the first 3 seasons of MASH-before it turned into "The Alan Alda show" and the first 2 seasons of HAPPY DAYS-before it became "the Fonzie sho" and BARNEY MILLER (I've TOTALY GIVEN UP HOPE that Sony's gonna release the rest of this series on DVD-I'll just have to resign myself to the fact that they're never going to:mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

I voted for Happy Days I also like Taxi. It sucks that Happy Days doesnt' have alot of votes. It is a great show. My favorite 70s show

I voted for Happy Days. It's one of my favorites too this day. It still gives my favorite new shoes a run for their money for my top 5 favorites.

Sony has said firmly that because of "disappointing" sales of Season 1 that they aren't going to release anymore seasons. It sucks! I love Barney Miller, it's my all time favorite sitcom! Fortunately I have the entire series on DVD, thanks to my trusting DVD recorder, my faithful recording of the eps of TVLand and a local station, and a few Columbia House tapes, but I know others aren't so lucky, and those of us that are have to make due with TVLand's horrendous editing. You can buy the entire series on DVD for around $30 but you'll get eps taped off TVLand and it's not exactly legal. :(

Here were my favorite 70s sitcoms:
The New Dick Van Dyke Show - The first two seasons when it located in Arizona
Alice - The Flo Seasons
One Day At A Time
The Jeffersons - the 70s episodes were priceless before the 80 whitewashed the show.
All in the Family - The first five seasons were priceless
Maude
Sanford and Son - the last season was horrible
The Mary Tyler Moore Show - The Rhoda and Phyllis years was great but it was still good after they got their own respective shows.
The Bob Newhart Show
Bridget Loves Bernie - Good show but CBS caved in to the pressure of letters who were offended by the show. Could had pulled it off today.

Couldn't agree more! Barney Miller had absolutely brilliant writing and the humor was smart-it was defintely a thinking mans sitcom. The acting was also brilliant-probably the finest ensemble EVER. The show and its actors should have won tons more Emmys than they did-but they were up against some pretty stiff competition(All in The Family, M*A*S*H, etc). I wish they'd had a 30th Anniversary Reunion Show!
