View Full Version : Sherri Shepherd to star in new CW sitcom

Sherri Shepherd -- who just landed a plum spot on "The View" -- is plotting a primetime comeback.
Comic-thesp is developing a half-hour sitcom for the CW that's loosely based on her own life experiences. She's set to produce and star in the project via ABC Studios-based producers Nina Wass and Gene Stein. Dave Flebotte ("Will & Grace") will pen it.

Untitled skein will revolve around a married woman who discovers her husband has been cheating on her and has an illegitimate child. She agrees to let the child and her mother move in with the family.

Shepherd has talked openly on "The View" about her marital difficulties, including her husband's infidelity and the child that resulted from that affair.

If the CW project goes forward, it wouldn't be the first time that a morning talkshow host has done double duty. Kelly Ripa juggled "Live With Regis and Kelly" and her ABC laffer for three seasons. And former "View" moderator Rosie O'Donnell had a recurring role on "Nip/Tuck" during her tenure with the talker.

It's a good bet the Shepherd project would lense in Gotham, allowing Shepherd to keep her chair on "The View."

Shepherd is a sitcom vet, most recently snagging a recurring role on NBC's "30 Rock." She also co-starred in the ABC Studios-produced "Less Than Perfect," which was produced by Wass and Stein.

Exec producers of the Shepherd project will be Wass, Stein and Flebotte. Flebotte is currently on the staff of FX's "Dirt"; his other credits range from "Ellen" to "The Bernie Mac Show."

You can't be serious. And you wonder why I've never watched the CW a day in my life. This woman is rude, snobby, piggish, and downright stupid. How the hell is she getting her own show?

On the bright side, I can't wait for Solomon to read this. He'll keep us laughing at this for weeks.

The first couple of times she was on "The View" she was funny. Now she sort of just blends in with the furniture. Plus, it would be nice if she would find one hairstyle and stick with it. I mean, how many wigs does the woman own anyway?

She doesn't blend in with the furniture - she's much bigger than the stuff up there. She just kind of covers up the furniture-LOL. I'll bet you that chair she sits on is steel, because if it wasn't, it would have broken already-LOL

I had no idea her hubby cheated on her and had a child out of wedlock!

Yep she does! Surprisingly though, she hasn't mentioned it for about a week now. I like Sherri and all, but the girl has no shame. Sometimes I think about what Solomon says about her and I'm like "I see what he means!"

Exactly! It seems like that's all she's trying to say by doing this new show.

I mean, I can imagine that being cheated on isn't something you get over very easily, but there's no reason to keep telling the entire world your personal problems.

We get it Sherri, HE DONE YOU WRONG!

I agree. I don't know what it is like to have someone cheat on you, but I am sure it is painful and heartbreaking, no doubt. She probably told her man she was going to forever and ever NEVER LET HIM FORGET WHAT HE DID!!!!! Especially since he has a reminder from that cheating: HIS CHILD!

Yeah, I know that, but Solomon is putting his foot in his mouth. He is implying that Halle is beautiful and therefore, no woman is immune from being cheated on. Halle's ex-husband wouldn't be faithful to any woman, he had a sex problem. HE COULDN'T SAY NO TO ANYONE. That sounds like something stupid I heard from one guy. "Halle Berry is TOO BEAUTIFUL TO HAVE BEEN BEAT UP ON." WTF???? So, only ugly women should get beat up on?

First of all, a real MAN doesn't cheat. Just like a real WOMAN doesn't cheat. Those people who cheat do so for several reasons. And it isn't always for someone better.

Irene I'm talking in regards to sherri, maybe she was feeling unattractive and that she is not main girl material. And i just pointed out that Halle was cheated on too so it's no need for her to feel bad about herself

Okey dokey, I will check that out.

But, look what I found on the net abt Sherri and her husband (is he still her husband? she filed for divorce, but did they reconcile or what?)::eek:

The View's audiences have fallen in love with the clean Christian comic as Sherri Shepherd has regaled them with true tales of her recent divorce from actor and comedian Jeff Tarpley, with whom she shares a son.

Sherri Shepherd told The View's viewers that she recently checked Jeff Tarpley's email account and found pictures of some woman "with her legs all up in the air," and reported that only the Lord stopped her from bashing Jeff's head in with the lamp she picked up.

Also admitting that she had formerly spent eight days in jail for failure to pay parking violations, Sherri Shepherd said God warned her that she didn't want to go to prison for murder.

"One body cannot hold onto all that anger," Sherri Shepherd said about her journey toward forgiving Jeff Tarpley, a man to whom she pays alimony.

A native of a Chicago suburb, Sherri Shepherd was born April 22, 1970. Sherri's father reportedly worked as a McDonald's manager to help pay for Sherri to attend trade college, which helped her gain work as a legal secretary and perform stand-up comedy at night.

Raised a Jehovah's Witness, Sherri later converted to Christianity after moving from Chicago to Los Angeles.

"I was out here doing stand-up comedy, and everything was going wrong. I was in a very abusive relationship and was making really bad choices," Sherri told Living Light News. One night, Shepherd said she fell to her knees and cried out, searching for God.
