View Full Version : I Love Lucy and her fashions...
Ireneparalegal 10-12-2007, 09:38 PM Okay, Lodee mentioned a book where we can see in color the various outfits Lucy wore on the show. What book is that?
Also, what other books are available regarding the ILL fashions? I would love to add that to my book collection/and Christmas list. ;)

Are you planning on making some Lucy Ricardo clothes for yourself? :)
Ireneparalegal 10-13-2007, 12:21 AM Ohhh, that would be nice. I can't imagine where I would wear them. I could wear that half-skirt here at home when entertaining friends though.

I think you should wear them EVERYWHERE. You'd probably get as much attention as Lucy got with the loving cup on her head.

Yeah I would. Especially if I wore that half-skirt WITHOUT THE PANTS. ;)

You are hung up on those pants aren't you?:wave:
I would get more looks walking around my city in those hostess pants than I would if I have a Loving Cup on my head like Lucy.

The book might be "The Official I Love Lucy Paper Dolls," by Allan Glaser and illustrated by Rick Carl. It's around $12.95. It shows some of the more popular outfits and gives info and trivia about the development of the show's wardrobes.
I just wish we could see all the outfits in color!

Yep, that's it. Thanks Madame X. What other outfits were you wondering about? Or is that just more of a general statement?
You know, even though it's called paper dolls I can't imagine anyone cutting it.

I know, I would never think of cutting it! omg:
When I mentioned the other outfits, I was referring to her entire wardrobe. It would be great if someone would or even could publish an encyclopedia-type/reference book about the I Love Lucy wardrobes (Ethel, Ricky and Fred as well).
PolarCub75@aol.com 10-13-2007, 06:07 PM I would love to see a book that just contained rare/unreleased/behind-the-scenes I Love Lucy still photographs, like an I Love Lucy color picture book. Just because we haven't seen them, doesn't mean that they don't exist, right? I've seen a few. I am talking about ones that were actually shot in color/using color film. I know it would be an extra special treat for fans to see something like this.

Yes, that is what I would love to find.

Well, Fred would be easy! One dress shirt, overly high pants and occasionally a pair of overalls.

It is isn't it? I tell ya, after all these years, I still laugh at that scene, like it is the first time I am watching it.
What I find so funny watching ILL now, is I get to lay in bed and watch it with my son who is enjoying ILL for the first time. He laughs and laughs at her and it makes my heart just beam with happiness because he is having the thrill of watching ILL for the first time. I remember when I was a first-timer watching it. And hearing him laugh, makes me laugh even more.

Irene-I just saw the one where Lucy is singing a scale matching the piano and on the last note the door buzzer sounds. I thought of your son laughing at that, I heard the audience laugh and I myself was laughing. That is several generations laughing right there! Add to that my Grandpa laughing and all the teens and twentysomethings laughing, and the future people who will surely laugh. What else in the world can make every generation laugh out loud?

Exactly!!!!!:D What other show on television can do that? My son gets a kick out of that scene and he is enjoying other scenes. He really enjoyed the scene in MEN ARE MESSY where Lucy sounds like Tarzan. The sound of a young child laughing at an adult woman being funny just makes me say, "Thank You Lucy and Desi".
