation to function.

I would believe it in New York, but for us Californians, being without a car is a bizarre concept. Right you guys? I am a fourth generation Californian, and our entire family absolutely loved watching "I Love Lucy, but we could never relate to being without cars!"

You are correct sir, on the pics of the "close up" car, theres no windsheild, and the reason for this is, its virtually impossible to film faces through a car windsheild on closeups without distortion and the TV lights glaring off the glass. For long shots, they set up special lighting IN the car that lights up the passengers faces. (Otherwise, theyd be virtual shadows) This might also explain why there seems to be some physical differences between the studio "close-up car," and the "road" car

Yep! Unfortunately everything is spread out, and we don't have subways. The underground is either bedrock or ocean. What choice is there? I know in the SF Bay area where I was born and raised and lived for 47 years, a traffic snarl is a way of life. In SF, there is ocean on one side, and the bay on the other. Bridges connect the sides of the bay, and there is Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), that is a lame excuse for a transportation system. To get out of the Bay Area for a trip means adding 1-2 hours just to get out.

I agree, Californians are spoiled; even with the transportation problems, it may be the best state in the U.S. with all it has to offer.

Come visit!
