I have searched far and wide for any bloopers from the show. Anyone ever seen outakes or bloopers?

P.S. Next week is S&S week on TVLand. Starts Monday the 8th

I know at least a few. In episode the "Card Sharps" Lamont is upstairs. His three card playing buddies come over and fred lets them in. If you look closely at the stairs, you will see Lamont's shadow on the wall waiting to come down. The producers should have told him to back up a little bit because it was real noticeable.

In episode, "The Stand-Ins" Fred is sitting in his chair and his sister is standing near him. His white brother-in-law Rodney is coming over at any moment. The camera angle is on Fred at his chair with the door in the background. If you look at the door, you will see Rodney walking up at the door and then standing there for a few seconds. He then walked in and said, "I'll get it what ever it is!" I think that was on both Rodney and the camera angle. that was to clear for the viewers to see.

Thanks for those! I'll watch for them. I remember TV Land once mentioning before a certain episode that there is a spot where Redd looks off camera for his lines and you have to really watch for it. I am totally looking forward to the TVLand special week next week and hope they will mention some other stuff I didn't know.

S&S is a show that I never get sick of watching. Sure, there's a few episodes that are kind of weak in the writing department, and most of the episodes without Redd aren't so hot.... But I've always believed that it's one of the best sit-coms of all time. I think that Redd's comedic timing is genius, and that his experience with live audiences is a big part of that.
Redd even knew when to repeat a line or ad-lib when a part came when you couldn't hear a line over the the studio audience laughter, or when a supporting actor messed up their part a little... he would compensate and make the scene work anyway. Redd deserved more accolades for his acting skill.... but I bet he had fun. That's why I'll bet that any bloopers made during the show were probably hysterical.

Hi Grip!

I agree with you whole heartedly! I'd love to see a show of outtakes, if the tapes even still exist. It has been discussed on these boards many of the goof-ups and bloopers, such as seeing cast members outside of the scene waiting for their cues to enter the set, shadows of the people and microphones overhead, etc. Also there are lots of instances of in-continuity such as in the 3rd episode when Lamont gets stood up at the altar. The minister states Lamont's name as being Lamont Grady Sanford, and in a later episode, Lamont asks why he doesn't have a middle name. There are a lot of these inconsistencies, but it is fun to pick them out.

There was a perfect example of Redd's split-second acting experience on tonight! The ep where Janet's brother shows up at the door and grabs Fred by his suspenders. When the guy says his line, the audience is howling with laughter and you really can't hear what he said, so Redd says "what?" to get the inexperienced actor to repeat it because he knew that the actor didn't pause enough the first time.

Also, Redd really steps up when George Foreman barely makes it through his lines, and Redd gets real animated and keeps the scene rolling. I tell ya, when you're watching Redd Foxx act, you're seeing a real pro with skills rarely seen these days.

There's at least two episodes where Rollo just about loses it giggling (the Three Degrees in the nightclub with Lamont at the table, and another when Rollo unviels the pimped-out S&S truck out in the yard) I think Rollo might have 'burned' a bit before the tapings - to 'get in character'.

What about the ep where Fred's accountant leaves out the front door, and then you see the top of his head pass by the rear window of the set. Almost like he cut through the backyard. :)

Got these from imdb:
In the second episode it is revealed that Lamont's middle name is Grady. But in Season 6 episode "The Lucky Streak," Fred admits that Lamont is his middle name and that he actually has no first name because he and Elizabeth never got around to it.
Chico, Julio's goat, was actually a female.
The actual title of the theme song is "The Streetbeater," written by Quincy Jones.

Black and white, videotape "footage" of outtakes does exist-- whether or not they are truly outtakes (might have been rehearsal footage, or something recorded for news feature, etc.) I don't know. But a very brief sequence was shown as part of A&E's biography on Redd Foxx. That's the closest to "bloopers" I've ever seen and, frankly, it would be great to see more!

Maybe someone at A&E could shed some light on the origin of the original video.

you are quite welcome.....There is a great (although silent)shot of Redd and Demond talking and laughing together in front of what appears to be a red truck not yet Sanford-ized! Check out the other links here too. There's Redd Foxx standup comedy, and alot more!

I can't remember which episode it is, but there's one where Fred grabs at Esther, and rips her wig off. The way Lamont reacts, it's almost as if he (the actor) wasn't expecting it. His reaction is hilarious, almost like he's gonna die laughing.
