I'm really craving more seasons on GAB on DVD and am getting tired of waiting for VEI to release season 3. It's been brought up elsewhere that TV Guide Hart Video has licensed the remaining seasons of Charles in Charge from Universal. I think we GAB fans should email them and ask them to also get the remaining seasons of GAB for distribution here in the US. It would be nice if they could get some extras. Here are some email addresses from their website:

tim@artsallianceamerica.com (marketing)

do you think we will be able to get the rest of Gimme A Break in The Stores or on The Website

If TV Guide/Arts Alliance releases it here in the states, then yes we could get more in both the stores and through websites. If we have to rely on VEI then here in the states you'd have to order it online. Either way I don't care, I just want more GAB SOON! Please send those emails to TV Guide.

I actually wrote to Joe at Arts Alliance a few weeks ago. He said they didn't currently have the rights to GAB but that he would ask. I haven't heard anything more.

As for VEI, not sure what their story is. I don't think they have the resources to release dvd sets at a fast pace. Both GAB: Season 2 and Kate & Allie: Season 4 sold very well. Yet, they haven't announced future releases for either shows yet. For GAB, it is more than a year from the original release date. I'm kind of doubting they will release more at this point. I think we should start focusing more on Arts Alliance picking it up for the U.S.

I agree with all of you that it would be "great" to see more episodes of "Gimme a Break!" on DVD! I bought season 1 very shortly after it was released and "loved" it! The other two seasons that I would especially like to get my hands on are two and three. Those of you who have read other posts of mine know how crazy I am about the character of Julie in general and the site of her in dress boots in particular! In the season that I own, I see her in boots in "Mom's Birthday" and I think she looks "lovely"! The secondary thing that I like about this episode is the fact that Hazel Shermet is in it and I am "very" fond of her! The other episode that she was in in this season was "The Emergency" and I thought she did a "great" job of playing Mrs. Larry Rhine! However, my "favorite" episode of the whole series is in season 2 and it is "Katie Steals Julie's Jock! Julie is a "knockout" in her outfit in general and her boots in particular! Wow! Another episode that I would like to see from this season is "Nell Goes Door to Door". My interest in this episode brings us back to Hazel Shermet. If you scroll down a few threads, you will find one in which I thank a fellow poster for refreshing my memory about her part in this episode. In season three, the episode that I am most interest in is "Samantha's Protest". This is another episode that I have posted quite a bit about. The thing that I liked most about this episode was the joy of seeing Samantha burst Katie's bubble at the end. I remember looking at Katie as a girl who "really" got what she deserved! Another reason why I liked this episode so much goes back to my crush on Julie. I was especially fond of the way that she expressed her embarrassment about Katie's flirtatious behavior at the protest. This took place when Katie capitalized on the command "lock arms and sing" as a chance to grab both arms of the cute guy with both of hers and hold her body close against his. I "really" liked it when Julie yanked one of Katie's arms away, so she was facing the same way as the other protesters and rapped her arm around Katie's. She then said "like this Katie!" She then looked towards Nell whose arm Julie's other arm was around and said in regards to what Katie was doing "That's disgusting! I thought that Julie came off as being "very" decent and sophisticated in this instance! I would be "very" interested in what other posters think!

I also wrote to Joe but never heard back from him. I wrote to Tim in marketing and he wrote back that he had not heard anything about GAB. That's why I think a lot more fans have to email Arts alliance and let them know how badly we want GAB. They stated that on future sets of Charles in Charge they would work to get some extras, so it would be really nice if we could get some extras on some GAB sets.

I think VEI is just slow with releasing sets. If GAB sold so well I don't see why they would abandon it. Maybe music is holding it up, who knows. At any rate I'm still hoping to see more releases from them, but doubt they'll ever be any extras.

I have written emails as well, and I got nothing back from anyone. The year is almost over and we still have no release news.

I've been checking their website periodically as well as amazon.ca to see if there is a pre-order listing but nothing so far. Looks like we have to wait and see what's in store for 2008. Hopefully, 2 seasons of GAB! As a fan of Kate & Allie, I hope they continue releasing that too. Only 2 seasons left until the show is complete on dvd. YAY! :)

We need to put the pressure on VEI and not the American company putting out the series. If we start emailing TV guide or whoever owns the rights in the U.S., if they were to release it, they would release Season 2!!!! I don't think they can legally skip that season since it was only released in Canada.

We need to keep emailing VEI and beg them. I think it's a waste of time trying to get GAB released in the states because even if they release a Season 2, we'd probably have to wait another year for Season 3!

I've been emailing both. We're talking apples and oranges here. VEI does not have distribution rights in the US and Universal (and whoever they license it to) does not have distribution rights in Canada.

It seems to me if TV Guide were to start releasing season 2 in the US, then they'd probably have the series completely on DVd by the time VEI gets around to releasing it's seasons. I say double our chances and ask both companies to release the remaining seasons.
