View Full Version : Does anybody here actually work 9 to 5, M-F, with weekends off?
phoebe7165 10-07-2007, 03:02 AM Or is that just a thing of the past?
I heard the term "9 to 5 grind" on the radio recently. I don't remember ever working 9 to 5 on any job. Even when I worked in a warehouse, I worked 7 to 3:30. I'm usually up early now and I notice quite a few people going into work as early as 5AM. When my brother worked at a supermarket, he would have to be at work at 3AM, and my sister works in a hospital and most of her shifts at noon-11pm.
And you figure, doctors, police officers, fire fighters, people who work in 24 hour stores, etc. work all hours of the day & night.
Holly 10-07-2007, 07:00 AM I work Monday/Friday 9/5 weekends off, and i love it.:D
qwerty 10-07-2007, 11:11 AM I work Monday-Friday - 8:30 to 5:00 in an office. My guess is most office workers do work Monday-Friday. Places like stores, hospitals, etc... are open 7 days a week so workers may be asked to work weekends or on shifts that start or end earlier than 9 or 5.
catlover79 10-07-2007, 11:13 AM Well, I work in an office building. When I worked in the phone sales department, my schedule was Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. It was 11:30-8 on the weekdays and 9:30-6 on Saturdays.
Now that I'm the administrative assistant, I work M-F with weekends off. My hours vary now that I've been working overtime and the other administrative assistant quit. I like working later in the day since I like to sleep late and I get to miss rush hour. :D

I work 9:15am to 4:35pm
lol
TVFactFan 10-07-2007, 11:29 AM I usually work from 10 am to 6 pm, but sometimes have to work other shifts when someone's out sick or on vacation. I work most Saturdays and a Sunday every now & then, but I get a day or two off during the week. At least the pay is decent.
That's a sexy shift because you get to sleep in the moning a lttle and still have a lot of evening left once you get home. But I guess that would depend on how close you are to your job
Brieannas21 10-07-2007, 12:57 PM I usually work 8am-6 or 7, and I'll work weekends also with just one day off during the week. But I'm going to start working 8-4
TheHappyBurgerMeister 10-07-2007, 01:13 PM I've never worked those hours and I hope I never have to. I'm the kind of person who likes unusual random hours. I don't mind working weekends either.
tdf4077 10-07-2007, 09:28 PM I wish! I'm a teacher/multiple club advisor/grad student/free-lance journalist so...what's the word "off" mean?
OH Nuts! 10-07-2007, 09:36 PM I work in a late office (start time 9:30-10) but my job is definitely not 9-5. On a slow night I'm there till 6:30 or so. Occasionally a Sat or Sun. Sept & Oct are particularly crazy. Last Monday I was there till 9:45
FactoryGirl 10-07-2007, 10:14 PM I never had a nine to five job or some sort of type before, I usually work at night and it's mostly Thru. through Sunday, i'm lucky to set my own schedule but my husband is not so lucky, he owns his own tattoo shop and mostly works in the daytime with those 9 to 5 type of hours.
I don't have a set schedule, but I normally work later. I work alot of 2:30 to 11:00 shifts which I don't mind, I like sleeping in. It messes me up when I'm scheduled at 8:00 or 9:00 am. I'm not a morning person at all.
dawsongirl 10-07-2007, 11:18 PM I work 9-2:30, M-F.
phoebe7165 10-08-2007, 09:21 AM I'm not a morning person at all.
Here, here!! Neither am I!!
phoebe7165 10-08-2007, 09:22 AM I work 9-2:30, M-F.
