Helen Mirren has compared Paris Hilton to the late Princess Diana.

The Oscar-winner believes that the former Princess of Wales and US socialite have many similar personality traits.

She is quoted by Sky Showbiz as saying: "I don't applaud Paris Hilton...but I think she's pretty cool.

"She's developed, like Princess Diana, that deliberate foolishness, which is disarming."

Hilton hasn't shied away from comparisons with the late princess in the past, commenting last year: "I think every decade has an iconic blonde - like Marilyn Monroe or Princess Diana - and right now, I'm that icon."

What Diana did that was foolish was to marry that half-wit of a prince! That was her foolish mistake. She led with her heart, rather than with her brain. That ended up costing her many things, including her life.

i am not a huge fan of the monarchy myself, but that comparison is rather far- fetched. she may have gained a following in the US after her oscar win as queen elizabeth, but after this gaffe, helen's popularity in the states looks like it is going to wane further. diana and lohan, in the same league? what a crock of ****

I agree, I don't see the comparison at all. Its lame. But, I still do like Helen Mirren. Everybody says some dumb stuff sometimes. She still is an amazing actress.
