Definitely past 1985. Once he started making most of his material about parenting and all that, it became funny. I don't think he'd be where he is today without The Cosby Show. I always try to record him whenever he's on Leno or Letterman.

Then.I have most of his early comedy records, including his hilarious-and I DO MEAN FUNNY-monologue entitled "The Dentist".When he was younger,(with"I SPY", "The Bill Cosby Show"(1969-1971 when he played Gym Teacher Chet Kincaid ,the CBS version of "FAT("HEY HEY HEY")ALBERT and the Cosby Kids(in which he was the voice of Fat Albert,Bill, and Mushmouth),of course The Cosby Show(1984-1988 the first four seasons of that show were the best),and his two books "Fatherhood" and "Time Flies") Cosby was at his best. Now,he's still funny, but not as funny as his earlier glory days.

Bill Cosby was actually funny to me in the movies "Uptown Saturday Night" and "Let's Do It Again" than he was in his sitcoms.
