It is early afternoon on Saturday. Blair, Jo, and Tootie are all out on dates. Natalie is subbing for Blair at Edna's Edibles. She and Geri are chatting by the counter. Mrs. Garret is in the kitchen. No cutomers are around. A girl walks through the door with a limp. Natalie recognizes her instantly.
"I just came back to apologize for my behavior yesturday" The girl addresses her comments to Natalie. "If a person without a disability were telling jokes about people with a disability I'd want someone to jump in and say that it wasn't right. That's exactly what you thought you were doing. I can't fault you for that and you're not that much overweight. You can tell by looking at me that I'm dealing with weight problems myself. The girl finishes her apology. "I'm sorry too, I should have believed you right away when you said you had Cerebral Palsy" Natalie expresses remorse. I don't really know much about you except that you have C.P. and that's not the only thing I should know about a person. My name is Natalie what's your name" She asks?
"Well my name is Erica" The girl begins talking about herself. My favorite comedian is Geri Tyler and the joke I told was her..." All of the sudden Erica notices the woman standing next to Natalie. She had been too nervous before about apologizing to pay much attention to anyone except Natalie.
"Geri Tyler" Erica stammers! "It's nice to meet you. I glad youl like my jokes" Geri responds. "I told your joke; is that ok?" Erica is hummbled in Geri's presence. "Natalie filled me in on the joke you told. I couldn't be happier to have you as a fan but because Cerebral Palsy affects us both a little differently I don't think it's approperite for you to tell that particular joke. You haven't offended me by telling my joke however and I hope I haven't offended you by saying this." Geri says. No, you haven't offended me. I understand" Erica assures her.
"If it's ok with Natalie would you like to see me perfom tomorrow Erica? I'm doing another act at the Moose Lodge" Geri offers. "Yea it's ok with me" Natalie interjects in to the coversation. I'll just have to tell my friend Jo she doesn't need to pulverize you Erica" She jokes. "Thanks" Erica laughs uneasily. The matter is put to rest.
