When did "The Lucy Show" actually debut? Wasn't it 1962? Many books, particularly those written by Vincent Terrace and Rick Mitz claim it was 1961.

THE LUCY SHOW premiered on CBS on October 1, 1962, as documented in
both THE COMPLETE DIRECTORY TO PRIME TIME NETWORK & CABLE TV SHOWS by Tim Brooks & Earle Marsh and TV GUIDE GUIDE TO TV (by the
editors of TV Guide magazine). In his book THE GREAT TV SIT-COMS, Rick
Mitz erroneously included in the section devoted to 1961-1962 series.

"The Lucy Show" premise was "loosely" based on a book written in 1961 called "Life Without George". Maybe that is where the 1961 date comes in.
