Ireneparalegal 10-19-2007, 02:07 PM Well, as for me, we are getting ready to leave out of town to Santa Barbara. My step-daughter is getting married tomorrow. My boyfriend has already left to Santa Barbara to help with last minute details. My kids and I will leave around 6 p.m. My son goes to school, my daughters don't get off from work til 5 p.m. We are all leaving today for the weekend. We will stay until Sunday.
On Sunday, my boyfriend and I will go the casino in Santa Ynez Valley and spend the day there. He is off til Monday, so we are going to make this a long weekend. We will return late Sunday.
catlover79 10-19-2007, 02:41 PM Not much planned aside from church. I have a few errands to run tomorrow, maybe tomorrow or Sunday I'll go to my sister's house.
HugeTVFan 10-19-2007, 02:43 PM The weekend is going to reek for me. Tomorrow is the only day that'll have any activity--I'll do nothing at all on Sunday, I think. So church and park on Saturday--Sunday--something at home.
HE Pennypacker 10-19-2007, 03:34 PM It's election day tomorrow in Louisiana, so first thing I'm doing is going down to vote. Beyong that, who knows...though I do have to go to the bank and cut my grass :(
PZelda 10-19-2007, 04:24 PM I have no idea. I may or may not have to go back home... my paternal grandpa is dying and was given only a week to live (that was on Monday) so we're waiting on that. If my grandpa dies anytime before this coming Monday, we're getting in the car and booking it back to ND. If not, I'm getting on a Greyhound bus on Monday night and going back to ND to live there again (for good).
I have to work tonight, I usually have Friday nights off, so I'll sleep in on Saturday. I'd like to go riding Sunday but it depends on if my husband & son want to.
PZelda 10-19-2007, 08:48 PM Allison, I am so sorry to hear about your grandfather:(
Mm, thanks. I'm not surprised, though - it's getting to be his time. Right now, he's 92. Supposed to turn 93 in December. I'm impressed he made it past 90 as nobody on that side of the family has made it to 90 (as far as I know). His health has been going downhill the last few years but this past year has been pretty bad. He had some sort of a stroke on Monday, pretty much rendering him unable to do anything (go to the bathroom by himself, eat, drink, etc). So it's just a matter of time now.
I got so used to hearing my dad say "Allison, this could be his last reunion," or "Allison, this could be his last family get-together," or "Allison, this could be his last Christmas," over the last... oh... six years (since at least 2001) that I would get mad at him for saying that. My grandpa ALWAYS made it to the next reunion, family gathering or Christmas... but now it's sinking in that this is TRULY the last time.
I'm not THAT close to him or anything. But wow. When he does pass on, I'll only have two grandmas (I still have my stepgrandparents, though, and they're in their 70s and in great health, so I'm not worried). That's pretty weird to think about. It's also pretty wild that I've made it to 22 and still have both my grandmas. Wondering if I can make it to 30 and still have at least one grandma. That's still not for another 7+ years yet, though, so I won't worry about that now either.
PZelda 10-19-2007, 09:00 PM Well, you are blessed to have both of your grandmothers, still alive when you are now an adult; both of mine, died when I was in my teens; well, my paternal grandmother was in her 80s (she had my dad, late in life)..
That's very true. :)
I actually did have the first grandpa pass away when I was just a kid - this was before I was a teen (I was 11). So, in a way, I know what that's like.
My paternal grandma was just 18 when my grandparents had their first kid, so they have a ton of great-grandchildren because of that (my second cousins). My oldest second cousin (their oldest great-grandchild) is 19 now, so THAT is impressive in itself that my grandpa has lived to see all his great-grandchildren thus far be born. I wish everybody is able to experience that... it's pretty neat. :)
Courtnee 10-19-2007, 09:47 PM Tomorrow I have to decorate the stage for the talent show, sell some ads, and get my boss to sign my work permit.
I have nothing going on this weekend!
A bike ride tomorrow morning, maybe some laundry, room cleaning, nap, then some drinking Saturday night.
Living the dream baby!
;)
freshprinceofLA 10-20-2007, 02:53 PM Hey hows everyone's doing????
Friday was quite a day. I walked to the mall after school and bought Family Ties season 2 at Target and bought a Sean John shirt for get this...$6  at Macy's those usually got for like 30$. After that met up with a couple of friends to get a bite and then just got home and relaxed.
Well todays Saturday I got a lot of studying to do for some Monday tests so I'm stuck studying I guess I hope something fun comes up but I gotta study my ass off first.
ENJOY THE WEEKEND
