Was anyone else disturbed when Laura pushed Nellie down the hill in her wheelchair? I didn't find it to be humorous even though Nellie deserved it. She could have killed her. Was Laura even punished? I don't remember.

Laura also went over the edge when she prepared the cayenne pepper chicken dinner for Almanzo and Nellie. They could have had severe reactions.

She also planned a surprise attack on Almanzo's date at the circus. She purposely loosely basted the dress so it would fall apart and cause humiliation.

Most of the time Laura had a good heart, but like the rest of us, she could snap occasionally! :)

Were there other times you can think of?

When Laura threw Nellie into the giant mud puddle, Nellie could have caught a chill and gotten sick. She and Albert also had their share of hijinks together, except I can't think of a specific example at the moment. :eek:

When Nellie went flying into the mud, that was questionable. Nellie could have died. There should have been a message that would state something to the effect of: "Do not try this at home".

Nellie sure had something coming to her, as far as Laura pushing her down that hill...:brent I LOVED IT!!! It made for good laughs. Sorry, that is how I see that scene. Although on a serious note, Nellie really could have been paralyzed from that push down the hill. Notice how she flipped over? :faint:

Laura was not punished. She in fact had her horse, Bunny, returned to her by Nels Olsen. Remember how she sold the horse to Nels for money to buy the stove for her mother for Christmas?

Yes that was a little wicked of Laura. And Nellie never forgave her. After the push, she never let Laura borrow her cauldron or spell book again.:lol: And Harriet turned Laura into an old crone for a day. But when she realized Laura only ended up looking better than her, she recanted the spell.

It was kind of a thoughtless act on Laura's part. She was just bent on getting revenge after seeing Nellie was faking her injury and making Laura's life a living hell.
Yes, Nellie could have gotten hurt, but kids often don't think about such things when they do them.

I forget the exact scenario, but wasn't there an episode in which Laura tricked Nellie and Harriet into taking some honey or something from a tree full of bees?...and Laura told them that the bees wouldn't hurt them, because they're not "those kind of bees" or something like that?

I don't remember the exact episode, but Harriet and Nellie ended up driving a wagon and being swarmed by the hive.

Albert may or may not have also been involved in that.

How would Laura have felt if Harriet and Nellie got stung a few dozen (or a couple of hundred) times?

Makes you wonder if Laura ever actually got stung herself?

I think the "bee" episode was when Caroline's father came to visit, and he wrote that book that Albert conned Mrs. Oleson into buying the whole lot of them to sell in the store, and he "sweetened" the deal by selling her the hive.

Albert was also the one who told Mrs. Oleson about the bees being "calm in the morning" or something like that. So yeah, the bee thing was pretty much Albert's doing. He could be pretty devious.:cool:

Actually, the bees were ALBERT'S idea. ALL of it! Remember when Laura
questioned him about why did he tell them about the bees taking a nap, or
something??!! I do agree that they shouldn't have done that, because some
people can die after being stung.


I would say Laura could be pretty rebellious sometimes. I don't think she
would actually mean to be, but it's as though she ALWAYS felt that the end
would justify the means. Examples-Pa telling her & Andy to stop trying to
find "The Creeper." Did she? NO! Result-Pa gets green hair & becomes the
laughingstock of the town. In "Darkness is my friend," Pa tells her to "lock
the door, and don't answer no matter what you hear." Does she obey?
NO! Luckily, Pa had already subdued the bad guys by the time Laura came
down, but she didn't know that BEFORE she came down. There are probably
MANY other examples, I just can't think of any more right now.
