this show is greenlit in put alongside the urban sitcoms? I don't get what this show has that can appeal to that demographic that CW wants that Reba didn't.

View Full Version : Reba Canceled for Aliens in America? Dean Winchester 10-07-2007, 07:29 PM this show is greenlit in put alongside the urban sitcoms? Scoobiedoo30 10-09-2007, 02:43 PM what does that mean Dean Winchester 10-09-2007, 03:01 PM what does that mean CW cancelled Reba, even though it was the #1 sitcom they had, because they were afraid that it would fail if put alongside shows like Girlfriends and Everybody Hates Chris that are considered "urban" (wow, they don't remember the 80's when Cosby Show and Family Ties got great ratings together). So it seems weird for this sitcom to suddenly get greenlit and put on the same night as the UPN sitcoms that they were afraid to even get Reba near, when I don't think Reba had any less appeal to the typical Girlfriends fan (if anything, I think there were more Reba/Girlfriends fans than given credit for, I know a lot of people of both races who watched both) than this show does. Buffyboy323 10-09-2007, 03:34 PM Aliens In America is fairly compatable with Everybody Hates Chris. Justin and Chris are both outsiders at school and at home. They have to deal with their whacky friends and family. Then there's the more obvious single camera work, awkward silences, and kind of annoying voiceovers. But the main reason they probably paired these two is because they both tell the story of growing up. And it doesn't hurt to make an hour out of 2 of your most critically acclaimed shows. Wings#1ShowPeriod 10-21-2007, 01:34 PM Reba cancellation still hurts, it ended to soon. I hope Season 6 comes out soon. Scoobiedoo30 10-21-2007, 01:37 PM It still Hurts for me as well Dean Winchester 10-29-2007, 09:45 PM Aliens In America is fairly compatable with Everybody Hates Chris. If Angels and Chris are bonded by the "outsider kid at school protaginist", I think Reba and Girlfriends could share appeal as both shows are about single, strong, women who are in control Buffyboy323 10-30-2007, 03:48 AM that is true, but I also think Reba and Girlfriends could've worked together better than CW would think. Reba was on the air for 6 years without a companion. Nothing The WB had really fit with the show, but it still managed to become their biggest sitcom ever. I guess they just gave up on the show, which sucks. But all good things come to an end. I would have been fine if the show ended after the 5th season. That season started out a little rocky, but all was well by the end. The 2 part ending was a perfect way to end the series.
