The poolside sequences at the Beverly Palms Hotel were actually
filmed at the Hollywood Roosevelt. Even after all the renovations
in recent years, you can still recognize it today.

This one is definitely not true. That pool was a set created on the regular I Love Lucy soundstage, which is very obvious if you look at the very stagey backgroud. In fact, the pool was only a few feet deep. I'm sure the one at the Roosevelt is much deeper.

 I know, that for sure is a set. The Roosevelt pool area was much much larger. I actually seen a pic of that pool area a long time ago. I wonder if I can find it on the net?

As a matter of fact, here is a link that shows a small pic of that pool area. I know it has been renovated and such, but you can easily see how large the pool area is. There is also a mural painted at the bottom of the pool.

I have seen the Roosevelt from the outside, but never had the luxury of ever trying to actually set foot in there.

If that were true, I'd be advising all pool guests at the Roosevelt: Don't dive!

I wonder if I can find it on the net?

I found a few pics. It doesn't look much like the Beverly Palms to me!

You don't have to be a guest to set foot in there! In fact, I highly recommend you step inside. There's an area (or at least used to be), I think on the second floor, where they have a bunch of old Hollywood pictures, sort of a history of Hollywood starting from before there was any in the Hollywood area at all, except orange orchards. It's like a little museum in there. You should definitely check it out next time you're in the neighborhood. And the beautiful old art deco architecture and interior of the hotel is also a treat to see.

Nice shots Rick!

I believe what they were thinking is that the set was made to resemble the poolside at the Roosevelt Hotel, not that it was actually filmed there. The poolside is I believe called the Tropicana poolside, something like that.

That's probably it, or else someone is just trying to start a rumor! By the way, while we're on the subject of the hotel in I Love Lucy, it is noteworthy that, with the view from the Ricardo's room, it could not possibly be located in Beverly Hills. Directly out that window, you can see some of the buildings from the middle of Hollywood, plus very prominently the famous Hollywood sign. That is NOT a view you can find anywhere in Beverly Hills, but only from the middle of Hollywood itself!

Oh yeah, that is indeed Cher's mom, Georgia Holt. But you see her so very briefly, you almost have to freeze frame the scene to recognize her.

Awww Stacy, thanx so much!!!! You are such a sweetheart for doing that screencap of Cher's mom for us. You gotta tell me how to do screencaps. I know I put the DVD in the computer, use paint and capture the screen while it is in pause, but when I do it, the whole computer monitor screen is saved!

I remember reading where Tom Bosley and Lucille Ball did not get along during the filming of "Yours Mine and Ours". She didn't like his acting style or something to that effect and tried to coach him. It apparently did go well and he was almost fired by Lucy but retained by the film's director when he convinced her they didn't have time to recast the part.

I guess that explains his totally tacky and mean comments to the press after Lucy's death. I always wondered what happened between them for him to say those things.
