UP IN THE GIRLS ROOM....

BLAIR: (sitting on her bed studying)
JO: (sitting down on her bed studying she looks up at Blair) Blair have you seen my yellow high
Lighter
BLAIR: yeah it's over on the desk
JO: oh great thanks (gets up from the bed and walks over to the desk) Um Blair is there something you might have forgotten to do
BLAIR: I don't think so like what
JO: (holds up the pen) like put the cap back on the pen's all dried out
BLAIR: Jo relax there's no need to get in a tiff (reaches into her bag and pulls out another highlighter) here you can have this one
JO: Thanks (walks over towards Blair and gets the highlighter)
BLAIR: (Jo sits back down on her bed) no problem so have you gotten anything for Tootie's birthday
JO: no I've been so busy with my finals I haven't had time
BLAIR: Well you'd better make time
JO: Don't worry I'll get her something tomorrow
BLAIR: her birthday's tomorrow
JO: oooh I better stop today after class and get something (Jo looks at her watch and gets her stuff together. Just as she's about to head on out the door Blair says something)
BLAIR: good and while your out can you pick me something up from me too (Jo turns back and gives her a look) Later that day...... Everyone except for Tootie is sitting in the living
room
MRS. GARRETT: (sitting down on the couch) I still can't believe that Tootie's gonnea be turning 16 tomorrow
BLAIR: (sitting down in a chair) I know before you know it she'll be driving, going down to vote for the 1st time, heading off to college,getting married, having children.....
JO: (sitting on the edge of the sofa) and then comes the biggy (after a few moments of slience) death
MRS. GARRETT: (smiling at Jo) Oh Jo (she looks over at Natalie to see her working with a scrap book) Natalie what you got there
NATALIE http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/frown.gifsitting over on a chair) it's my present to Tootie it's a scrap book from all her years at Eastland I call it Eastland through the years (she walks over and joins Mrs. garrett on the couch)
JO: who's that (points to a man in the scrap book)
BLAIR: (laughing a little bit as she remember Mr. Bradley) that's Mr. Bradley he was the headmaster before Mr. Harris took over the job
NATALIE: and Mr. Parker after that
JO: So what ever happened to him
BLAIR: no one knows we can back from Summer break, and he was gone (looks over at Jo and gives her a snotty look) and you arrived
MRS. GARRETT: Actually Mr. Bradley's living in Wisconsin he's the principal at a high school
JO: (gives kind of a disquested face) Wisoncon why would he move there
BLAIR: I know I can't ever imange living there
MRS. GARRETT: (smiling a little bit) Ah girls I'm from Wisconsin
JO: oh yeah (laughs a little bit to herself)
NATALIE: So I guess Mr. Bradley wanted a change of pace from New York
BLAIR: if he moved to Wisconsin he sure did
NATALIE: what was it like growing up in Wisconsin
Mrs.Garrett: Ah girls it was wonderful would you believe that me and my sister were born right in our house
BLAIR: how discusting couldn't your father get your mother to a hospital
MRS. GARRETT: (laughs a little bit) no most babies back then were born right in the home I'll never forget the day when my brother was born by that time babies were starting to be in the hospital (the screen beomes fuzzy, and you hear Mrs. Garrett's voice in the background) I was 14 and Beverly Ann was 8 (the sceen takes up back to when Mrs. Garrett and her sister both were still young girls living on there parents farm) it was the fall of the year Beverly Anne and I just started school. I of course loved it but Beverly Ann had a different opinion......
MRS. ANDERSON: (sitting at the kitchen table with Beverly Ann) Beverly Ann sweetie you know you have to go to school
BEVERLY ANN: why you don't (takes a bit of a cookie)
MRS. ANDERSON: well when you get to be my age you get to make your own choices (stands up from the chair and gets ready to cook dinner) but until then your father and I have a say over what you and your sister do
BEVERLY ANN: (takes another bite of her cookie and thinks for a moment) I'lltell you what you let me do what I want now and then when I get older you can tell me what to do
EDNA: (enters the room cheerful as usuall) Mama guess what Bruce asked me to the fall dance next Friday night
MRS. ANDERSON: (smiling at her daughter) well that's wonderful Edna Mae
Blair, Jo, Natalie, and Tootie: (there voices are heard in the back ground) Enda Mae
BLAIR: (voice in the back ground) mrs. garrett you never told us that was your real name
JO: (laughing a little bit voice in the back ground) Edna Mae that's so cute
MRS. GARRETT: (voice in the back ground) ah Girls do you want me to finish the story

BEVERLY ANN: Big deal
EDNA: your just jealous Beverly Ann because you can't go out on dates yet I'm gonnea go do my homework
MR. ANDERSON: (enters the kitchen from the dining room) hello dear (gives his wife a hug and a kiss then turns to Beverly Ann) and what about you young lady don't you have some homework to do
Beverly Anne: (knowing not to argue with her father she quickly answers him) yes sir (she leaves the room she heads upstairs)
MR. ANDERSON: (turns back towards his wife) how are you feeling dear
MRS. ANDERSON: (looks down at her pregrent stomach and back up again) about as good as I look
MR. ANDERSON: (takes his wife's hand and leads her into the living room) well don't worry in 3 more weeks the baby will be here (helps her sit down on the sofa)
MRS. ANDERSON: (looks at her watch) Oh I better get the roast out of the oven (she leans forward to get up)
MR. ANDERSON: (places his hands on his wife's shoulders) you just sit here and relax I'll take care of dinner and everything else
MRS. ANDERSON: for how long
MR. ANDERSON: until the baby's here it's important now that you rest as much as possible
MRS. ANDERSON: (with Mr.Anderson's help she lies down on the sofa she closes her eyes for a bit of a rest)
MR. ANDERSON: (covers her up with a blanket and then heads into the kitchen to finish making dinner)

ABOUT 3:00 IN THE MORNING......

UP IN THE GIRLS ROOM........

BEVERLY ANN: (wakes up from a sound sleep when she has to use the restroom she gets out of bed and heads on out the door. As she walking down the hall she peaks in her parents room, and discovers that there not in there panicing she runs back to her room) Edna wake up wake up
EDNA: (wakes up with a shock) what' (not sure what's going on) what's wrong (it takes her a moment to get her eyes focused) Beverly Anne it's (takes a look at the clock) 3:00 in the morning (she puts her head back down on the pillow)
BEVERLY ANN: (getting upset) I know and mama and papa arent' in there room
EDNA: (half asleep) that's nice
BEVERLY ANN: (starts pacing the room) what if they've been kidnapped what if they've decied to leave us
UNCLE HENRY: (there's a knock at the door and he comes in) Beverly Ann what are you doing up it's 3:00 in the morning
EDNA: (a little more awake now she turns towards her uncle) Uncle Henry what are you doing here
UNCLE HENRY: your father called me and asked me to come over
EDNA: (getting excited) is mama having the baby
UNCLE HENRY: (smiling) yes there at the hospital now
BEVERLY ANN: (smiling really big) I can't wait to be a big sister it's gonnea be so much fun
UNCLE HENRY: well young lady you need to get your rest
BEVERLY ANN: (gets back into bed) but I can't sleep I'm to excited (starts bouncing up and down on the bed)
UNCLE HENRY: (places his hands on her shoulders so she can stop bouncing) I know your excited but it's after 3:00 and you need to go back to sleep your father's coming home tonight and then in a few days you'll get to meet your new brother or sister
BEVERLY ANN: but there's no way I can go to sleep I'm just to excited aren't you Edna (she looks over at Edna's bed and see's that her sister is fast asleep)
UNCLE HENRY: now how about you doing the same thing
BEVERLY ANN: (finally settles down and goes to sleep)

(the screen becomes all fuzzy and were taking back to Peekskill in the
present time)

MRS. GARRETT: 4 days later my father brought my mother home from the hospital and Beverly Ann and I got to meet our little brother David Alan Anderson (after a few moments of slience) well I'd better go and make Tootie's cake for tomorrow (she leaves the room)
NATALIE: I wonder why she's never metioned having a brother before
BLAIR: I just had another one of my brilliant ideas
JO: (gives her a strange look) another one I don't' remember you having a first one

BLAIR: (stands up and starts walking across the room) suppose somebody arranged a little renion for
Mrs. Garrett and her brother
JO: and just how are you going to do that
BLAIR: Oh Jo please (she walks over to the desk and graps the phone book) you have heard of this it's called a phone book
NATALIE: What do you plan to do call every David Anderson in the book
BLAIR: Why not how many David Anderson's can there be living in Appleton Wisconsin (she walks over to the desk and makes a phone call) yes for Appleton Wisconsin...... Can I please have the listing for David
Anderson........ you have 147 listing thanks anways (hangs up the phone)
NATALIE: that's to bad Blair well I'd better get this back upstairs before Tootie comes home (she heads back upstairs)
JO: it was a nice gester Blair I sure Mrs. G would of loved a renion with her brother
BLAIR: and I'm going to see that has her renion with her brother
JO: Blair get real how are you going to ever find this guy
BLAIR: Jo my dear when a Warner sets her mind to do something a Warner always follow through
JO: well good luck Warner and don't forget he may not be living in Wisconsin anymore
BLAIR: (her face suddenly falls) oh that's right (mrs. Garrett enters the room)
MRS. GARRETT: isnt' Tootie back from rehersale yet?
JO: she called a little while ago, and said she's be home by 9:00
MRS. GARRETT: Oh ok then
BLAIR: Ah Mrs. Garrett where does your brother live now
MRS. GARRETT: (looks down to the ground and back up again) he died of Cancer 3 years before I came to Eastland (pauses for a moment) well I better go and check on that cake
BLAIR: Mrs. Garrett (Blair walks up to her and she gives her a hug) I'm so sorry about your brother
JO: (walks up to Mrs. Garrett and gives her a hug) me too
MRS. GARRETT: (hugs them back) thank you girls (she gives them each a smile) but my brother was sick for a long time I know that's in a much better place now (she leaves the room and heads into the kitchen)
JO: (looks at Blair and Blair looks back at her) poor Mrs. G
BLAIR: I know I havent't felt this bad since they started airing reruns of Welcome Back Kotter
JO: really I loved that show Barbarino was my favorite (smiles) remember the eposide when he wanted to become a priest (starts to laugh to herself) I tell ya everytime I think about the part.....
BLAIR: (cuts her off) Jo please would you let me finish my story
JO: oh such go ahead
BLAIR: thank you ...... now let's see where was I oh yes it was the beginning of 1973 my parents were still together and the three of us were living in Texas......... (the screen fades out and when it comes back in
again clear were taking to Texas 1973 Blair's voice in the back ground) I knew that my parents were having problems I just never imanged it would ever come to this
MR. WARNER: (comes inside the living room carrying his briefcase he walks over to Blair sitting down at the table working on homework) hello princess (he takes a seat next to her)
BLAIR: (not looking up) hi daddy
MR. WARNER: (reaches into his pocket and pulls something out) I have something for you
BLAIR: (looks up at her father but she gives him kind of a mean look) what another stock tip
MR. WARNER: (laughs) no bye the way how did that tip work out from granddaddy?
BLAIR: (perks up) pretty good the stock went up and then it split and then it went up again
MR. WARNER: (smiling) excellent but this is what I wanted to give you (he hands her a little card Mrs. Warner walks into the room)
BLAIR: (takes a look at the card) thanks Daddy
MRS. WARNER: Oh David she's to young for a credit card
Blair / MR. WARNER: (look at each other and then back to Mrs. Warner spoken at the same time) you never to young for credit card
MRS. WARNER: well until you can pay for the bill yourself I'll just put it away for now (reaches out her hand)
BLAIR: (places the card in it) ok, but I you to know you just made one 8 year old very unhappy
MR. WARNER: (look at his wife and then back at Blair with a little smile) Well why don't you go upstairs and get changed were all going out to dinner tonight
BLAIR: (suddenly perks up) as a family the 3 of us
MRS. WARNER: (has no expression on her face) go and get changed
BLAIR: (smiles and quickly heads upstairs)
MR. WARNER: if she's unhappy about the credit card (looks over at his wife) our news tonight is really going to make her misable
MRS. WARNER: (looks over at her husband) are you sure were doing the right thing
MR. WARNER: I think Blair would rather have 2 parents happily divorced then unhappily married
MRS. WARNER: this is just going to break her heart
MR. WARNER: Monica this isn't going to be easy, but I think this really is going to be the best for all of us
MRS. WARNER: (tears start to fall down her face) how could you say that are family's being ripped apart I havent' felt this bad since they started airing reruns of Gilligan Island
MR. WARNER: (laughs a little bit looks up and see's Blair coming downstairs) pull yourself together Blair's coming down
MRS. WARNER: (quickly wipes her eyes) are you ready dear
BLAIR: (looks at her mother with confusion) mom what's wrong with your face?
MRS. WARNER: what do you mean (she takes hands and wipes her face when she looks down at her hands to see the black mascarea all over them) Oh my goodness they really should put a warning on the bottle I'll be right back (she heads into the downstairs bathroom)

About 20 minutes later........

WILLIMANTON HEIGHTS RESTAURANT...........

MR. WARNER: (Mr. Warner, Mrs. Warner and Blair walk up to the door at the restaurant he holds the door open for the girls and they walk in first)
HOSTESSES: good evening folks welcome to Willimanton Heights do you have a reservations
MR. WARNER: yes it's under David Warner party of 3
Hostesses: (looks down at the list) Ah yes your tables this way (she walks them over to the table) your waiter will be here any moment to take your drink orders
MR. WARNER: thank you (the hostesses leave. Mr. Warner pulls out the chairs for his wife and his daughter)
MRS. WARNER: well this sure is going to be a fun evening (smiles and looks over at Blair) isnt' it dear
BLAIR: Yeah does this mean that you and daddy have stopped fighting
MR. WARNER: (takes a look at his wife and then back at Blair) Well princess your mother and I never really were fighting we were just having a difference of opinions
MRS. WARNER: yes your father doesn't' seem to understand that my opinions do count
MR. WARNER: now Monica you know that's not what I meant
MRS. WARNER: oh really and just what did you mean
MR. WARNER: I just mean that your opinion does count but it's not always correct
MRS. WARNER: (starts to raise her voice) Oh really
BLAIR: (looks around the restauant to see that people are starting to stare)
MRS. WARNER: well that's what an opinion is (she points to her husband) you like Spam I like Steak
MR. WARNER: (starts to raise his voice) how dare you...... I would never eat spam
Waiter: (looks over at another waiter and then approches the table) hello folks how are y'all doing tonight?
MRS. WARNER: (speaks through her teeth) just fine
Waiter: (looks at them all strangly) well can I start you off with some drink
Mrs Warner: I'll have Tom Collins on the rocks and make it double
MR. WARNER: I'll just have a cup of coffee
Waiter: (writes there drink orders down on the pad) and what can I get you miss
BLAIR: I'll have a rootbeer
Waiter: Ok I'll be right back to take your orders (the waiter leaves)

A little while later there all enjoying there dinners.....

MR. WARNER: how's your chicken princess
BLAIR: (takes a bit of her chicken) excellent can you pass me the salt (mr. Warner hands her the salt)
MRS. WARNER: (looks over at her husband and gives him a phoney smile) Blair would you ask your father to pass me the rolls
BLAIR: daddy can you pass the rolls to mom
Mr Warner: (looks over at his wife and gives her a phoney smile) sure dear (hands Blair the rolls) here you go
BLAIR: (hands them to her mother) I'm be right back I gotta go to the bathroom (gets up and leaves the table)
MR. WARNER: (looks and when he see's that the coast is clear) how much longer are we going to have to put up this act
MRS. WARNER: (wipes her mouth with her napkin and places the napkin back down) not much longer if were lucky
MR. WARNER: Believe me I feel the same way
MRS. WARNER: You know I don't even know why I ever married you in the first place
MR. WARNER: (yelling) For my money
MRS. WARNER: You Jerk (she picks up a glass of water and tosses it in his face)
BLAIR: (walkes back to the table and is in total shock)
MRS. WARNER: (yelling) I should of divorced you years ago (Mr. And Mrs. Warner don't even notice Blair)
MR. WARNER: (wiping the water from his face and shirt) I couldn't agree with you more (blair quickly runs out of the restaurant)
MRS. WARNER: as soon as Blair comes out of the restroom let's tell her
MR. WARNER: (takes a look at the women's restroom) she's been in there for an awfully long time
MRS. WARNER: (calmer now as she's getting concerned for her daughter) I'll go check on her (she leaves the table. She walks over to the womens restroom and heads in side a few seconds later she comes back running out and back over to the table.) She's not in there
MR. WARNER: (stands up) what do you mean she's not in there...... did you look under the stales
MRS. WARNER: Oh I couldn't do that it's not lady like (she sits back down in the chair and starts to cry) it's all my fault
MR. WARNER: (sits down next to his wife and puts his arms around her) Monica don't blame yourself I was a lousy husband
MRS. WARNER: (without hesitation) that's true
MR. WARNER: you don't have to be so agree so fast
MRS. WARNER: (starts to laugh a little bit) come on let's go find Blair
MR. WARNER: (spots the waiter walking by) Waiter could we have the check please
Waiter: (nods and goes over to the station to get check he walks back to the table and hands Mr. Warner the check) thank you for coming y'all come back again real soon
Mr Warner / MRS. WARNER: (go to pay the check and head on out the door)
MRS. WARNER: Blair (she spots Blair sitting outside the resturant on a bench)
MR. WARNER: (he and Mrs. Warner join Blair on the bench) I guess your pretty mad at us uh Princess
MRS. WARNER: Blair sweetie your father and I tried to work things out.....
BLAIR: (stands up turns around and faces her parents) no you didn't all you ever do is yell at each other that's not working it out (she looks down to the ground) your getting a divorce aren't you
MR. WARNER: your mother and I feel that seperating for right now is best for all of us
BLAIR: (crying) best for you maye
MRS. WARNER: (walks over to her daughter and tries to give her a hug)
BLAIR: (backs up from her mother and gives her a cold hard stare she then looks at her father the same way) I wanna live with with Nanna
MRS. WARNER: Blair I know your upset but leaving isn't the answer
BLAIR: (looks at both her parents and they look back at her) do you believe that too daddy
MR. WARNER: yes Princess I do
BLAIR: well if leaving isn't the answer then how come were not going to be all together anymore as a family (wipes the tears from her face with her blouse sleeve)
MRS. WARNER: (takes out a tissue) oh Blair honey you'll ruin your blouse
(hands her the tissue) and your right leaving isn't the answer, but sometimes it's the only answer we have

(The screen fades out and when it comes back in again were back in Peekskill the present time)

BLAIR: so my dad moved out on the weekend and 6 months later there divorce was final June 14th, 1973 and after that my parents learned not to eat together in public
JO: (looks at Blair with symothy) I'm sorry Blair
BLAIR: (looks at Jo and smiles) me too but hey it all worked out after all I am spoiled
JO: you mean spoiled rotten (takes a look at her watch) oh shoot
BLAIR: What's the matter
JO: It's almost 9 a clock
BLAIR: (smiling and being snotty) very good Jo I see that those time lessons have really helped you
JO: oh yeah and you know what's gonnea help you right now
BLAIR: what's that
JO: (curls up her fist) a plastic surgent
BLAIR: Ok well what's the matter
JO: I fogot to get Tootie's present
BLAIR: did you at least remember to pick one up from me
JO: (raises her voice) Blair what am I gonnea do the stores are almost closed and there not open tomorrow it's Sunday
BLAIR: (looks at her watch) Jo we've got exactly 15 minutes to go out and buy Tootie the two greatest gifts any 16 year old has ever received
JO: (gives her a look that says you gotta be crazy)
BLAIR: Jo trust me I know how to shop (blair and Jo put on there coats and just as there about to head on out the door tootie meets them in the doorway)
Tootie: (screams) Oh gosh you scared me (breathing heavy and trying to get her breath) were are you going
JO: (looks at Blair) Ah jogging
BLAIR: right (she starts jogging in place) gotta keep in shape come on Jo
JO: (smiling) right bye Tootie (Jo and Blair leave)
Tootie: (hangs up her coat and Mrs. Garrett comes in the room) hi Mrs. Garrett sorry rehersale ran later then I thought
MRS. GARRETT: Oh that's ok so how's it coming along
Tootie: doing a musical is a lot of hard work, but I think it will all be worth it in the end
MRS. GARRETT: well I'm gonnea go up and read for a little bit before going to bed (gives Tootie a kiss on the forhead) good nite tootie
Tootie: (smiles at her) nite Mrs. Garrett
MRS. GARRETT: (heads back upstairs)
NATALIE: (comes down at the same time) hi tootie have you seen Blair and Jo
Tootie: they just left to go jogging
NATALIE: (gives her a totally confused look) Jogging it's almost nine
Tootie: well that's what they said but I didn't buy it (pauses for a moment and then looks over at Natalie) ah speaking of buying I hope you got me something good for my birthday
NATALIE: (puts her arm around Tootie's shoulder and smiles) Tootie your gonnea love what I got you
Tootie: give me a hint
NATALIE: (takes her arm off Tootie and starts walking towards the stairs) forget it
Tootie: (she starts climbing the stairs behind Natalie) Ah come on just one hint
NATALIE: no (Natalie and tootie head upstairs)
JO: (comes back home with Blair) Well thanks a lot Blair thanks a lot because of you we didn't get Tootie's presents
BLAIR: (tosses her hair) well I can't help it if that police officer pulled us over because he was stunned by my beauty
JO: Blair that police officer was a women
BLAIR: (shoots her a disgusting face)
JO: and you were pulled over for speeding well what are we gonnea do now speed racer
BLAIR: (thinks for a few moments) wait a minute Natalie
JO: what about Natalie
BLAIR: she's making tootie's present why don't we make her something
JO: Out of what Blair her birthdays tomorrow
BLAIR: I bet we can find some stuff up in the attic
JO: (thinks for a moment) well at this point I'm desperate let's go (Jo and Blair head on up to the attic)

UP IN THE ATTIC……

JO: (from outside the door) Will you give me a hand (Blair starts to clap) not funny Warner help me with the door
BLAIR: (Blair and Jo push the attic door open) Oh gosh this place is a mess
JO: Yeah I know how are we ever gonnea find something for tootie up here
BLAIR: Well don't worry I'm sure if we look hard enough we can find something
JO: Ok you start over there (points to a coner) and I'll start over here
BLAIR: (walks over to her coner and spots Tootie's old skates) Oh my gosh jo (turns towards Jo) remember these tootie's rollar skates she wore them all the time her first year here
JO: (walks over towards Blair) Blair I was still in my old school (as she's walking she knocks a box on a table when she bends down to pick it up she comes face to face with a picture) Oh my gosh
BLAIR: what is it (she walks over to Jo looks at the picture and makes a diquesting face) Oh Jo I thought you were over him
JO: (puts the picture back down on the table) I am (smiling) but I can't help being sentmental (wipes her eye) todays the anniversary of the date Eddie and I first meant
BLAIR: (being really snotty) I'm surprised it wasn't declared a national holiday…… so just how did the 2 of you meet through your parol officers
JO: (does a real short phony laugh) ha ha actually we meant through two friends on a blind date (gets a faraway look in her eyes) it was love at first sight that body, the way I felt when he touched me
BLAIR: (gets a very confused look on her face) I don't know Jo Eddie just doesn't seem like he'd have that affect on anyone
JO: (turns to Blair) who's talking about Eddie I'm talking about his Harley Davidson
BLAIR: So just how did the 2 of you meet
JO: Ok I'll tell you the story but let's also keep working (Both Jo and Blair go back stretching the addice) well it was the Summer before I started going to Eastland my friend Hallee set me up on a date with her cousin……

(The screen fades out and were taken to The Bronx's 1981)

Over at Hallee's House……

Hallee: I'm telling ya Jo this guy will flip over you (leans forward to grap a chip) trust me I know his taste in women
JO: (takes a chip) you should he's your cousin I just don't know going out on a blind date (hits herself in the chest) that's just not my style
Hallee: who are you kidding when you and Chuck started dating you meant on a blind date
JO: (gets up from the chair and starts to walk around the room) and you know what a disaster that turned out to be….. it was the most misaberable 2 years of my life
Hallee: (stands up) Jo just give him a chance if you don't like him you don't ever have to see him again
JO: (pauses for a few moment) well what could it hurts…… it's not like I'm gonnea marry the guy
Hallee: (smiles) great I'll set the date up for tonight
JO: Hallee are you crazy I said I'd go out with him but I never said tonight……. Let's set it for next weekend
Hallee: He won't be here next weekend he's going to Michigan
JO: Michigan why's he going there
Hallee: he's in the Navy's and that's where he's gonnea be stationed
JO: (smiles really big) oh really I've always loved a man in a uniform
Hallee: yes but this time he won't ask you for correct change should I set up something for tonight
JO: (starts to pace the room) ok but only if you and Steve double with us
Hallee: (goes over to make the call)

Later that day down at the local JcPenny's……
JO: (walks over towards Hallee who's looking at dresses) A dress Hallee would you give me a break you know I never wear dresses
Hallee: Jo do you wanna inprise this guy or not
JO: I'm not gonnea impress him buy wearing a dress, giggling at all his stupid jokes, and pretending I like eating foods with foregion names….. I mean who does that
Hallee: (puts the dress back on the rack) ok fine if you won't get a dress how about a new pair of jeans
JO: (looks down at her old ratty pair of pants) whats wrong with the one's I have on
Hallee: (yelling) Jo they have holes in them
JO: (yelling) there broken in…..( takes another look down at her jeans) Ok I'll get a pair of jeans (takes look at the price tag) but not from here let's go over to the dime and save
Hallee: (takes a look around to make sure the coast is clear) Jo what are you talking about (lowers her voice) they don't have to coast you anything
JO: (lowers her voice so it's almost in whisper) the old talk, slip and run
Hallee: right I'll go talk to the sales person, you slip the pants in my back, and will run out of the store
JO: (nods her head in agreement)
Hallee: (goes over to the sales person)
JO: (once the coast is clear Jo bends down like she's tieing her shoes, slips the pants in Hallee's bag, comes back up again and starts to walk out of the store)

A couple minutes later Hallee comes out of the store too….

Hallee: did you get em
JO: (smiles to show she got them she hands Hallee back her bag)
Hallee: come on we'd better go before they realize what's…… (she suddenly stops when she see's a police officer walking by)
JO: (Jo turns and see's the officer walking right for them) Oh no
Halle: Jo would you relax he's just watching the area come on we better get going (Halle and Jo start walking down the street)
Police officer: (walks up to the same spot where the girls were and see's an address book on the ground) Hey you two hold
JO: (Looks back at the officer)
Hallee: Just play it cool (watches the officer yes officer
Police officer: does this belong to either of you (holds up the address book)
Hallee: (quicly looks in her bag) Oh yes I must of dropped it back at store thank you
Police officer: (hands her the book and goes on his way)
JO: (breathes a sigh of relief) that was close come on

About an hour later back at Jo's apartment……
Rose: (comes home from work and hangs up her sweater and sits down on the couch right where Jo had placed the jeans)
JO: (walks in the room drinking a soda) Hi Ma are you working another shift tonight
Rose: (stands up and holds up the jeans) care to tell me where these came from
JO: (quickly things of an answer) they were a present from Hallee

Rose: Joanna Marie don't lie to me it's not your birthday and it's not Christmas (tosses the jeans down on the couch) now where did these jeans come from
JO: from the store Hallee talked me into taking them
Rose: without paying for them (starts pacing the room) oh that's just great frist your father steals typewriters from a wearhouse and now you steal jeans from a store (walks up to Jo and has an extremely angry face) Jo your gonnea go back to the store right now and return these jeans
JO: Ma I can't do that I have a date tonight
Rose: Well that's just to bad because you are grounded……….
JO: (screaming at her mother) grounded you can't ground me
Rose: Oh yes I can Jo you are 16 years old and until you are 18 you will do as I say
Female neibor; (only her voice is heard) shut up I'm trying to get some sleep
Male neibor: (only his voice is heard) you shut up Maggie I'd rather listen to them then to your snoring
JO: (after a few moments of silence the phone rings and Jo walks over to the desk to pick it up (hello….. (looks over at her mother)……. No I think you'd better tell your cousin I can't make it…… look Hallee I just can't make it alright….. yeah see ya (Jo hangs up the phone)
Rose: (walks over to Jo with a smile on her face and puts her arm around Jo's shoulder) I'm proud of you Jo I'm not proud of what you did (referring to stealing the jeans) but I'm proud of what you did (backing out on her date)
JO: thanks Ma I'll see ya later(Jo takes the jeans and heads on out the door)

Walking down the street towards JcPenny's Jo spots Hallee walking the other way

Hallee: Jo your not gonnea return those jeans are you
JO: yeah I am you got a promble with that
Hallee: yeah I do don't be a jerk (looks over at the store door and back to Jo)
JO: Well what am I suppose to do my mom found the jeans I even tried telling her that they were a gift from you
Hallee: that was stupid it's not your birthday and it's not Christmas
JO: (turns and faces the camera) I guess the writers of the show are into repeat performances this week (turns back to Hallee) I can't keep something that doesn't belong to me I mean sure I could steal something and give it to somebody else no problem
Hallee: (a huge smile) Wait a minute I got a great idea why don't you give me the jeans that way they'll be out of your house and your mother will never be the wiser
JO: (pauses for several seconds and finally walks right past Hallee towards the store)
Hallee: (graps Jo's arm and twists her back around) what do you think your doing Polnichezk I told you your not returning those jeans
JO: look Halle I don't take orders from my mother and I'm not gonnea take orders from you (Jo walks past Hallee and just as she's about to open the door)
Hallee: you must take orders from your mother she told you to return the jeans
JO: (turns back towards Hallee)
Hallee: you've gone soft the Jo I know doesn't let anybody stand in her way if she wants something (pauses for a few seconds) you know what return the jeans if you want because your not good enough to go out with my cousin (Hallee turns and walks down the street)
JO: (looks back at Hallee and then down at the jeans and finally deceides to walk back home again with the jeans)

Back at her apartment……
JO: (carefully folds the jeans up and places them in her jacket and walks inside she looks around and doesn't see her mother) Ma are you home (she then looks over on the counter and see's a note) Jo my boss called me in for tonight I'll be back by mid night (a huge smile comes on her face) alright (she goes over to the phone and calls Hallee) Hi Mr. Brennen is Hallee home thanks……. Oh ok then can you tell her to be here at 5:30 and I'll be wearing the jeans…… bye (hangs up the phone with each count she points to the phone) five, four, three, two, one (phone rings) I knew she'd come crawling back (picks up the receiver) hello…… yeah and don't you ever call me soft again Brennen…….. ok but listen I gotta be back by 11:30 (Jo hangs up the phone)

About an hour later………
JO: (sitting down on the couch reading a magazine and the doorbell rings) Just a minute (she walks over to the door and unlocks the 6 locks and opens the door)
Eddie: (looks over at the locks) enough locks don't you think (gives a little smile) but it's cool my old man has 5 locks on his door
Hallee: um Eddie this is Jo Jo this is Eddie
Eddie: (extends his hand out) hi nice to meet you. You've got a great smile
JO: (extends her hand out) oh thanks nice to meet you
Steve: So where should we all go….
Eddie: well why don't' we let the ladies choose
JO: well there's the pizza joint around the corner
Eddie: sounds good to me (wraps his arm around Jo) your not afaid to ride on bike or you
JO: Oh no I had a Shwin for years until it got stolen
Hallee: (starts to laugh) Jo Eddie has a Harley Davidson
JO: (looks over at Eddie) a Harley Davidson let's ride
(they all leave the apartment)

Down on the street……
Hallee: (walks up to Jo) so what do you think
JO: (looking over at Eddie and his bike) I think I'm in love
Hallee: I knew that you and Eddie would hit it off
JO: (turns towards Hallee) I'm talking about his bike
Steve: Hey girls are you coming I'm starving
Hallee: (yells back) keep your shirt were coming

Arriving at the pizza place
Eddie: (opens the door) after you ladies (Jo Hallee walk inside)
Steve: (whispers to Eddie) Jo's pretty cute don't you think
Eddie: (gives him a smile and nods his head in agreement)
Steve: (Eddie and Steve walk in the pizza place)
Hallee: (sitting down at a table with Jo) Over here guys (waving her hand to get there attention)
Eddie: (arriving at the table he sits next to Jo and turns to her) Well we've got all night to get to know each other
JO: (smiling and looking at Eddie) right all night (looks at her watch) as long as I'm home by 11:30
Eddie: (starts to laugh) you still have a crew few (Jo shoots him a look like she's gonnea kill him) no kidding I think that's great
Steve: (takes a look at the menu) so what kind of pizza should we order
Hallee: well if anybody knows about pizza its Jo her mom makes the best pizza in town
Eddie: well then Jo you order the pizza

A little while later they're eating their pizza…
Eddie: (taking a bite of pizza) mmmm this garlic and anchovy pizza is the best ever
Hallee: you've always hated garlic
Eddie: (looks over at Jo and smiles) not anymore
Hallee: (looks over at Steve and smiles she then looks up and see's Jo's mother standing at the comer) Oh my gosh
Steve: what's wrong
Hallee: Jo your mother's at the counter
JO: (turns towards the counter and back) oh god what am I gonnea do
Hallee: get under the table (Jo ducks under the table with no time to lose) Hi Mrs. Polnichezk
Rose: Hi Hallee hi Steve
Hallee: Oh this is my cousin Eddie
Eddie: (stands up and extends his hand) very nice to meet you
Rose: you too well I better get home I just order a pizza for Jo and me tonight (she leaves the restaurant)
Steve: (looks down under the table) you can get up now
JO: (turns towards Eddie' and talks really fast) Eddie I don't have time to explain, but I got to get home right now
Eddie: No problem Steve here's the money for are share (tosses some money on the table)
JO: (Jo gets out of her seat and Eddie get out her his and they quickly leave the place)

About five minutes later they arrive back at Jo's apartment… (Just outside the door in the hallway)
Eddie: you know something you're a lot of fun Jo
JO: (looks around for her mother) yeah you do now get out of here (pushes him
Eddie: (laughs a little bit) Jo relax your mother was walking back from the pizza place (she properly won't be here for another 5 minutes or so
JO: (smiles) your right (leans in and wraps her arms around him and they kiss)
Rose: (walks down the hallway) Joanna Marie
JO: (quickly stops kissing Eddie) ok now breathe just take nice short breaths and you should be alright
Rose: (walks right up to Jo doesn't even look at Eddie graps her by the arm) GET INSIDE NOW (she opens the door and has Jo go inside)

Inside the apartment…
Rose: (toss her purse down on the couch) how dare you lie to me and sneak out of this house
JO: Ma I don't' see what the big deal is so I wanted to go out and have some fun
Rose: (looks down and see's that Jo's wearing the jeans) You have pushed me to limit and I won't stand for it anymore (tears start rolling down her face) I don't think I can ever trust you again
JO: (tears start rolling down her face) Ma I'm sorry I know what I did was wrong and stupid (she sits down on the couch)
Rose: (sits down on the couch and puts her arms around Jo)
JO: (leans in her mother chest) I'm so sorry Ma I'm so sorry
Rose: I know you are baby I know (a couple minute later Jo breaks away from her mother rose stands up and goes into her bedroom)
JO: (looks back at her mother and leans back in the couch)

The screen fades out and when it fades back in again were back in Peekskill the present time…

JO: (stands up with a bag of stuff) Well we'd better get back downstairs
BLAIR: (stands up too) wait what happened with you and Eddie did you ever see him again
JO: (gives her a stupid look) we almost got married remember
BLAIR: Oh yeah (as she remembers that cold winter night) thank goodness I was able to talk you out of it
JO: (laughs at her) come on I think we've got enough stuff here (she starts heading out the door)
BLAIR: (carrying some stuff) now wait a minute what about the jeans…

The next day in the afternoon…

NATALIE: (looks at the window) where is Tootie
JO: Nat relax Mrs. Garrett send her the store she should be here any minute
NATALIE: (looks back out the window and see's Tootie walking down the street) RED ALERT THE GOOSE FLYS AT MIDNIGHT (she turns off the lights)
Tootie: (about a minute later she opens the door) Oh great the powers out (just then the lights come on)
Everyone: SURPRISE
Tootie: (screams) oh my gosh (puts her hand on her chest and gets her breathe) how did you ever know I wanted a surprise party
NATALIE: You told us
Tootie: (gives Natalie) Well it's wonderful thank you
Andy: (walks over to Tootie) Happy sweet 16 Tootie (leans in and kisses her on the cheek)
George: (walks up to tootie and holds out her arms) how about one from a real man
Tootie: you know of any
Everyone: (laughs at George)
George: that's cold tootie real cold

A little while later tootie's sitting down on the couch opening presents…….

BLAIR: tootie (hands her two shopping bags) these are from Jo and me
JO: were sorry we didn't have time to wrap them
Tootie: (pulls out her first present and looks down at it in confusion) My ballet slippers (pulls out the next present and smiles) My old skates (quickly goes to the next present and pulls it out) My teddy bear (she hugs it) Wait a minute this all my old stuff (looks at Jo and Blair) why would you give me things I already owned
JO: (looks over at Blair who just shrugs her shoulders) Well we thought this way you'd bet a chance to relive your childhood
MRS. GARRETT: (smiling) well I think that's a great idea and it takes a real creative person to come up with something like that
George: (laughing a little bit) if you ask me it just sounds cheap
Everyone: (shoots him a look)
NATALIE: (hands tootie her present) Well here's my present
Tootie: (she opens it up and reads the front cover) Tootie and Natalie adventures through the years (looks up at Natalie) Natalie this is great you made a scrapbook of us
NATALIE: yeah I hope you like it
Tootie: (unwraps her present and inside the box she pulls out a scrape book) Tootie and Natalie's adventures through the years. Nat I love it (she opens it up) Oh here's a picture that was taken just after you started at Eastland
NATALIE: I will never forget my first day
BLAIR: (laughing) I know it took me a week to get all the frosting out of my hair
JO: (confused) Frosting?
NATALIE: yeah let's just say that my day at Eastland went over with bang (looks over at Tootie) do you wanna tell this story
Tootie: Oh no you're the writer of the group
NATALIE: Ok well it was back in 1979. Mr. Bradley took over the postion as headmaster and Mrs. Garrett was the new house mother……

(the screen faded out and were taken to Eastland during the first year)
In the common Room…….

Sue Ann: (comes down stairs and she see's smoke coming from behind one of the chair she walks up and stands right behind Blair who's smoking a cigarette and in a real deep voice Pretening to be the headmaster) Miss Warner just what do you think your doing
BLAIR: (stunned quickly stands up) Ah Mr. Bradley I'm sorry I wasn't (she turns around and see's Sue Ann) Very funny Sue Ann
Sue Ann: (laughing) I'm sorry I just couldn't resist, but seriously Blair your gonnea get kicked out of school if they catch you smoking
BLAIR: (puffs again in Sue Ann's face causing her to cough) like I care Mr. Bradley's so dumb he doesn't have a clue what's going on her (she smokes some more)
Mr. Bradley: (walks in) Hello girls
BLAIR: (without hesitation she stuffs what's left of her cigarette in her mouth)
Sue ann: Hi Mr. Bradley what's up
Mr. Bradley: has the new student arrived yet (looks down at his clip board) Natalie Green
Sue Ann: not that I know of (she turns to Blair and smiles) Blair do you know if Natalie's arrived yet
BLAIR: (starts coughing from the cigarette and gives her a look that says I'm gonnea kill you)
Mr. Bradley: (sniffs for a few seconds) do you girls smell smoke
BLAIR: (continues to cough and shakes her head no)
Mr. Bradley: (looks at Blair with concern) Blair you don't look good (pats her on the back so hard she swallows the butt of the cigarette and starts coughing up a storm) better get yourself some rest
BLAIR: (holds her stomach with a total sick feeling) Oh god I think I'm gonnea be sick (she quickly runs upstairs)
Mr. Bradley: (looks at his watch) well I'm going down to the main office to turn in some paper work (he leaves)
BLAIR: (still looking sick comes back downstairs)
Sue Ann: feeling better Blair
BLAIR: Shut up Sue Ann (reaches into her pocket) I need a cigarette
Sue Ann: well smoke all you want I'm going to the library (she leaves the room)
Tootie: (skates in from the other room) Hey Blair wanna here a joke
BLAIR: (laughs) why I'm looking at one
Tootie: (laughs) you mean your reflection in that mirror behind me (points to the mirror)
BLAIR: (just gives her a snobbish look)
(Three knocks are heard at the door)
Tootie: (walking over to the door) I'll get it (opening up the door she see's a young girl and her parents with 2 suitcases and a backpack ) Can I help you
NATALIE: yeah I'm Natalie Green
Tootie: Oh you're the new student come on in I'm Tootie Ramsey and that's Blair Warner (poits to Blair) she doesn't bit much
BLAIR: (takes out another cigarette and in a real snobbish voice) Hi
Mr. Green (walks up to her) you know young lady smoking isn't healthy
BLAIR: what are some kind of a doctor
NATALIE: my dad's a surgent
BLAIR: ooooh well if I ever need a lung transplant I'll be sure to give him a call (Blair heads up to her room)
Tootie: (shakes her head at Blair) don't mind her she's just being herself a jerk
Mrs. Greeen: Ok well were gonnea get going now are you sure you don't need any help unpacking
NATALIE: Mom I'm 13 I think I can handle unpacking a couple suitcase
Mrs. Green: (smiles and gives Natalie) Ok were gonnea miss you
NATALIE: (smiles) I know me too
Mr. Green: (gives his daughter a hug) you take care cookie and if you need anything give us a call
NATALIE: daddy don't worry I'll be fine
Mrs. Green / Mr. Green: (both hug Natalie one last time and then they finally leave)
Tootie: your parents seems nice
NATALIE: (turns towards Tootie) thanks
Mr. Bradley and Mrs. Garrett (walk inside)
MRS. GARRETT: you must be the new student Natalie Green (extends her hand out) I'm Mrs. Garrett the house mother any problems are concerns just come to me
Mr. Bradley: (extends his hand) and I'm Mr. Bradly I take care of anything she can't handle now have you been on tour of the campus yet
NATALIE: yeah I was on a tour last week with some of the other new girls
Mr. Bradley: very good (looks down at his clipboard) let's see looks like your in room 12 c
Tootie: (smiling) hey I'm in that room too come on I'll help you unpack

Up in Natalie and Tootie's room….
NATALIE: (unpacking) what's with that blond girl I've never meant anybody so rude
Tootie: Ah she just thinks that since she's Blair Warner a rich girl from Texas she can treat everybody like slime
NATALIE: slime she treats people like there the slime on slugs
Tootie: (smiles) don't worry just ignore her most of us do (notices Natalie's English book)

Later that evening everyone's in the common room….
Sue Ann: (walks in carrying a box of cupcakes) Hi everyone I've got cupcakes (she see's Natalie for the first time) Hi you must Natalie (puts the cupcakes down on the table) I'm Sue Ann
NATALIE: it's nice to meet you
Sue Ann: (opens up the box) here have a cupcake
NATALIE: (takes one out of the box) Chocolate my favorite (she turns to the side and see's Blair sitting down in the coner reading a book then reaches in the box and pulls out another one. She then walks over to Blair) here have a cupcake (extends her hand)
BLAIR: what's this for
NATALIE: look just because you're a jerk doesn't mean I am (she places the cupcake down on the nearby table)
BLAIR: (quickly gets up from her and graps the cup cake) just who are you calling a jerk (she tosses the cupcakes right in Natalie's face)
Sue Ann: (looks at tootie with concern) Ah I don't think that's such a good idea
NATALIE: (looks back at Sue Ann) your right but I'm doing it anyways (she turns back towards Blair and smooshies the cupcake in her face)
Sue Ann: (walks over and steps in the middle) alright you guys now cut it out
Tootie: (walks over carrying the box of cupcakes) Sue Ann's right
BLAIR: (looks down a the box and quickly pulls out a cupcake smooishes it in Sue Ann's face)
Sue Ann: (raising her voice) this means war
All the girls start grapping cupcakes: (smooshing them in each other's hair and clothes screaming super loud there so loud that they don't even hear Mrs. Garrett walk inside)
MRS. GARRETT: (comes in and is in total shoke) just what is going on here
All the girls: (look at her with panic on there faces)
Tootie: we are in trouble
MRS. GARRETT: (looks at the girls and shakes her head) you got that right clean up this mess (she heads on into her room)
Sue Ann: (looks over at the other girls and then rubs some cake out of her hair) come on let's clean up this mess
BLAIR: (stands up) well I'll see you girls later I'm gonnea go take a shower
Tootie: (stands up and walks towards Blair) Blair just where do you think your going
Sue Ann: (stands up) yeah you're the one who started the food fight so start cleaning princess
BLAIR: fine I'll go get some garbage bags (she heads out the room a couple minute later she comes back carrying an open bag she begins cleaning up)
NATALIE: (walks over towards her) here let me help you
(as the girls contine cleaning the screen fades back out and when it comes back in again were taken to peeksill the present time)
BLAIR: (laughing) Ok I admit I was a little snobbish back then but I've changed over the years
Everyone: (gives a look that says what ever)
BLAIR: a little
Andy: well what else you got in that book
George: yeah any more pictures of food fights
NATALIE: no but there are some pictures from the time the 4 of us had that paint fight
George: (laughs) paint fight what did you guys use water colors
Tootie: (looks at the others and laughs) no we were suppose to paint or room for the girls but thinks got out hand very quickly….. (she contines to tell the story as everone listens)
