Kid Rock has hit out at American Idol bosses for not allowing wannabes to perform their own songs on the reality show. Rock is fed up with watching contestants perform cover versions of other artists' material on the TV talent search.

He tells Blender, "It sucks. I think they should allow songwriters in. Someone singing a song they wrote - there's nothing more powerful."
