Bob Barker ask Contestants when they were Spinning the Wheel did they want to say hi to anybody back home? Or was this something stupid Drew added to the show?

Yeah, Bob did that for a long time. Seems to me Solomon, you didn't watch the show. You only watched when it was the last shows with Bob. True fans of the show know abt Bob asking the contestants to "say hi" to family.

Bob would always allow contestants to say hello to friends & family & what not after they spun the wheel while it was spinning but he would not usually openly invite" shout outs" like drew is doing now. He would allow it if the contestants asked

Hello Drew is not Bob Barker. Change is very hard when we are used to seeing one person in a spot for so long. Drew Carey is a welcome change. Bob worked my nerves at the end with his running out of patience with the contestants, rushing the games and the contestants. Maybe Drew will not bring the scandals that Bob brought with him and the models on the show. He needs to make the show his own and not trying to make him like Bob.

There are some shows I had a hard time with changes of that nature like Good Morning America when Joan Lunden was replaced. She was Good Morning America and I looked forward to her. Password Plus when Allen Ludden was taken down with cancer and no longer could do the show it was not the same and it was hard to accept even Tom Kennedy did a great job with the circumstances he came to the show under. Paul Rodriguez replacement for Bob Eubanks on The Newlywed Game was a disaster.

Again, Drew is doing a good job and we need to give him a chance to come through.

Well that's what I don't understand, if he has been the host of other shows, why is he so nervous on TPIR? He needs to give Viewers the Feel that it's NOW HIS SHOW instead of looking like a Fill-in

You go girl!!! Speak.

As I stated given it was his first week and knowing he was under a microscope by the media and fans Drew handled it well. He is not trying to be like Bob Barker nor any other game show host. He is himself and making it his own show. That's what he needs to do to make it work. Now that is my opinion and take on this. Replacing an icon such as Bob Barker is no easy task.

Ireneparalegal

And no matter who they got to replace Bob, no one would be happy. You can't please everyone, but I give Drew his props for taking on such a task. He will be fine. Drew knows what to do and he is doing it his way, nobody else's.

So what. That was the only thing I said and I didn't say that was bad. I just made an observation and posted it. I didn't call him names (moron) I didn't make fun of his weight (you did, don't you think there are overweight people on this board who find that comment offensive, as if being fat is a reason for Drew not being able to host a show). You say he is nervous and that makes him unqualified (everyone gets nervous when they are trying to do their best to please everyone).

I can deal with fat and comfortable, like Tony Sirigusa on Fox. But I just thought he looked like he was not comfortable with himself and I was just saying maybe he should change his image if he is not happy with his physical appearance.

Drew doesn't have an issue with himself...you do. You made the fat comment, no one else. Why is a man with $$$, personality, a career that anyone would kill over, and a beautiful fiancee have issues with himself? Now you really are going over the deep end with any comments just to post something.

I don't see that at all. If you see him on any show, any of his game shows, you'd still see the same ol' Drew Carey. Nothing different. He'd be the same chubby guy. Just like when Ricki Lake did that nighttime special TPIR, she behaved the way she always behaves on television, nothing was different. She was who she is. Drew is who he is. Not everyone is the same. When Tom Kennedy hosted TPIR, he had his way of doing the show, which was different from Bob Barker's way. No one complained. They liked Tom.

I think it's just that people flat out REFUSE to believe anyone could do better than Bob. Drew is doing a fine job so far, so so much better than Bob's been in the past 5 or 6 years. Bob was awful from like 1999-on compared to Drew this week. Drew is a fresh change for the show.

Like I said, I think it's just that people refuse to accept a change. I was never high on Bob Barker to begin with, but I give credit where credit is due, he was a good host who could do well with contestants. But for the past 5 or 6 years, his hosting had been awful. Messing up rules, being impatient to contestants, and just looking flat out lost at some points. Drew's doing a fine job, don't put the guy under such a tiny microscope and maybe you'll see it the same way.

I would have just CBS discontinued the show once Bob quit but there was no way CBS would give up this money-maker. True there were scandals with Bob on the show, but who knows if there was anything to them...Drew sure beats Rosie. I can't even believe CBS seriously considered her. God help us!

I attended a taping of TPIR last month...(the show hasn't aired yet) and had a wonderful time. I was never a huge fan of the show but my wife and I have always followed Drew's career and decided to go.
We enjoyed the show and thought Drew did a terrific job. During the commercial breaks, his interaction with the audience was freewheeling and a reminder of how quick-witted Drew can be. If you're in LA, I highly recommend snagging some tickets.
I have watched some of the shows Drew has taped since our tape date and have already noticed that he is beginning to inject a lot more of his personality into the show.
(For the record, we were at Show #4075K which hasn't aired yet)

Great opinion. Just like your opinion that the set "sucked" before the show even went on the air. You obviously have no interest in giving the show a chance and clearly don't have any idea how the show works.

Let me know when Welcome Back, Kotter makes a comeback.

Perhaps you can post another "rant" once you realize that he is a decent host, and will carry the show.

It will be nice to archive your posts when we look back at this 10 years from now when the show is still going strong.

Some people who take over a new role on TV just comes out looking GOOD, like Meredith Viera on the Today show. She came out strong and that's something Drew hasn't done. I want to feel like HE IS THE NEW FACE OF THE PRICE IS RIGHT and maybe that will take time. How long? We don't know but he shouldn't be too long since he is getting paid NICELY to be the Host
