Today they showed this episode. Let me say to Rick that in the opening scene, Lucy is seen with small, hoop, gold earrings. I remember you mentioned in the other thread how Lucy wore those type of earrings in the later seasons.

I am dismayed at Ricky for having an argument/discussion with Lucy abt their finances IN FRONT OF THE MERTZES while they are eating dinner. That was rude. That conversation could have waited til later when they were alone. What a way to ruin dinner.

Also, Lucy is trying to keep from discussing with Ricky the fact that she is overdrawn at the bank by eating something. What exactly is she eating? I have never been able to figure out what those little things are she is sticking in her mouth. I am guessing some sort of sweet desert thingy.

Cool. I think she looks kind of sophisticated with those earrings.

Yeah, I guess it is kind of rude, but Lucy and Ricky treated the Mertzes like family and I guess didn't really hide things from them. After all, Lucy would discuss all her personal business with Ethel.

I haven't seen that lately. I'll have to check it out again when I get a chance.

I see your point abt the Mertzes' being family and the whole argument taking place. I guess I just see the topic as being so private, but you are right, Ethel was privvy to that information as Lucy did tell her everything.

I think it was some kind of miniature pastries or creampuffs that Lucy kept eating to delay talking to Ricky about being overdrawn. But that's Lucy-- sometimes you think she might murder somebody if it will keep Ricky from yelling at her for just 5 more minutes, when it is inevitably going to happen anyway.

There are several eps in which Lucy and Ethel show poor business judgement-- 'dumb' may be a more accurate word than 'poor.' But to just assume you have a profit coming, having no idea what it costs to make and deliver your product, and completely disregarding regulations, taxes, et al... sheesh! as they say sometimes. But then, getting on television on a live commercial (the way it was generally done then) by promising a friend 3 cents a jar sale because her husband manages a local station... wouldn't that station have wanted to know a lot about their product, how much it costs to make, as well as what kind of production facilities they have, if their fee was going to be paid by a percentage of sales? And what were advertising codes then?-- the seller of the product poses as the buyer as if it's legitimate (or was it presumed the audience would know it's put-on?).

And finally, were Lucy and Ethel going to roller-skate down the stairs on their way out, or why did they already have their skates on in the apartment? And how long would it really take to make those deliveries (I think they give the number of jars sold)?
